Ok, I asked someone how a criminal could go about hacking someone's cell phone. The person I asked has worked in software security trying to prevent spying on communications. They said if someone knows where to go, they can download apps on the internet they can use to spy on someone. Download the app and use it to send an encrypted message/text to your target. Once they click on it, a program in the "background" will install itself on the victim's phone. The program allows the criminal to have access to all activities on the target's phone as long as the "bug" is installed. They can view texts, hear convos, etc.
It's not necessary for a criminal to have physical access to someone's cell phone or computer to install this hacking "bug". It can be done remotely via an email or other message sent with the "bug" hidden in the message.
This person said, yes, it would be possible for LE to find who planted a spying "bug" on a victim's phone, but it would take someone very skilled. It's the kind of thing BCI or even possibly FBI might contract to an expert.
I'm posting this as JMO, because I'm not planning to ask this person to become a verified member of WS. They just answered the question as a favor to me.
We all know this technology exists these days in our phones, computers, televisions, etc. Various social media sites have the ability to track us everywhere and even listen to private conversations. What's new is that, some level of the same tech capability is also available to anyone on the internet who knows how to find it.
I like your speculations and totally agree with them! Go Sheriff Reader!! Let's get this party started! Who knows, maybe these 8 victims would still be alive IF Junk and the attorneys there had not let the Wagners go scott free on serious past charges! JMO
I don't know. But we have Reader having an affair with an employee and a Deputy who was having sex with a former inmate all in the same department. Seems like there is a whole lot of sex going on in Pike county. LOLDoes anyone think that certain people are trying to cover up details of the recent allegations of sex trafficking?
(I don't mean Reader, but others)
Has anyone found a live feed yet for Jake
WKRC. Is streaming live. I did not know how to send a link.

It would mine if it were brought into the trial. Maybe not so much Junk who it seems has been less than stellar for years, but him giving a gun to a deputy who then killed a man with it would give me pause about his ethics. He (RJ) is not on trial for these 8 murders, so he would not in the least come into my decision. But I guarantee you, one whole terabyte of cold, hard murderous evidence against the 4 accused Wagners, definately would weigh hard on my decision. What about you??
But jurors also need to know that whoever collected that evidence did so in a lawful manner and will be truthful about the evidence and the manner it was collected on the witness stand.I feel this deserves a second answer. Any jury member who is not basing their vote on pure evidence needs to be dismissed immediately. For God's sake, the jury members should never concentrate on the prosecution or defense attorneys!
Thanks and its all very interesting and kind of scary these days.
My motto when I taught my Dad how to use a computer is to "Just say No" to everything. LOL
Whether its an email solicitation, or whether its a pop-up asking you to buy something, or whether its anything else,
"Just say No" and exit out of whatever damage you are about to do to your computer.
As far as phone tracking, one of the most interesting things I researched about in another case was how LE (FBI) has the capability to install malware on others phones to be able to track the location of people even when they turn off the phone. What the software does is it will make it look like you are turning off the phone and the phone screens go dark like normal but the phone really stays on which allows the GPS location information to be tracked on the phone 24 X 7.
They did need to get the malware installed onto the phone and like was already mentioned, that can be done with either physically obtaining the phone temporarily or by remotely sending the malware to the phone with the hopes the user will click on the payload (either an email attachment or a clickable email link that delivers the payload).
Its one thing if LE uses that sort of technology to stop terroristic threats but it is also scary to think about if others get ahold of the malware and begin using it for all sorts of other reasons.
If people remember the infamous worldwide malicious attack of the "Stuxnet" computer worm that affected computers across multiple countries.
When researching that, come to find out the original source of that form of very complex software allegedly came from governmental attempts to disrupt another countries radioactive centrifuges which were processing uranium.
So here we had a situation where noble attempts for world good ended up accidentally releasing its own attack software into the world domain and infecting computers across the globe because the software had managed to slip outside of its intended target zone.
And once its out in the public domain then surely it hits the dark web for sale to others. And once it gets sold then other criminals will modify the software for their own malicious use.
Scary stuff indeed.
"The reason for the discovery at this time is attributed to the virus accidentally spreading beyond its intended target (the Natanz plant) due to a programming error introduced in an update; this led to the worm spreading to an engineer's computer that had been connected to the centrifuges, and spreading further when the engineer returned home and connected his computer to the internet."
Below shows how once the antivirus software companies began researching Stuxnet how they were able to realize that one particular country was most likely the only intended target before the software escaped.
If the antivirus companies had not found it when they did then there is no telling how widespread the software would have traveled before the virus signatures were released to windows users to stop the spreading.
Country Share of infected computers
Iran 58.85%
Indonesia 18.22%
India 8.31%
Azerbaijan 2.57%
United States 1.56%
Pakistan 1.28%
Other countries 9.2%

