This article is saying that GW4's hearing date was set for Sept 4, 2019. I recall them speaking in general terms about a date in Sept., but nothing specific. Ok

First trial date set for Wagners facing murder charges in Pike Co. massacre

Maybe it's just me, but I feel a bit uneasy about how cheerful (prosecuting attys, defense, accused, judge, etc.) everyone is about the hearings and getting the trial underway.

Also not confident, as I mentioned before, about picking so many jury candidates for 6 trials out of little Pike County.
JMO, if any of these perps walk or get light sentences, some careers will be over, including those not present in the courtroom, IYKWIM

Link for Jake's hearing. Turn down speakers, a lot of interference on audio

Jake Wagner to potentially have trial date set during court appearance

I know the name of an expert audio engineer I could send down for these hearings. I'll pay for his gas and get him to volunteer his time. He'll mike everyone in the hearing and will mix and record.

I would pay him to get copies, while he's there at the Pike County Courthouse, of all the Motions and Discovery Evidence in these 6 trials. Also, copies of the custody documents, especially the one naming Angie as a guardian.

Starting, usual preliminaries.

Defense: Will get another discovery "dump" sometime in the next few days. Will get drives for 4 terabytes of evidence, Canepa says they will tell them which different devices defense will need.

By the end of the week, had technical difficulties last time, needed tech people to visit and help last time.

Defense should let court know if there's a problem with it

Hearing date Sept 17, 2019 for motion hearing. Type motions will be typical of cases of this kind. May be additional motions, depending on discovery. Court will set those for other hearings. State and defense agree.

Court conduct ex parte hearing in camera for defense experts. Defense reviewed and don't have objections. Court will grant and sign and will have the hearing about experts today following this hearing.

Observes defendant is present in civilian clothes w/o restraints. No further business. Done.

Sounds like they're going to have another in camera hearing after this to discuss defense request for funding to hire "defense experts".

Sounds like they still plan to have GW3's trial in Pike County. I don't see how they can have all 6 of the trials in Pike County and still be able to recruit a qualified unbiased jury for each trial in a county with such a small population. JMO
Has there ever been a case where they pull jurors from neighboring counties?

Not sure, usually just have a change of venue, I think. ICBW

Interested to see how that all plays out. It’s a state case and it’s gonna be state funded correct? Pike county doesn’t have enough funds? Would think they could pull jurors from anywhere in the state. Or Mayb they plan to do both boys in Pike county and the parents elsewhere?

Edited for typos

If there are changes of venue, the jurors will come from the county in
which the trial is held.

Yes, the Ohio General Assembly already passed a law and allocated some funding to help cover the cost of the trials.

Gave them a down payment of $100,000

State leaders give Pike County $100K ‘down payment’ toward massacre prosecutions

Then they enacted some legislation to make funds available for DP cases

State may provide funding for the four Pike County death penalty cases

House passes bill to help pay for Pike County death-penalty cases

Looks like the Bill was passed in the House, but is still in a Ohio Senate Committee.

House Bill 85 - Status | The Ohio Legislature

IIRC, they rigged some sort of temporary special funding for this in the most recent state budget. Who knows what the state will do next?

I’m in awe that GW4’s lawyers didn’t file for a change of venue and are confident enough to have his trial in PC.

Could he be considering changing his plea to guilty and avoiding trial altogether? He seems to be a pretty wink link IMO

I don’t think so. Time will tell. I believe the prosecution has to offer a plea first and GW4’s lawyers don’t even have all of the discovery yet. There’s still two terabytes left to turn over on GW4. That’s A LOT.

We will agree to disagree then.

Don't let her soft motherly look fool you.

I think Angie was right along with the three men and firing just as many shots. She just doesn't strike me as the type woman who would trust the men to carry out her plan without making a mistake. She would have wanted to be there to make sure the men did not make any mistakes.

JMO

@RAISINISBACK, back to this conversation about Angie, I missed this post from you.

I think I do have a problem believing a woman could go in homes where mother's are laying with their babies, where a mother just had a baby, and shoot the mothers and leave the babies at risk in bloody beds.

My brain just cannot comprehend a mother and grandmother getting up close and personal to do that. So 50% of the reason I don't think Angie was there that night is because I just can't fathom a gardening, healthy meal planning, thrifty shopping, hands-on mom and grandmother (from her Facebook) being able to participate and/or watch that happen. It upsets my stomach thinking about it..:(

ABOUT ANGELA

"I love to cook, the kitchen is my favorite place to be except my garden. I like to be thrifty when I go shopping. Taking care of my family and giving them the very best at the lowest and thriftiest price available. My sons are my next favorite project. With them it is all about hunting. And of course fishing. So yea we are outdoor people. Now I have my grandchildren, they bring all the happiness I could imagine to my world..."

After seeing the evidence, there is no doubt in my mind AW pulled triggers. JMO

I agree with you that DR was grabbed and shot under the chin - the autopsy describes broken bones as if she was violently grabbed at the head/neck - jmo - I think the shooter(s) hauled her to show her to hear/see her son & daughter being killed.

I also think the many shots for DR and HHG indicate the killer's anger toward those two women because they helped HMR get independent from JW - jmo, moo.

A shot at that close of range and recoil of the body could also do that. I have seen a few come through ER with multiple fractures of head/neck after suicide attempts via under the chin shots. Sometimes the trajectory causes the shell to bounce on bones. Sorry, didn’t mean to seem so graphic but no other way to say it.
