They were all locals, though, weren't they? IDK, not familiar with the area, but I assume Oxygen was being truthful about those folks interviewed as locals and employees of the Wagners, etc.

ETA: Also adding it was so sad listening to some of the close friends and family of the Rhodens talking about them. Their grief is still so raw. Seeing Gary's brother break down a couple of times was heartbreaking. It makes you realize this mass murder of a family left scars and emotional damage to their friends and family that will last a lifetime.

If I recall correctly it was when Oxygen flashed their photos up they (the show) stated it. If the individuals did, it's just not sticking out in my mind. I think the reference could have been made about FW and the producers assumed it included the W4??? Not sure

Oh... I think it was also stated by the show when they flashed up the photo of the W4 in Alaska. I guess they didn't check out where they stayed in Alaska.

Agree on the family and raw emotions.

Piketon Family Murders: Could a custody battle lead to eight murders? Where is 4-year-old Sophia Wagner now?

A very odd and somewhat inaccurate quote from this Newsweek article:

No, last time I checked the perps have been arrested and are preparing for trial. It's not "open". LE is not looking for new suspects.

Another article from the Chillicothe Gazette with a lot of good photos.

5 things to know about the murder case involving the Rhodens and Wagners in Pike County
The section I reference is in here.
Exhibit 1 Wagner, Fredericka
Fredericka statement to the grand jury that she bought armor protection for Billy’s legs and arms this could be how they got past the dogs.

Jmo I agree it is extremely heartbreaking for the families. I can’t imagine their pain. It is beyond sad. I don’t know that I would be able to handle that much and I pray I never find out. Jmo

Thanks, but I do realize what a gag order is - I have followed other cases on WS that also had gag orders, one for example being the Heather Elvis case. Although, this case with the W's is the 1st time I have seen an attorney violate it to the point of revealing parts of grand jury testimony. JMO

I was merely saying, it's rare they do anything to either party, defense or prosecution, if they breech the order, b/c of the 1st and 6th amendments. I didn't realize you didn't want responses to your comment. Noted.

While I haven’t seen the Oxygen show, just remember these shows are more about entertainment then fact

Bingo. I've never seen one that didn't play fast and loose.

What about when you’re under house arrest and violating the gag order of grand jury, do you think that LE would revoke house arrest

That's up to the judge.

Well, I'll try again to see if I can get a WS lawyer to weigh in on this for us. Maybe it will help resolve some of this discussion so we can move past it. All I can say is, I've never seen an attorney and defendant put so much information into the news media before a trial has begun, especially with legal proceedings that have so many gag orders and rulings to prevent communication between defendants.

Sometimes it seems like the Rhoden Murders threads are the red-headed step-children here at WS. ;)

Please don't bring over or discuss comments made by the general public on the Oxygen FB page. They are treated exactly the same as any other social media. General commenters can be anyone and we have no way of verifying who they are or whether what they say is true.

Yes, I've read in the news of that happening. Does it happen every day? No, but that's because most defendants don't tempt fate by violating gag orders. The vast majority of defense attorneys don't encourage their clients to do that. As usual, this case and these defendants defy convention. They do unusual things.

Violating a gag order repeatedly can land you back in jail and result in the forfeiture of your bond.

Some examples of defying gag orders (seems to happen with explosive, eccentric defendants who think they're above the law)

Judge tightens gag order on ex-Trump adviser Stone, warning he could be jailed | Reuters

Judge revokes house arrest for Murphy

Violating gag orders is a very risky strategy for the defendant. It can backfire and result in pretrial publicity that works against them.

The problem with that is no security video evidence shows up on any of the inventory lists so far. What the Oxygen show is now saying is that there was security video evidence and that it didn't show anything. When they repeat how "sophisticated" the Rhodens' security system was and mention how many video cameras were on the properties, then say nothing was on the video, that implies all the cameras, all the video, which is false. Half-truths that trick viewers who haven't followed the case much.

The show also makes no mention of any of the inculpating evidence: the evidence they've discussed so far that incriminates the Wagners.

Here is what DeWine said back in the day

Family: Rhoden property had video cameras

"We reached out to people initially that we thought might have video," DeWine said during a media session in his Cincinnati office. "We were able to obtain some video."

That video reminded me. We often mention the small children who lost parents but seldom mention KR2. She lost her father whom she seemed to be very close to from interviews. So many people lost so much for what? Such a senseless crime...

Angela's discovery reference's OCIC enhanced DVR footage, so it's possible they have enhanced footage that could be strong evidence.

I think in the context of "DVR" it might be the role below. It could be from R security system.

"...reconstruction of damaged tapes, digital prints, analog and digital audio and video duplication, and format changes. OCIC may also lend assistance with criminal intelligence analysis and clerical support."

According to the Oxygen show, "all the security video" showed nothing. We have no way to verify whether their statement is accurate or truthful as there's still a gag order on these cases. The only information available comes from information leaked by suspects who are violating the gag order, so consider the source. The leaking suspects have already been caught spreading false information about the murders.

For now, I'm assuming all information they're leaking is false.

My comment was setting anything the Oxygen show stated to the side. I was not thinking of footage handed over in the early stages. I was thinking of footage recovered by LE.

I was simply pointing out enhanced DVR footage is part of discovery.

Sorry there's confusion, but I was also referring to any footage recovered by LE. I'm just noting that, without providing further details, we should be skeptical of any conclusions about video evidence shared by Oxygen since that information isn't available to the public. If they have actually viewed any video (whether retrieved from the R's own cameras or turned in by other folks/businesses in the area) they should have said so and provided some detail.

Instead they made a generalized statement "there's nothing on the video". What video? How much video is there? Whose video is it? Where was the video taken? Is it solid evidence? Were the Rhodens security cameras stolen by the killers? Lots of questions.:)

And I believe only LE would know what is or isn't on that footage.

There is a lot of confusion and sometimes statements may come off supportive or non supportive of a post or topic when that's not the intent. ;)
Edit- instead of supportive I should say agreeing or disagreeing

My guess would be any footage that could show something was likely removed and there was an attempt to destroy it. That's just my guess and my guess of why it may have been enhanced by OCIC. Heck it could have been in the burned VCR.

If anyone knows for sure TIA.
Was GWIV married just once? I'm trying to pinpoint if two of the women interviewed in the Oxy Net show were his son's aunt and grandma?

Ok, having followed and then stopped following this case, help me out. This was a string of murders over child custody, not drugs? Who was shot first, and were the shots not heard by anyone else in the adjacent homes? How were the perps caught/identified?
