PIKE COUNTY TRIAL: Matt White, from BCI, is a forensic firearms examiner.
Prosecutor Andrew Wilson is doing the questioning now.
White is certified as an expert in this case, with defense agreement.
He started in West Virginia, moved to Hamilton County coroner's office, then to BCI.
First image - that Hornady 40 S&W brand bullet deconstructed. Considered a jacketed hollow point.
Red polymor tip on it is meant for bullet to expand when it hits target.
White explains that hollow points are designed to create maximum damage.
This is centerfire cartridge - primer is in the center.
This is a 22 long rifle cartridge - rimfire. Lead bullets with brass sheen.
Doesn't mean it has to be fired out of a rifle. That name is generic - can be fired from a pistol, revolver, etc.
Here's another angle of the rimfire cartridge - this is a Remington.
For comparison.
White walks us through this diagram of a centerfire full metal jacketed 7.62x39mm round.
Considered a high-powered round associated with rifles.
Here's the 7.62x39 mm bullet White disassembled to show the jury
White is giving the jury a crash course in how a bullet is fired - and how a cartridge gets markings on it that he examines in the lab.
This is a Walther Colt 1911 22 pistol - firing the 22 LR ammunition White just showed the jury.
He is explaining how it fires.
Remember - this came up as being used at Chris Sr's property.
Corrects - it's the .40 caliber that is from Chris Sr's property - White just showed this taken from Chris Sr's floor.
[bare with me, juggling some other tasks, so I'm a bit in and out today]
