LM and you were 100% correct! And it turned out to be another local family's criminal plot. Did you see that one coming? I certainly didn't. I just couldn't fathom a mother, father and their two sons slaughtering a whole family...mother, father, three kids and then three more relations. Quite a bunch of vipers the W's have been proven to be!
I did think it was possible. I posted on here a news article about a man in Georgia who killed his ex wife, their children, her sister (who the ex wife was living with), her BIL and her sisters child , then drove 90 miles and killed his ex wife's mother, father and brother.

I also posted an article in a Houston TX paper about a mother, father, son and daughter who hired a hitman to kill the son's ex wife to get custody of their two children.

Both of these pre date 2016. So entire families killing or being killed was nothing new to me.

The only thing that surprised me was the great grandmothers, Fred and Rita.

Isn't that the way the court system works? Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. If the prosecution does not prove him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, then he walks free. Whether we all on here think he is guilty does not matter. We are not on the jury. If he walks then we have no option but to bow to the greater knowledge that the jury has and live with it.

One of the things that is hampering all of us is we have only heard about 1/3rd of the testimony in this case because of opt outs. Had we been allowed to see or even hear Jake and Angie's testimonies then we could better judge for ourselves if they were lying or not.

But I can tell you that what we have heard from Jake and Angie are a series of news articles and a MT interview of Angie where they both lied their azzes off.

It is really sad that some people have, for over 6 years believed any thing that came out of Jake and Angie's mouths was a bald face lie but yet now believe that everything that comes out of their mouths is the gospel truth.

I guess it is whatever floats your boat as to whether two people who have blatantly lied for over 6 years just suddenly woke up one day and said I am never going to lie again. Everything I say from here on out is the absolute truth.

But it's whatever gets you through the night I guess. For myself I know that a leopard never changes it's spots. A liar always lies.

But as Jake famously said "I reckon we just missed it by hours." and "All the lies they told us" said Charlie Reader. This is the same man and woman who is now speaking the gospel truth according to some.

Well whatever snake oil they are selling I am not buying and i hope the jury does not either.

JMO
I heard only the 10 minute snippet that the news paper released, of Jake's testimony. Even LE opted out. That concerned me. I truly do not think LEOs should be allowed to do so. They're doing their job. I don't find that commendable. They work for the public.

As you said, we've heard very little testimony, really. We actually didn't see many visual aids, evidence, etc... until the newspapers gave us more.

My basis, for my conclusion, cannot be that my gut says there's a 98.999% chance he played some role in the murders. My conclusion, has to come from hard facts and evidence and testimony that has been available to me. Our view is very different than what the jurors has viewed.

They have provided evidence and sworn confessions that prove GW4s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Well they have certainly proved Jake and Angie's guilt at least. I haven't seen them prove George's yet though.

Of course I know a jury will do that and then it's up to the judge to accept their verdict. I've been following this case and trial since April 22, 2016. I may not always be on WS, but it's not the only place to read nor watch, nor is it the be all end all. There's plenty of news sites, research sites, and newspapers that have carried this case. You've done a fine job documenting, but I have my own documentation as well. I disagree about the state. That's YOUR opinion and you know what they say about opinions, they're like keisters, everyone has one. If "opinions" are what is running our jury system these days then we are all in sad shape. I'll not be talked down to because your opinion of my belief is one of distaste, sir/madam.
I've been following this case and trial since April 22, 2016
Me too.

What spoke volumes to me is that JW puts he and his brother in the truck bed hidden, then under the truck ready and waiting to start firing. GWIV either lost his nerve or couldn't see with the oil filter in his sites. JW takes the gun from his brother and BW gets CRSR to the door again. JW opens fire as does BW inside. Then they pile in the two vehicles and go to KR's then they come back to DR's (I know I'm omitting FR's) and GWIV stands guard outside CRJR's room, gun in hand.

Guilty, Guilty, Guilty...GWIV was there (went there to keep his brother safe according to defense lawyer). The motive/reason he was there matters not one iota, just the fact he was there and participating. There's no way around that, he was there.

Then the cover-up and all the ranting about everything is just icing that finishes it off. I think the jurors will reason it all out. AJMO

I am though very interested to see what the defense puts up.
I agree. Much of it does hit very hard with me. I've dismissed nothing and have re-watched tapes and re-read testimony til I thought my eyes would bleed. I'm really hoping there's something they've got left that can be that piece for me, that I can say, okay, they've proven it to me now, the burden of proof, for me, has been met.

