Question to all the knowledgeable ammo people.

That box of shell casings found packed up in a bin box, wrapped sealed with black duck tape that was removed from one of the W's trailers during the search...those casings all had round and slightly off-centered indentations in them. Does that mean they'd already been fired? So they were spent casings? As in W's put a half dozen or so (the casings box, styrofoam insert with individual round holes for each casing, was not full) used casings back in their box to keep? After been shot can casings be reused with the damage (indentations) done by a previous firing pin still on it?

Maybe the brass catcher worked and these are some 'souvenirs' put away. Don't want to be refilling and reshooting spent casings I don't think.

Yes, the firing pin makes that indentation, and yes the spent casings can be reloaded with a new primer installed (where the dent is). Edit: the firing pin makes the dent in the primer, a new primer can be installed in a spent casing. But I don't think Ws we're reloading ammo.

As mentioned, moo, they were caught in the brass catchers and saved as keepsakes.

While I know LE was doing their job, I feel really bad for everyone having to look through all that stuff! And I thought I had alot... not so much! (;

WOW that gives me chills if those were the ones used during the murders...as you say, kept as keepsakes. I wonder being that the brass catcher has mess on one side if any blow back evidence could then possibly have been recovered on those.

He stated these are some of the cartridge casings from the box that had various calibers and these are 303 British. I know nothing about them, but wanted to add the photo and description so maybe someone that knows bullets better could respond.

have you looked in your loft or attic lately? We emptied ours a few years back so we could sort out what belonged to the boys. They've all got their own homes now so they might as well have what's theirs.

anyhow, our Lounge was packed to over spill. What a shocker !

If the SKS had a flash hider or muzzle break on the muzzle it would be simple to unscrew it and then mount the suppressor.

Don't know about Glock but Walther makes an adapter to fit some of it's .22 pistols with an
"accessory".
I saw that but, I'd have to see evidence that they (W4s) were capable based on ballistics from Agent White.

After witnesses handled the bag with the collected "Silver Cell Phone" the prosecution handed him another small flat package marked CC287 and said, ok don't give me your narrative on this one just answer my questions. Questions were just, is it marked that you collected it, was it collected in accordance with all the correct practices and storage blah, blah, blah. He wasn't asked what it was nor was a picture shown.

Wonder what that could be, being kept under wraps for a later date? Very intriguing.

303 British is a rifle round, and I also recall the witness saying that now.

I should stay out of commenting until I'm not busy. ahem

Catching up. Could someone post the date the Wagner's returned to Ohio from their extended stay in Alaska? Thanks!

Would this be something used that night? Even though my husband and kids hunt and I know some about the guns they use or what they need to hunt with, I just hear a foreign language when it comes to calibers, rounds, firing pins, brands, types, etc. I could show you a shotgun, a rifle, a handgun (no clue how to tell the differences in all the various handguns though) and I could maybe point out a muzzleloader if I had to, but start talking bullets and the only thing I know is shotgun bullets have lots of pellets in them or something that basically explodes and other than that they all seem the same to me. LOL I know they aren't, but I don't totally get the differences in why one would be used, what weapons can handle which bullets or that type of thing.

Edited to add: I went back to listen to get this info so I could share it once we were discussing it.

This was updated 12 minutes go. Worth reading
among other things, apparently G4 found it necessary to purchase a new gun 5 days after the murders.
THREE ski masks. THREE.

A gun receipt, signed by George, was found in the truck's rear passenger seat. It was for the purchase of a Berretta 92FS, bought on April 27, 2016, five days after the murders.

On the floorboard of the truck, investigators also found and collected a ski mask.

Scene three was the black trailer attached to the truck labeled scene two. Inside that, investigators searched a clear, plastic tote and, inside, discovered another ski mask that was collected.

Scene four was a gray pick-up truck Fortner said was registered to Jake. It was locked, so agents had to have a local sheriff's deputy open it with a slim jim, he said. Inside that truck, on the rear floorboard behind the driver's seat, agents found a third ski mask.

IIRC, on my old timeline, we couldn't pinpoint a certain date they returned. I posted "Sometime in the Spring" of 2018, they returned. This was according to Gov. DeWine's press conference at the time of the arrests.

In July of 2018, the Pike County Grand Jury began hearing testimony from Rita Jo Newcomb about forging custody documents.

Drawings of crimes scenes, illustrations of gear to wear?

  • #536
Wow did that notebook have drawings of one of the houses? I just caught 6 foot hallway. I'll rewind and try to see if I recognize a layout for one of the homes.

Thanks. Spring of 2018 sounds right. Didn't AW's father die around May 2018 and they returned just after that?

....and the Wagners were all arrested November 13, 2018. It was an exciting day on this thread.

Yes, that's what some were guessing. Some speculation that Billy came back early for that, but not sure.

Oh, man, was it ever. Most exciting, though, was the day Jake confessed. It took a while to sink in.

OT - why were they spending $900 for passports? That just seems a little high. In the old days, kids could be on a parent's passport.
