All of the victim statements were excellent, truthful and revealing of the suffering of those left behind.

Tony's statement was very good in the way he told anecdotes about each victim, made you think of them as they were in life. I loved the story above about Chris Sr. Tony said the bus pulled up in front of the cornfield and every time Chris would take off running into the cornfield. He had to chase him down. Told stories of mud fights, etc. (we did those as kids, too).

If anyone ever does a movie about these murders, I hope they open with the scene of Chris Sr running away in the corn field with Tony chasing him down and putting him on the bus. I don't know why, but I think that would be a great scene to start with. Maybe tell the story through the eyes of the victims families. JMO
im glad tony was able to show the world who his brother and family really was. between the "growhouse" slander combined with the ridiculous abuse talk it seems no one could tell the world who the real chris rhoden was. mostly because the family adhered to prosecutions wish for the gag order which must have been very difficult. even tho chris financial situation was much better then all those around him he used it for good. seems he put all of union hill rd family members on his back. from buying dana/hanna a new house helping out gary financially providing for his children and grandchildren, helping bobbi jo in exchange for small tasks he must have been a wonderful human being. it makes me hate g3 so much. reading about the look on crsr face as g3 killed him is something ill never forget. tony geneva leonard and all the other rhodens/gilley/manleys are super heros to me.

The victim statements was great proof of how these people held back and controlled their emotions until they were allowed to let them out. They kept their grace and dignity all this time even though they had a real reason to lash out.
Their self control and love for each other is the polar opposite of the Wagner family.

Have Jake and Angela been moved to a prison yet, or they waiting until after Billy's trial to move them to a prison?
I understand that they are witnesses, and most likely will be protected until they testify against Billy.
Did any of the Wagner's side show up for George's sentencing?

Also adding April Manley said Chris Sr gave her the money for the funeral of one of her parents. I think Donald Stone mentioned his generosity to others in the community. Same with Kenneth.

I remember that, too, about the expression on Chris Sr's face when Billy killed him - like "Why?" May all the victims haunt the nightmares of the Wagner family to their graves.

I didn't see any Wagners in court yesterday, other than GW4 himself. Probably not, but can't say for certain. The reporters didn't mention it, either and I assume some of them would have reported if any of George's family attended.

It also really makes me question the narrative that they all had to die because Kenneth or Frankie would have sought revenge by killing Jake. Fist fighting yes, but murder? I don't know. Was that another delusion on the part of the Wagner's to justify killing everyone?

If the Wagner’s had not been caught, I have little doubt there would have been other victims. They simply did not like being crossed.

Even Angela on the stand stated that if Hannah May had not fought for custody, the murders never would have happened. What would have happened to the next person who stood up to them?

I seriously wish prosecutors would not have had to make deals with devils.

True. Same with Rita Newcomb. They won't have their final sentence until prosecution agrees they've lived up to their plea agreement. Assume that will happen after Billy's trial and JMO, prosecution will probably agree that they've met the requirements.

Jake and Angela still have to hear victims statement during their official sentencing, JMO
Have Jake and Angela been moved to a prison yet, or they waiting until after Billy's trial to move them to a prison?
I understand that they are witnesses, and most likely will be protected until they testify against Billy.
Did any of the Wagner's side show up for George's sentencing?

Jake and Angela won't be sent to prison until they are sentenced. They won't be sentenced until they are done testifying at Billy's trial, if he still goes to trial. If Billy pleads guilty and avoids a trial then sentencing can be scheduled for Billy and Angela and Jake.

If Billy pleads guilty it's always possible he could be sentenced at that time. The family would be notified and as Johnny mentioned above, they would be able to give impact statements if they want.

Same with Jake and Angela, the families would be able to give impact statements if they want.

I forgot about that Johnny. That the families might want to give impact statements when the other 3 Wagners' are sentenced.

Everything is up in the air right now because of Billy's stubborn refusal to plead guilty. It should be extremely obvious to Billy and his attorneys that Billy has zero chance of being acquitted of any of his charges if he goes to trial.

Who knows? Maybe Billy offered to plead guilty for the possibility of parole but was turned down? We don't know what is going on behind the scenes, but I can't imagine Billy getting offered anything better than no death penalty and LWOP.

Jake places him as not only being at the crime scenes, but also as having killed 3 people. For justice to be served he needs LWOP in my opinion.

It's bad enough Angela doesn't face LWOP. The deal is that she serves a full 30 years with no parole, no early release. She would be around 78 before getting out of prison. We all know she is just as guilty as the others and in fact, she was a driving force behind it.

Listen to that phone conversation between her and Jake. She wouldn't back down and insisted Jake's wife was going to abuse Jake's daughter, she wouldn't listen to Jake and was nasty and manipulative. She talked over him going on and on. Only she was right, no one could reason with her, her mind was made up.

She did the same thing to Jake about the Rhodens. Nagging that his daughter would get abused living with Hanna, who was living with her family and living with another man. That none of these people would keep his daughter safe and that Hanna's own brothers' were inappropriate and her boyfriend couldn't be trusted.

