Am I understanding this right. No audio or video but will be able to see exhibits if presented. I’m confused

yes. its live but Bobby Jo Manley has opted out of both video and audio recording

Watch Live: Pike County Massacre Trial - OH v. George Wagner IV Day Two

Just do not pay attention to the chatroom though. Disrespectful people on there crying about how they cant hear and see and how this is not right....blah blah blah and some in the chat there putting a rumor out there that both Jake and Angela Wagner have also opted out for both audio/video through their attorneys. heck, some of them are mad that they cannot see the death photos etc

Well I'm not in any chatroom .. but I'm crying about it too ;)

I feel like the vast majority of witnesses will choose to not be filmed - at least the family and friends of the victims and defendant.

I won't be surprised if we begin to see future trials where witness opt out of audio and video during testimony. Example: In upcoming Vallow/Daybell trial, defense requests banning cameras in court.

Looks like George's defense team has planted a few folks in there. Some of the comments look familiar.

Good reading from reporter/journalist Chris Graves who interviewed the victims family members and the killers and wrote extensively about the murders

ETA: I think someone asked about April Manley's texts to Dana the night of the murders and Dana's last text shown going to Chris Rhoden. In news reports it was stated that April had texted or talked to Dana the night of the murders at about 1 am. According to Canepa's statement yesterday, Dana's last sent a series of texts to Chris Rhoden at 3:32 am. If so, April's texts to Dana weren't indicative of anything. Dana was up, texting, etc. for a couple hours after that.

Also, if Dana wasn't killed until after 3:32 am, it was getting close to sunrise. Wagners were taking big risks being out around 4 am. Remember, it was turkey season and there were a lot of hunters in the area waiting for the season to start at 30 minutes before sunrise.

Agree with you. This leaves us with Law Enforcement and expert witnesses. I wonder if they will opt out too?

I know the defense lawyers HAVE to do their job but can not imagine having the guts to cross examine BJManley.
There's really no need, IMO. the defense is saying GWIV was not there so what could they possibly cross examine the person(s) who found the deceased about? I'm sure JM and DS will follow today. Then most likely some of the LE/EMS first responders.

I think we know what BJM will say. She has said it already. I understand the reluctance of being video and audio taped. This is western Appalachia where many of the older folks dont want their pictures taken, let alone air time. If we can hear testimony from LEO and expert witnesses, at least they can fill in some of the details. I really want to hear JW and AW but i doubt theyll play. 2 cowards. I hope we get great reporting from those inside.

I had planned to stay up all night to watch but kinda senseless now.

I think for many the not video and audie taping would be out of shyness and not fear. These sort of folks are rugged and arent afraid of confrentation, generally. JMO

Are they able to? They’re doing it as part of their jobs so I’m wondering if they even can.
Honestly I totally understand the rest, minus JW and AW who are not even human, though as I would opt out as well.

Has the defense provided a witness list for the court? Has it beeen made public? Im curious how many he has on the list. Outside of expert testimony i can imagine GW has alibi witnesses willing to lie for him.

The sequence of murders was posted on last thread, could someone post it here too? Thanks.

I remember one trial where a police officer's testimony was audio only. However, I believe he was an undercover cop.

One other thing we should take into consideration. Some of these witnesses were eviscerated by LEO, social media and other news outlwts from the jump.. it was like a flock of vultures came in and picked every word apart and disected everything. Early on the were under the gun. I dont blame them now to shut it down

Per the video the reporter stated JW and JM were texting at 2 am. So was that AW creating an alibi for JW? We learned yesterday JW, BW, GW left their phones at home. I wonder what the texts between them said?

Bobby was one of them. I remember coming across these different forums etc, not here, that would blame her for the deaths and say that within the 911 phone call, you could hear someone telling her what to say in the background etc and i was like - wtf - these people are nuts

Does anyone know if BJM is still on the stand? I would like to think that if there were multiple witnesses in a row that are opting out, that we would at least hear the judge speaking in between so that people who are trying to watch know what is going on. I have not been watching Court TV, so don't what they are saying about coverage. I do see on the bottom right screen that it says it will resume soon.

I have no idea...they may be on a morning break. I got the laundry done and am going to take a nap, if there is any testimony from today that can be aired I will watch it later, I hate the waiting!

Wouldn't the mention of, you will hear he was not there, he was here and coberating evidence to that, have been in the defense opening statement? IIRC nothing was mentioned about GWIV having an alibi. He's probably going to say I went to bed and was sleeping. JMO

The people who discovered the bodies of the Rhoden family members:

  • Bobby Jo Manley: The sister of victim, Dana Manley Rhoden. She found the first four victims and called 911 to report the crimes. She is likely one of the first people who will testify in the case. She recounted what she found in two interviews with me in 2016.
  • Emma and Billy Morgan: Wife and husband, the Morgans were with Bobby Jo Manley when she drove from her home to Chris Rhoden, Sr.'s trailer around 8 a.m. on April 22, 2016.
  • James Manley: The brother of Bobby Jo and Dana Rhoden. Manley went to Dana's trailer to check on them after Bobby Jo called her father to tell him about her family members' death. James Manley went to his sister's trailer that morning. Officials have said Jake Wagner, one of those charged, text with Manley in the early morning hours of the killings.
  • April Manley: James Manley's wife.
  • Donald Stone: The cousin to the Rhoden family, he is the man who went to check on Kenneth Rhoden and found him dead with one gunshot to the eye.
