I believe this RI move is due to security. One of these 3 things:

1.) His life is being threatened

2.) He wants to kill Jake - he said some pretty negative stuff about Jake in his testimony and Jake helped convict him

3.) Word is out that he is getting local help to make an escape

I'm not done with this. I'm calling some Rhoden reporters to see if they can help find out what is going on and why the State of Ohio is so incompetent they can't even house their own inmate. Paying RI to do it for them!

And why is the State of Ohio misleading the public, making everyone think that George is still at the Ohio Reception Center? There should be transparency about his placement.

The maximum security building housed 359 inmates at a cost of $94,487 per inmate, per year.

I would tend to think it is due to safety reasons for him. It would not be that surprising if all 4 of them ended up being transferred to an out of state prison.

Being transferred out of state might happen more than is realized. Chris Watts as transferred out of state due to being in danger I believe.

There are quite a few articles about inmate transfers and why it may happen.

If the answer is #3, then keeping his new location under wraps might be the best option.

Not sure about the Ohio prison he was housed in before, but private, for-profit prisons are notorious for being flimsy and poorly run. Better if he’s in RI.

I wonder which person on the outside would try to help him escape? Someone who hidesthat he/she murder weapons on their property? Someone who was in on the discussions about escaping before the arrests?

An inmate from Ohio may be transferred out of State if it is determined that he/she constitutes a threat to the security of the institution, it's staff, other inmates, or the inmate themselves.

No information is considered public information on interstate corrections compact or federal inmates.

It is the policy of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) to ensure inmates transferred to and from out-of-state jurisdictions are handled in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code and the Interstate Corrections Compact Agreement between the sending and receiving states and/or agencies.

Hope everyone is doing well. I see the cat is out of the bag so good luck with trying to figure it all out.o_O Just keep in mind that he was moved once before, and the "WHY" behind it. Take care and stay safe.

Sigh... What will that be 8 years after the murders and 5 and a half after the arrests, or am I miscounting?!
Hoping after all these years of following this case I get to live long enough to see this last trial. Maybe the state of ohio needs the extra time to refill their coffers for a strong finish.

I am trying to keep up with this case that I have followed since shortly after it happened and did a pretty good job of it including the GW3 trial but life has now gotten in the way. So I think I missed or can't read between the lines what you mean by 'cat out of the bag.' Can someone explain to me like a 3 yr old what has happened or you think has happened. TIA.

I believe they may be referring to George being moved to a Rhode Island prison. I could be incorrect.

Wagner, originally confined in Ohio, was recently transferred to a prison in Rhode Island. This move, shrouded in mystery, has sparked a flurry of questions and speculations. But officials on both ends have kept their lips sealed, citing security reasons.

The elusive statement about Wagner’s status in Rhode Island was that he was being housed there under “an interstate-compact agreement” with Ohio. According to this agreement, one state can transfer its inmate to another state’s jurisdiction. This typically happens to facilitate specific requirements that the original state cannot provide, such as certain types of rehabilitation or security arrangements. It can also happen if there are threats to the inmate’s life, or if the inmate’s presence in a particular facility is a threat to others. The agreement ensures that the inmate’s sentence continues as if they were in their home state.

Despite the interstate-compact agreement, Rhode Island officials were quick to clarify that Wagner is still legally an Ohio inmate. They redirected all further inquiries to Ohio, ensuring that the responsibility and the narrative remained with his home state.

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) proved to be equally tight-lipped when contacted on Monday. A spokeswoman merely confirmed Wagner’s relocation and refused to offer further information. Citing “security concerns,” she insisted that she had revealed all she could. As for the pressing question of why Wagner was moved — this, she said, was confidential information.

You are very welcome. I see the media finally caught up. Gonna take a wild guess that he was transported on a flight.

I knew it. My opinion. That not just inmates but most staff would hate George when he got to State Prison, and that some would go out of their way to make him miserable - there are many ways. Including, putting something unsavory in their bags when packing them up, leaving behind some of their items, not giving them a wake-up call so they miss things, writing them up excessively, excessively searching their cells which means they dump out their belongings and bedding - a real mess, etc....

So they (staff - administration) must really hate George to send him where they just sent him!

Sure they (top - administration) can site security issues until the cows come home, but only someone they abhor gets sent to where they just sent him.

Not only to one of the worst prisons in the Country but also far far away from anyone who is on his visitor's list. No one can visit him that far away, basically.

And yes he has a visitor's list because I called them myself to see if he was there and they asked me my relationship to him and if I was on his visitor's list.

His prison is so old, 145 years old, that it has actually been "condemned" by a federal judge and has no normal ventilation for air conditioning and heat. RIDOC (Rhode Island Department of Corrections) itself acknowledges that the building is unsafe.

August 30th, 2022

Today, as Rhode Islanders shop and eat in Garden City’s air-conditioned, high-end stores, 292 human beings are trapped down the street in a solid brick building with no functioning ventilation or air conditioning systems.

This is Rhode Island’s Maximum Security facility, where incarcerated people went on hunger strike last fall and again on August 22. A Rhode Island federal judge found Max unfit for habitation over four decades ago — yet the state never stopped condemning people to its brutal conditions.

In 1977, Judge Raymond Pettine wrote that the building’s “antiquated” ventilation system “lowers resistance to disease.”

No, his transfer from Ross County Jail.
Oh sorry. I thought you meant to RI about the cat out of the bag and then thought you were talking about when he was transferred from Ross also. Thanks

George can run but he can't hide. He, and the other 3, will forever have a big target on their backs. They can live on the moon and people will know how they treated those babies, even in RI.

I wonder why they refer to him as Ohio's worst killer? Of all of the Wagners, Jake seemed the worst, most cold blooded; George perhaps second.

HA!

When I asked if he was there, to confirm the Vine information, thanks again for that, they asked me what my relationship is to him. Guy on phone asked me this because I wanted to know if he was in their Rhode Island prison.

So to get the information I said I was a "friend."

I know, it's disgusting to have to give, yes, my name and pretend I'm his friend. The officer confirmed he was there, that yes, he is the correct George Wagner.

Then he wanted to know if I wanted to get on his visitor's list. I said Ohio is too far away to visit and he's like "oh yah, of course."

Now none of this means I want to go to RI and visit George!!!!!!

But great joke on me.

This was all before CA just posted the Ohio article today that confirms that George is in RI. I only called the RI prison because we only had the Vine information to go on - no article.

Now I have 3 different confirmations that GW4 is in RI.

I have always been interested in what prison he would get sent to. I knew it would be maximum security. It just never crossed my mind that Ohio would want him out of their prison system altogether. I think they did this to get revenge on him because they have made it so no one can visit him and his prison is so terrible, one of the worst.

I do not believe for a minute that they couldn't secure him in Ohio if they wanted to. They do what they want. He is a very hated inmate. As the article says:

He is "considered the worst murderer in Ohio." Well, in the OH prison system because Jake will be the worst when he gets there. He is still in jail not sentenced yet for those who are unsure.

2 Cents
