Dudley, I’ve seen print articles “the house in Alaska was ready for them”. I can’t find the articles again (of course) but one can interpret the preparedness of the house as LE was ready to welcome them. I just don’t think by “ready” anyone meant the Welcome Wagon (as we know them) stopped by. I think they had a totally different welcoming committee.
They used CB radios on the road. Bet those were monitored.

I will have to search a little in my spare time.

I used to train dogs in agility and obedience, and we participated in competitions. Since most obedience and agility trials were held in conjunction with dog shows I spent a fair amount of time around dog show folks.

I also used to ride, and participated in enough events that I was on the fringe of equestrian circles.

Knowing a little about both groups of folks I can imagine that gossip about Fred is spreading like wildfire.

*Disclaimer: I have nothing at all against dog show or equestrian folks, and I do not intend to offend anyone. Your experiences may vary. I am speaking about my own experience from the specific area where I lived, during a fairly short period of time, and what I observed with my rather limited association.

He may have been home schooled and not in public schools at all resulting in a 7th grade level education. Not sure about Ohio and non public school standards after what I have seen lately. Seems to have been a fair number of charter school scandals over the last several years here.

This is so true. Maybe he was such a handful (early on) he was kept home. Generally, some type of curriculum must be adhered to for home schooling. Idk if home school was popular during his childhood. The W’s, it seems, would have been far to busy to hold a formal home school. Perhaps he went to the group home for some educational classes.

The attorney stared straight ahead on Death Penalty, LWOP, and Life w/eligible for parole after 30 years. But, dhaaaang....the "nod" was the tell. Uh, think I'll push my chips "all in" on that guess. (Kind of a no-brainer, too....who wouldn't want the lowest sentence?)

Great close up of RW's large silver bracelet(immediately following the nod)...on left wrist...wonder if she owns an I-watch that doubles as an I-hear? Can you imagine how many of us have probably been recorded without our knowledge, in one form or another? wow.

I’d love to know what inspired Fred’s interest in the group home. Is there a relative on her or her late husband’s side living there? I think it’s far more than a tax write off.
Is there possibly someone in her immediate family she wanted to ensure would always have housing on the farm (providing he didn’t end up housed by the state), or what? With the main focus of the farm being animals, the group home strikes me as rather strange.
Msyne, tho, someone approached her, suggesting Flying W would be the perfect location.

After building those two barns, and putting up fencing, if they broke even, it would be gravy.

Every time I think of Fred marching into that courtroom and defiantly sitting at that table like she is so confident that her money will get her out of trouble, I think of Kenneth R, Gary's father standing before the camera in quiet dignity and with despair in his face talking about how his youngest son was shot three times in the head. How he told reporters at Gary's funeral "No sleep. No rest. No peace." and how he would feel 100% better when someone was arrested for killing his son. Well Kenneth did not live long enough to see his son's killers in jail.

Then I think of Geneva in her chair shaking and crying and asking in a bewildered voice "Why did the grandchildren have to die too?"

Then Lenny crying out at reporters "They are dragging my daughters name through the mud." and with tears in his eyes and his voice cracking telling the reporters "We ain't got no revenge in our hearts."

I know there are some on here who think because Fred is a mother that excuses her from turning in her son and grandsons. But for those who do, think about this. Fred isn't the only mother involved in this. There is four other mothers who will never see their kids again.

I just thought we should all remember who the real victims are in this crime.

While Fred might have found it taxing and difficult raising her own wayward son, I can guarantee it is nowhere near as difficult as it is for Lenny, Judy, Geneva, Gary's mom and Hazel's mom to wake up every single morning with the knowledge they will never see their children again.