I believe Angela nagged all 3 of them into getting rid of the Rhodens - lit the match to having them killed.

Had Angela said that Hanna was a good mother, S was safe with her and safe with her boyfriend (finance) etc...Then I do not believe the murders would have occurred. Angela nagged and nagged and LIED about there being problems where NONE EXISTED! All because Angela wanted custody. Angela wanted to be mom. Angela wanted total control.

Angela deserves LWOP but she has 26 more years to miss her family, then they will still be in prison when she is out. I doubt her brother and his family will be thrilled to see her. I will have to listen to her brother's testimony again. Get an idea of how he feels about her.

This Case isn't over until all 4 are in State prison. Once I can post their 4 prison mugshots and what prisons they are all sent to, then I will know justice has been served and this Case is done. The damage won't go away, but the 4 Wagners will be PUT away.

Any word on where George will be sent now that he has been sentenced ?

  • #434
Probably won't know exactly until he is there. I think Orient south of Columbus is the going guess. From there he will get assigned his permanent housing with 3 squares and a cot.

Any word on where George will be sent now that he has been sentenced ?

He is in Scioto County jail until they transfer him into the custody of the Ohio prison system called the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

Inmates entering the Ohio prison system start out at a Reception Center.

According to this:

He will be transferred to the Orient, Ohio, Correctional Reception Center, about 17.5 miles southwest of Columbus.

Prison Intake
Inmates sentenced to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction are processed through one of three reception centers, based on their gender and/or county of commitment. The Ohio Reformatory for Women, located in Marysville, is responsible for intake processing of all female inmates sentenced to serve a period of incarceration within a DRC facility.

Male inmates are assigned to their designated intake center based upon their county of commitment. The Lorain Correctional Institution, located in Grafton, Ohio, processes male inmates from twenty-five counties in the northern part of Ohio.

Male inmates from the remaining sixty-three counties are processed through the Correctional Reception Center located in Orient, Ohio.

My guess is that when it comes to Reception Centers and prisons, that the 3 Wagner men won't be in the same buildings at the same time. I believe they will keep them separated at different prison facilities.

They plotted revenge and jail escape together, and are obviously more dangerous when they are together. Also, Jake turned State's evidence against Billy and George which implicated both of them in the 22 charges against them, thus, Jake needs to be protected from Billy and George in case they seek revenge.

Jake "the rat" is trying to turn himself into Jake "the preacher." Preacher sounds better than being "a rat" who ratted out his family.

I keep forgetting that Rita still has to be sentenced. Her 5 felonies were dropped and she was able to plead guilty to just one misdemeanor.

As a reminder.........

NEWCOMB, RITA JO

Charge # 1 - Felony 5th Degree FORGERY

Charge # 2 - Felony 5th Degree FORGERY

Charge # 3 - Felony 5th Degree FORGERY

Charge #4 - Felony 5th Degree OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE

Charge # 5 - Felony 3rd Degree PERJURY

12/02/2019 PLEA OF GUILTY -- DEFENDANT HAS ENTERED A PLEA OF GUILTY TO THE STIPULATED LESSER INCLUDED OFFENSE OF COUNT 4, TO WIT: OBSTRUCTING OFFICIAL BUSINESS, 2921.31, M-2

Obstructing Official Business is typically a 2nd degree misdemeanor under Ohio law. This charge carries a maximum 90 days in jail and a $750 fine.

Canepa said if Rita gives her full cooperation in testifying that the prosecution would ask for her to get a low sentence, probably, I assume, just probation. She was on house arrest for a year but then told the truth and agreed to testify in any trials and she did testify at George's trial and will at Billy's if he has one.

So she will have fulfilled her plea deal with the court, so I think they will recommend she get probation. I have some sympathy towards Rita because Angela told her that if she didn't lie for her then "they will kill me."

Making Rita feel like she had to protect her daughter, possibly from harm or death. Angie took advantage of the mother-daughter bond and twisted it.

Rita got caught up in her daughter's terrible lies and terrible manipulation. I think we have all learned how Angie treats people when she wants her way.

Do I think Rita should have lied, no. Do I understand it? Yes. Should Rita get put in jail? No. But there should be some consequences like fines, community service, probation.....Those types of options other than jail.

Will the families have something to say to her at her sentencing?

We will see.

Surprise. ETA Who's paying for him now?

Based on the two items he's appealing, I'm not seeing much success, unless I'm missing something. Although I agree with #2, I don't feel that either of these would have changed the outcome of his verdict. IANAL, but I see no legs to his appeal. JM2

Is it ok to put this link into the Media, Links & Timelines thread? We should probably post the trial docs from GW4's trial over there for future reference.

Glad @Betty P has approved JW's Testimony Transcript, to add to ML&T. Is it discussable now on the main board? TYIA.

Just finished victim impact statements and sentencing. Eight consecutive life sentences plus 100+ years. Much deserved. I only wish AW got the same. Hoping for a plea from G3 but I'm not banking on that.

If it’s the Pike County Common Pleas Court’s original version, the Mods should approve it, right. It’s not up to me. Maybe we should ask them to verify?
