Pike County: Father accused in Rhoden massacre faced prior felonies
George 3 owned a trailer there at one point, and hid stolen items there. I just did a Pike County property search and a single-wide trailer at 845 Bethel Hill Rd is owned by George and Fredricka Wagner. I wonder how LE knows where Jake’s sex offense occurred. Bad karma at that place. MOO.
BBM.

It is possible JW told them in one of the interviews. JW is proud to be the father of S. I don't think he ever saw this charge coming.

Back stage tantrums. geeez? "I'm not coming out until you make sure the cameraman doesn't film me in ankle and wrist chains!"
Is anybody else getting increasingly uncomfortable by these demanding requests from a man who is accused in the murder of 8 human beings, threatening the lives of 3 public officials and already discussed escape plans with co-conspirators?:
"I want to talk to my aunts, uncles, and any shirt tail relative."
"I don't want to talk to jailers or other inmates."
"I don't want to be chained in court."
"I want to wear my own figure flattering street clothes..." (preferably monogrammed?)
So just in case you might want to know what can go wrong with "stun belts" in court. Be prepared to be grossed out!

Texas Judge Tortured Defendant With Stun Belt to Show ‘Power,’ Court Rules
In rare cases, defendants or law enforcement trainees have died after being shocked by Tasers or stun belts. More often, such shocks can cause the wearer to urinate or defecate on themselves—or to have severe anxiety.

Jumping off my aforementioned post, I see many problems with a stun belt as an alternate to conventional restraints. Who mans the stun button? What happens if the perp fakes a 'stun scenario' and falls to the floor? Armed bailiff runs to assist, perp grabs bailiffs weapon and pandemonium breaks out in a crowded court room? I'm getting anxiety just imagining what could happen. Please watch how close the armed bailiffs get to the suspect in this video.

Hanthorn had it strapped to his arm, but it’s usually fastened to the legs of defendants.

“It locked my whole arm up, every muscle group in my forearm and arm was locked. It froze me, and it got me up on my tippy toes,” Hanthorn said. “It’s discomfort, but I wouldn’t say it’s like pain.”

The cuff is strapped onto defendants’ ankles during jury trials in Rock and Walworth counties to provide control over inmates without tipping off jurors that defendants are in custody, officials said.

Rock County uses a model called a Band-It. Walworth County uses the Stun-Cuff, which is said to deliver 80,000 volts.

The 50,000 volts is the same as that delivered by a police officer’s Taser, Hanthorn noted.

Like a Taser, the stun devices deliver very low amperage, which prevents any lasting damage.
Rock County recently bought a back-up Band-It at a cost of $940.

Maybe he watched Anthony and Arias trial! Demands, demands.

I am not sure how on earth this got 7 likes but come on there is no way any of the perps are doing sh** with several armed LE just feet away. Also they will have some type of restraint just none that is visible.

Their best chsnxe is to escape in prison, I bet atleast one of them will do it too at some point.

Likes for thanking the person for the info...does not mean they liked it.

Not a respected movie, by any means, unless you're an incel who loves violence.

Appears the characters even had a sick prayer they said when they murdered people. I wonder if the Wagner family said a prayer after murdering the Rhodens? Pretty twisted.

The movie was very popular in the 90s. It was based off of real life events that the writer saw happening around him where he worked, in Los Angeles. It's good they make movies for all sensibilities, otherwise, that title wouldn't have jumped out at me. It's given me a whole different perspective on this case.

I can't believe the Judge is allowing these things, and he appears very much to be overly accommodating to the defendants. Does anyone know what is going on with that?

They want to be able to seat an impartial jury, in Pike County, and not have anything that could be used as a means to call for a mis-trial later in the case. Each of the players have a job. The judge to ensure fairness, the defense has to use all he has to defend his client, and the prosecution has to prove that JW is guilty. Right now, in the eyes of the law, and that judge, he is an innocent man.

That's where they all lived until the boys bought the Peterson Rd. place. They lived in a place on Loys' Run prior to that.

I'm not so sure. The way the defense attorneys have been somewhat aggressive, requesting changes to protect their clients and their "rights", I think they have every intention of trying to either get a mistrial, hung jury or acquittal. They seem to be in this for the long haul, with all the motions, etc.

The Ws have probably gone through a pessimistic cycle, but I think they're now (wrongly) convinced they can beat this.

ETA: There's also a slight perception of defense attorneys trying to bog down the process. Perhaps they think if they can slow the trials down and make them more costly to the county, they will give up or opt for some lesser charge. Not sure how that works, but they're definitely blowing the county budget with little help in sight from the state . I'm assuming these special "shock" restraints are going to be expensive for the county to purchase. JMO.

Outstanding assessment, Betty P. It seems the defense attorneys are picking fights right and left with the prosecution. And what really gets me is the defense attorneys coming in spouting off new motions aloud at pretrial. Aren't they supposed to file those motions ahead of time so they can be discussed in advance? TY JMO

Well, now that we know about his favorite movie, Boondock Saints, then we know he expects to be treated as a hero by LE, the courts and the public at large. He must be very perturbed that he's not getting the adulation and praise he feels he deserves. He must think he's a celebrity or something.

No, I don't think they think they'd be getting any praise. Have you seen the movie? The courtroom scene is not going anything close to the courtroom scene in Boondock Saints. There are no hostages, nor murders, thus far.

In some jails, the shower is open to half the cellblock or more. May be getting a bird bath at the toilet sink in the cell.

Looked like the 'Bewitched' nose twitch once, but the video kept locking up.

It twitched more than once, col. Several times.

Agree, the judge has to avoid a mistrial, though once things are underway we can expect the defense attorneys to move for mistrial or dismissal pretty much every day. That's what they do.

The riskiest time for inmate escapes is when they're being moved, as to and from the court. Escapes are not uncommon, nor are courtroom disruptions.

Here's one that happened in Pike County just last month. Not as dangerous as the W's but it happened

Ohio inmate escapes, is captured sitting in hot tub

Autum Satterfield, 34, fled the Pike County sheriff’s booking center at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Columbus Dispatch. She was facing a charge of possession of heroin.

Pike County deputies, Waverly police, the State Highway Patrol and local fire departments were involved in the search for Satterfield.

Her jail-issued shoes were found at a nearby farm, 10tv.com reports. A helicopter with thermal cameras was then called in to help with the search.

I'm going to watch it, maybe this weekend. Not looking forward to it as the trailers and clips I've seen are very violent and bloody. I do like Willem Dafoe's acting, though. My impression from researching it is that it glorifies the vigilantes.

I don't care one way or the other if he gets his restraints off. I do think that leg shackles would be enough, but it's no skin off my nose either way.

After seeing him a few times now, I think he has a nervous tic. Probably does it all the time.

Agree. In my 'non-expert' opinion, leg shackles might be ok. It will be up to Sheriff Reader, I suppose and he's probably a little fed up with inmate escapes these days.

OTOH, you have the Golden State Killer, Joseph DeAngelo, sitting in a cell inside the courtroom for his pre-trial hearings.

I'd want him in a cage too, perceived innocence or not. At least he's not wearing restraints. My lawyer told me that some of the stuff that happens in small towns, does not happen in large cities. There's more of an aura of confidentiality, in small towns, I guess. Everyone knows everyone in small towns. So the lawyers do a lot of arguments in chambers. Ya gotta look each other in the eye, in the local diner, right after they've sentenced your kin to 10 years... Awkward!!! :p