I think Junk knows how hot tempered Reader is. I think he knew exactly how Reader would respond. He also knew Reader would post it on FB. Remember the very public letter to the reporter? I said then it was unethical and unprofessional for a sheriff to publicly post such a letter to a reporter on FB.Imo, re what's happening between Junk and the sheriff, I'm a little concerned. The way I'm seeing it is, if I were a smart man and wanted to screw up any case that would hang everyone I would do what these two fellows are doing, air it in the open, take a fall for the small stuff, and remove from credibility anything either I or the other fellow would have to say. I think these two are doing that admirably and I worry the effect on this case. Jmo
I agree. But while they may be able to "get rid of the Junk" in favor of another prosecutor from one of the other counties, Reader was lead in the investigation. No way to factor him out. With reader being investigated and also taking shots at junk saying “need to get rid of the junk in pike county” .. IMO both are a liability at this point.
I think Reader is a good guy but I also believe the charges against him as well (gambling, stealing money using cars for daughter) people have different sides
Finally found a live feed, not showing anything yet
WATCH LIVE: Wagner son who fathered daughter with slain-Rhoden teen back in court
Pike County Sheriff Charles Reader said Sophia was in the care of the Wagners at the time of the killings.
It would mine if it were brought into the trial. Maybe not so much Junk who it seems has been less than stellar for years, but him giving a gun to a deputy who then killed a man with it would give me pause about his ethics.
But a Sheriff's Deputy with a history of lying would absolutely taint my decision if she was heavily involved in the investigation of the crime. If she worked on the investigation how would I, as a juror, know if she was telling the truth on the stand about what she found out?
As for Reader, in view of all the casinos here, I do know about compulsive gambling. I meet a lot of employees of casinos in my profession. I have heard stories of women and men engaging in sex in the parking lot of casinos for 10 dollars just to walk back inside and play it in a machine. People who will snatch money out of the hands of other players in full view of security, steal tickets from machines, spend hours collecting as little as a 1 cent ticket in order to get enough to make 1 dollar to play in the machines, beg other players for money to play with and sell drugs in the bathrooms for money to play, and other things they would not otherwise do because they have a gambling problem. From what I understand if security sees this kind of behavior they permanently ban the person from ever entering the casino again, but I don't know about the policies of all casinos as each casino is governed by the policy of the tribe that owns it.
So with my knowledge of what compulsive gamblers will do to get money to play with, yes, I believe if Reader has a gambling problem, he would take confiscated drug money to play with. Would he also take bribes not to investigate someone? That would definitely be in my mind. But would jurors in Ohio know as much as I do about compulsive gambling? Would there be someone who is a compulsive gambler on the jury? Or someone who lives with one? IDK But IMO his behavior could be a factor.

I see Junk as a vary smart, very devious sleazeball of long standing. I see Reader as not so smart, maybe even bordering on the stupid range, who childishly airs his grievances and plays the victim who is being targeted by other elected officials in a very public arena. We saw this before with his letter/post to the reporter a while ago. I think it is a habit of Readers that when he loses his temper he closes his ears and opens his mouth without a thought for the consequences or how it looks on his position as sheriff.Wow. I haven't seen anything that points to Fred being all involved in area politics or being involved in the community in any power grabbing way. I'm not seeing it and there has been no mention of her doing anything charitable in the community other than on her property, no mention of her making large donations. Perhaps I missed something?
There is no way Junk would have charged Fred if he was riding around in her back pocket. In fact I think it's the opposite thing that is going on here....
it's the other way around.
Rather than Fred having clout with Pike County Officials, I see Pike County Officials throwing the book at her. I don't think they are "impressed" with her wealth at all and I don't think they "owe" her anything. I see Fred strongly fighting against them but the State of Ohio is fighting back equally hard against her.
I see prosecutors who DO NOT WANT TO LOSE the case against her. They want to get a conviction against her. The last thing they want to do is have HER WIN against them.
Fred winning an acquittal actually will make the prosecution look weak going into the other trials, there is no gain in this for the prosecution if Fred wins.
I do not believe Fred has anything she can "hold over" the prosecution or "hold over" any juror either, except to fight her case with an aggressive attorney, which she is doing.
If she tampers with the jury, to go in her favor, then she will get arrested for Jury Tampering, a felony in Ohio, and get the book thrown at her again. I doubt she would ever take that chance!
.....My 2 Cents Only.....
I agree but did Junk really need to say publically that the sheriff's office should give to him all the names of all LE working for Pike County that could be placed on the Brady List for dishonesty? Why would he do that publically? That alone could taint the jury pool and should have been privately done. I'm sure AC was not pleased with the go around Reader and Junk had on SM and written about in the press. IMO

If he did (we don't have any proof yet) carry on an affair with an employee and take confiscated drug money and let his daughter drive an impounded car, then he is unethical and a thief. If he is proved guilty of these things by the auditors office, then he is also a liar because he denied doing it. But that is a very big IF and we will all have to see how it shakes out once the auditors office releases the result of the investigation.