I'd love to have heard G4 say, on the wiretaps, for example: I can't believe I helped you kill your ex and her family and you can't even make EA leave!! But I just heard him screaming a lot about possibly losing 'vine to T.c. and was t.c. at the border and after MT, he screamed constantly. EA was this or that, she wanted a library card, he was stupid, etc... It seemed most people who testified about g4 called him the more relaxed of the two and even "bubbly" at times. Maybe he screamed constantly b/c after MT, he found out his family murdered eight people?

really the question becomes is this ok? are we as a society ok with absolutely requiring evidence outside of common sense. if a murder is commited with no innocent witnesses, no dna is left behind, and no video evidence exists. is this murder now un-convictable without a confession? because this is what the wagners plan was and its what they almost accomplished. if jake had not cracked the other 3 may have gotten off . even though its 100 percent they killed 8 ppl the cumlative effect of defendents rights case law is just like the pass interference rules in the nfl. they keep adding restrictions. and it fundamentaly changes the game. every nfl fan knows its gotten much easier to complete a pass since the rules restricting contact to the wr. just like its gotten way easier to kill someone and be found not guilty or get a sweet plea bargain as a killer . difference is ones a game and the other is protecting peoples lives.
are we as a society ok with absolutely requiring evidence outside of common sense.

This is what we as a society have had as the rock solid base of our justice system since 1776. You must be proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law, by a jury of your peers, to be convicted of a crime.

If you are ever charged with a crime you are innocent of, or even if you are guilty of, you will be eternally grateful that the founding fathers of this country put that in the justice system.

We did not "come to this" as a society, it has been this way ever since we became a free country in 1776.

There has been nothing added to Lady Justice. Proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law by a jury made up of your peers has always been the law.

Nothing would cut a person's natural bubbly and relaxed personality to shreds than being involved in a conspiracy to kill 8 human beings...and then having the law on your trail, nipping at your heels...so to speak. AJMO

"It is really sad that some people have, for over 6 years believed any thing that came out of Jake and Angie's mouths was a bald face lie but yet now believe that everything that comes out of their mouths is the gospel truth"

Violent criminals lie all the time, before they're arrested and after. When it happens that they either see the errors of their ways (for whatever reasons) and/or their lawyer(s) convince them that to continue lying will get them the death penalty, they more times than not come around to speaking the truth...the truth that fits the evidence.

There's nothing sinister in an accused violent criminal finally speaking the truth to saved their life. Historically it's happened countless times and it will continue to happen I'm sure.

People make too much out of the fact that JW told his lawyers at first that it was all his doing. Most likely they confronted him that, according to the prosecution's evidence, that boat don't float JW. That will ensure you all are convicted and put on death row. JW saw the light AND a way to save even the most stubborn of his family from recieving the death penalty. That would be called making a good deal, IMO, if you and your family are murderers. It seems that's what JW thought anyway, as he took that deal.
AJMO
JW saw the light when his grandmother rolled and confessed. ;) He knew it was all over and he was afraid to die. I looked up what I'd referred to about his earlier testimony to his lawyers:
"
"He testified that he had been praying about what to do and had lied to his lawyers about committing the murders. A short time later, he said that he confessed to his lawyers and detailed his mother, father and brother’s involvement in the conspiracy but did not plan to cooperate and wanted to go to trial. He didn’t plan to testify at his trial because he would have to lie.

By the Spring of 2021, Wagner said his feelings had changed and he decided to resolve his case. He sat down with Canepa, Pike Co. Prosecutor Rob Junk and special prosecutor Andy Wilson and told them “everything that had happened” over a period of two to three days. Wagner said his plea agreement required him to testify accurately and fully. Wagner said in exchange, “There was a lot that I wanted,” but ultimately it was agreed that the death specifications would be dismissed against each Wagner family member in exchange for his truthful testimony."

He led them to the weapons, he was able to lead them to the "murder truck" because he'd become aware of where it was located after overhearing his Uncle Bobby discussing how nice it was that Billy Wagner had given his niece, Katy, a truck.

Canepa went through the plea agreement Wagner signed. When asked why he pleaded guilty to all eight murders despite admitting to only killing five of the victims, Wagner said, “Well, I just took it all, I reckon.”
----------------------------------------

Note: Someone had mentioned the goose box and why they'd keep the weapons so closeby, in the anchors.
Jw stated, He added that he was told, “Always act like you belonged where you was and if you were to hide something, hide it in plain sight.”

