I'm also wondering if perhaps she's a missing person not from the area/state and it hasn't been figured out yet. Why else, other than idea presented above, that it was her family's doing? However the clues lead one to believe that she was assaulted (pants down) before being shot several times in the head.
I feel so bad for this unknown girl.

Edit: I see now missing persons cases in the area were dead ends --- well now.....

I was wondering if maybe she was older than she looked, so a family is not actively seeking out the young lady, because shes independent, doesn't call much, etc. I've seen on here times that ages were drastically off.

Maybe, or maybe just privacy. If she was sexually assaulted, her identity would be shielded in most states. I'm glad she's been identified and I hope she's getting well and has lots of live and support getting through this.

I read the Hudson paper yesterday and it said: Releasing further details could jeopardize the investigation, according to Anderson.

I agree with you carbuff and I'm glad they're still working diligently. Someone suggested to me that perhaps she had a trach and couldnt speak once she was treated at the hospital.

They caught the bas tard!!

In the days after the shooting, authorities worked to identify the victim and her attacker. Using her cell phone records and information on social media accounts, investigators were led to Ely, who has previous convictions for robbery and involuntary manslaughter.
The victim had been staying with Ely and his brother. On the night of the shooting, Ely wanted to test a gun he just bought before he robbed someone, the documents said. They drove to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and that’s where Ely shot the girl three times.
The victim, who has since been identified, told investigators she tried to stand, but kept falling. She remembered thinking, “Forget it. I’m about to die,” then closed her eyes. She did not remember the hikers finding her and she remains blind.

This makes me so upset. The poor girl. I hope that sick excuse for a man rots somewhere.

If she's been identified already shouldn't the heading be changed?
