I'm going to try to go to this ice cream social and see if the attorney general has any big announcements related to the murders. LoL

“I stopped in to say that we have bear around here so keep a gun handy, and they said all they have was a little shotgun,” said Conklin.

It's really sad that the Ws only possess one little shotgun when JW's Facebook page says he loves guns and hunting. Since the Ws only own one little shotgun, that poor young man JW had to share the lone little shotgun with his dad and brother when they all went hunting together. Really sad. :silenced:

If the Ws did this, why not just have HMR disappear, then quietly plan the trip, and move? Just like they have? No mother, no custody dispute. He'd have gotten her w/only one person murdered, just like he already has her w/eight people murdered. I think there's something more to this b/c murdering one person is a lot less risky than murdering eight. Basically w/the mother deceased the father has sole custody and can take the child wherever he pleases (as he's done). Grandparents have little to zip rights, unless it is special circumstances. So CR1 and DR couldn't do a thing. Whoever did this didn't take out LM who blurted out custody dispute on day one or two.

If only HR disappeared, the Rs would have been all over the Ws like white on rice. I didn't know the Rs personally, but after everything I've read, it would have been a really bad idea to infuriate all of the R family.

Mmmm..............maybe the guns that they used to own are somewhere else now.

Neither Billy Wagner nor Jake Wagner, both of whom Conklin talked with for about 90 minutes Monday, he said, said anything about the killings. Instead, they asked him about jobs in the area. None of the family, he said, had found employment yet.

It's unusual for people who have to work in order to eat to move all their belongings to a far away town and then try to find employment (which may not exist).

I agree. And if HR alone had been found murdered, JW would have likely been at the top of the list of persons of interest because of the alleged custody dispute. HR's death gave JW something he apparently wanted badly and that was custody of SW.

I can't help but wonder if we are going to run into a fugitive from justice scenario on this case and possibly soon if DeWine is able to secure the right tip.

[h=3]Fugitive from Justice legal definition of Fugitive from Justice[/h]legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Fugitive+from+Justice

Fugitive from Justice. An individual who, after having committed a criminal offense, leaves the jurisdiction of the court where such crime has taken place or hides within such jurisdiction to escape prosecution.

So.....if custody was the issue and HR was the main target why was CR Sr shot in his arms and legs?

To make it look like something other than a custody issue? Did they plan it to appear like a drug cartel hit? Maybe they thought incompetent LE would just assume it was a cartel and wouldn't even think about other possible motives.

And LE has started begging the public to find them.

Ohio authorities appealed for tips Monday about the former boyfriend of a young woman killed last year along with seven other members of her family.
"Specifically, information could include, but is not limited to, information regarding vehicles, firearms, and ammunition," Attorney General Mike DeWine and Pike County Sheriff Charles Reader said in a statement.

I wonder if JM bought the truck which had the tracking device, from the Ws?

Torture before he was lethally shot.

He may have been awake, not like the others who were shot in their beds, and they weren't so clever with a fighting moving target.

It's a lot easier (and EXTREMELY COWARDLY) to kill sleeping, unarmed targets.

Whoever did this may have taken out the entire family to try to make it look like something it wasn't i.e. drugs, revenge, etc. DeWine did say early on (paraphrasing) that whoever did this took steps to hinder the investigation. While we cannot be sure exactly what he meant by this, it could be that LE felt one family member was the target and the rest were killed to throw off the investigation while LE tried to sort out just who the target was.

With such intense focus on the W family, it appears to me that LE believes HR was the primary target.

I could see that if they'd only murdered everyone in DR's home, and even took out CR1's & GR in their trailer, b/c there's a grow there. It could have looked like a drug deal gone bad, or retribution for screwing over someone out of payment, but they wouldn't have had to take out FR, HHG, and KR. They could have made it look like an execution over drugs, or money like the Sykes murder (which was allegedly over a debt her "old man" had failed to pay).

They risked a whole heck of a lot by entering four homes, to murder eight people, and thinking they'd not leave a trace of anything behind at the scenes. They may not have murders like this everyday in Piketon, but they had little red evidence flags in the yards, so they weren't just wandering around out there watching the grass grow (no snark intended). I think there's something deeper, if it was the Ws, getting little S may have been a bonus, but I still believe it is going to be a Pandora's Box when we learn everything. I could be wrong, it's happened before, and I'm sure it'll happen again.

True, but they're still looking for folks, who have disappeared in these mountains, weeks, months, and years ago. No body, it's hard to make a case. Pack up and move. Whoever did this had an ax to grind with the other ones, is my main point. I don't think this was solely about custody, I think they had a whole lot of hate for these folks. AW said her hubby and CR1 were best of buddies and would do anything for each other. Whether they killed the Rs or not, I'm not buying what she's trying to sell on that one.

Can out of state folks attend? I could pencil that in and make a day of it. lol

I hope he announces arrest in this case and then tries to use this to get elected governor of Ohio.

ITA. I've read too much to buy the "best buddies" statement.