And yet he's still called a liar. Either he saw the light with his lawyer's pragmatic help or because he found religion. Either way, you seem to agree he told the truth...but only lied about GWIV being there and involved?

That would be my guess. I would say after BCI showed him the evidence against Jake and Angie he got very frustrated with their stupidity and very stressed out. He knew that even if he was not arrested or even thought of as a suspect his life was going to change drastically when his mother and brother were locked up.

I just don't trust he told the whole truth. I can't say what he lied about and what he didn't. I just found it odd "Canepa went through the plea agreement Wagner signed. When asked why he pleaded guilty to all eight murders despite admitting to only killing five of the victims, Wagner said, “Well, I just took it all, I reckon.” " Yet the proffer is that he killed 5, and shot one.

Maybe I'm overthinking it but I find it pretty big difference. I said, I'm not that concerned with his lying. He's lied his whole life. They all have. So it's difficult to know what to believe and what not to believe. There were people who even confessed to these murders who didn't commit them. Blows my mind. I can never figure that out when folks do that. I digress, I've been around a lot of jailbirds over the past 50 years or so. They tell you what you want to hear to get what they want. whether it's the junky, the thief, or the murderer.

In truth though killing all 8 or just 5 and wounding one, it's all actions he did that resulted in the murder of 8 human beings so he's guilty either way. I honestly think JW had a skewed picture of himself being chivalrous and taking all the blame. My child we were saving etc...and he wasn't going to let GWIV's thoughts about him being the weak link come true.

When it all was shown to him, explained to him that no matter what he said the other 3 were not going to avoid justice because the evidence showed their guilty involvement, well then JW's attention shifted to keeping his family alive.

I keep thinking back on the Clutter Family murders, committed Nov 15, 1959 by Perry Smith and Dick Hickok. A family of 4 innocent people murdered by total strangers in a home burglary gone bad. It was the subject of the book and movie “In Cold Blood”.

Police were able to convict Smith and Hickok based on a shoeprint in the victim’s blood and a confession in which Perry Smith accused Hickok of taking part in the shooting. No other evidence connected them to the shooting, yet both eventually confessed, were tried, convicted and executed.

That was sufficient evidence, back when a confession and testimony against an accomplice meant something. All the evidence was circumstantial. The jury wouldn’t have dreamed of setting free killers because they didn’t think a confession and testimony against an accomplice was enough.

Today some folks insist on DNA or nothing, a ridiculously high standard.

JW and AW were never required to tell the truth until they were on the witness stand.
Lying on the witness stand could put the DP back on the table for them. Then what was the point of taking a plea deal. I already know you will say they lied because AC made them lie and implicate GWIV to get the plea deal.
I don’t know that JW ever said he killed all eight victims. I believe he may have said he was responsible for them getting killed.
Similar but very different claims…

Jury will come back on Tuesday, 11/15/22 @ 9am for defense to resume its case. On Monday, 11/14/22, prosecution will introduce exhibits/evidence & the judge will rule whether it is enough to continue or whether he should acquit for lack of evidence under Rule 29. No jury on Monday.
Some of defense witnesses: Samantha Staley, earlier testified that her father worked for Wagner IV’s grandmother, Fredericka Wagner. Jeff Tackett, earlier testified about the criminal lifestyle of Wagner IV’s father. Bernard Brown allowed the Wagners to store trucks & trailers filled with their possessions at his Peebles car business from mid-2017 to mid-2018, the year the family spent in Alaska. Skid Montgomery & Vance Walls have both been convicted on marijuana charges. Also subpoenaed were Shawn Walls, with the same address as Vance Walls & Nathan Walls. The defense also sent subpoenas to West Chester police Capt. WAVERLY, Ohio -- In nine weeks of testimony, prosecutors in the Pike County murder trial of George Wagner IV have revealed much about the crime, the victims and the accused.

This week, Wagner IV’s attorneys continue their defense, after bringing on seven witnesses last week.

Not sure if this was was posted slready, sorry if it’s a repeat:

I know you and Raize have been here since the beginning, with the rest of us, doing great work and analysis.

I agree, the dumb Ohio law allowing anyone to opt out of A/V recording has backfired in this trial. It's caused some mistrust of those watching the proceedings. Hopefully, the Ohio GA and DeWine will get rid of or change this law. For now, we can trust the jury, who has been seeing and hearing all the testimony, and Judge Deering. JMO
