The fire hose idea may have worked if the water was redirected upwards toward the top of the well and not downward. Water wells are sometimes cleaned out with air compressors that way. It draws water in from the bottom and lifts it out increasing water flow quite often. It will lift out sand, gravel, corrosion, etc. that was slowing the water flow....
Gotcha. It would have been more effective to spend the money to send a “grabber” down before blowing the entire bottom out.

Hindsight is 20/20 but the percentages would have been better for recovery. Now either evidence is lost or it’s going to take tens of thousands to recover it using ground water maps and maybe other wells to simply determine which direction it may have moved. The idea was good but poorly executed.

Well, they still might be able to try the perps if they go back and review the other evidence they have, re-interview witnesses, re-check alibis and look again for other evidence. Many cold cases have been solved that way.

Sheriff: 'Prime suspect' in Adams Co woman's murder at scene of Rhoden cousin shooting death

And an incident report lists the man, Johnny Kerns, 49, as the suspect in Violet Taylor's "suspicious death" June 11 in the area of Stewart Hollow and Lapperell Road in Pike County and an acquaintance of hers.

Taylor was found her dead of a gunshot wound to her chest, according to Reader. The 35-year-old Peebles resident was a cousin of the Rhodens, who were killed in a 2016 mass shooting.

With all these murders and the ongoing drug problems, Pike County is having financial difficulties. Not surprising. I feel sympathy for the Sheriff and county supervisors, they've had a lot on their plate.

Amid budget woes, Pike County Sheriff begins cost-cutting measures

Pike and other small counties with big drug and crime problems really need more help from the state and federal level.

In case the Sheriff happens to read this, here are some links for him:

They sure have unusual ways of describing things down there. He is a suspect in a death that has not been determined if it was a suicide or homicide....He can't be a suspect in a suicide so how can he be a suspect at all if the cause of death could be suicide???

It's confusing. He's a suspect in the death of Bernice Hayslip, an elderly woman who disappeared late last year after her daughter removed her from a nursing home. Part of her charred remains were found on property owned by Kerns. Then, Kerns happened to be at the scene when Violet Rhoden Taylor died from a gunshot wound to the chest. The "witness" Kerns told everyone she committed suicide, but fortunately, PCSO is investigating it as suspicious.

The only thing I can think is if BCI Is trying to figure out if JK perhaps made Violet kill herself. IOW, he killed her or is the reason she is dead but made it appear that she did it herself. I don’t know what else would make sense because I can’t imagine determining if her death was suicide would take this long. My head honestly hurts from trying to understand what is going on

The gruesome slayings have rattled this southeast corner of Appalachian Ohio, a region that culturally identifies more closely with neighboring Kentucky and West Virginia than the state’s northern cities.

[...]

Adding to the shock was the discovery of hundreds of illegal marijuana plants on Rhoden’s property, highlighting the region’s dependency on the illegal drug trade as jobs in agriculture and timber have dried up.

Minors: You may discuss what is covered in the main stream media regarding the custody of minor children. If posting snips from articles regarding the children please redact their names. These babes are innocents. One day they will google their names or those of their parents. And plenty will come up. Let's be respectful of them and the catastrophic loss they have suffered at such tender ages. Thanks.

Investigators search Adams Co. farm for Pike Co. massacre evidence

ADAMS COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - Law enforcement officers are searching a farm in Adams County for evidence in the Pike County massacre. That farm is off of SR 32 near Peebles.

The case of the Pike County murders became more complex this week with investigators asking the public to focus attention on one family

DeWine hasn’t named suspects in the case. He has, however, asked the public to focus attention on four members of the Wagner family.

Investigators want more information about Edward “Jake” Wagner, 24, George Wagner IV, 25, George “Billy” Wagner III, 46, and Angela Wagner, 45. All are uncharged.

Incident report in Rhoden cousin's 'suspicious death' names suspect who also is 'prime suspect' in elderly woman's homicide

I also like how it is asserted that Violet's death is not related to the 8 prior murders. How could they say that confidently unless they know the perp(s) and/or motive for both crimes? o_O

He could even be saying; I was was trying to stop her, when it went off.

Perhaps, but in a rural area, that age difference may not be something to get locals excited. Pike County doesn't have a really strong record of prosecuting those kinds of cases. They're busy enough with drugs and violence and murder. I could be wrong, though, but it doesn't seem like a threat that would make the W family massacre the Rhodens.

If the Ws took HR to Florida when she was 14 and she had sex with JW there, would that not be taking a minor across state lines for immoral people unposed and be a federal offence?

Or maybe they know for sure who it is not....

He could have still been charged with statutory rape since she was under 16 years of age.

States’ statutory rape offenses detail the age at which an individual can legally consent to sexual activity. This section focuses on laws addressing sexual intercourse. Table 1 summarizes, where applicable, each state’s:

  • Age of consent. This is the age at which an individual can legally consent to sexual intercourse under any circumstances;
  • Minimum age of victim. This is the age below which an individual cannot consent to sexual intercourse under any circumstances;
  • Age differential. If the victim is above the minimum age and below the age of consent, the age differential is the maximum difference in age between the victim and the defendant where an individual can legally consent to sexual intercourse; and
  • Minimum age of defendant in order to prosecute. This is the age below which an individual cannot be prosecuted for engaging in sexual activities with minors. The table notes those states in which this law only applies when the victim is above a certain age.
Florida's age of consent is 18. Minimum age that a victim can consent is 16.

So had he been caught with her in Florida, he would have been doing a few years in prison.

Even in Ohio it was illegal.

Statutory Rape Laws by State

Ohio
§ 2907. 04

Sexual assault for a person age 18 to engage in sexual conduct with a minor if the actor knows that the minor is between ages 13 and 16

1) Six to 18 months in prison, (2) if the actor is less that four years older than the victim, a $ 1,000 fine, or (3) if the actor is 10 or more years older than the victim, one to five years in prison.

You know that actually brings me to a thought. Since HR was only 19 that means the first instance of a crime committed was five years earlier when she was 14, so that basically means that the statue of limitations ( 7 years) on first degree rape had not run out when the murders occurred.

Could CR1 or DR have threatened to have JW charged with first degree rape when the W's tried to get HR to sign over her rights?

Sending JW to jail for a few years could have been a powerful motive to get rid of the R's.

Yeah, they made that statement within a day or two of her death. No way they could know for certain so early in the investigation. JMO it was PR damage control to prevent stories about the Rhoden/ Gilley murders from getting wide news media coverage again.

She got pregnant with S about five weeks before she turned 16 (if my cipherin' is correct) that's the only proof they have that there was any sexual relations prior. There were pics of them laying in his bed together well before that, and there were open FB posts about her going on vacation with him, and his family, as far back as 2011. Everyone who knows about a minor, in a statutory rape situation is accountable to turn it in, parents included. So... I guess her parents could have been charged for not reporting the romance same as his, and him. It's four years difference in a county filled with her kin and living in the middle of BFE. One is lucky to find someone that isn't related to them. There was 13 years between my first spouse, there was 18 years between one set of my grandparents. Call it what you will, but I personally don't see it as criminal. Loose dating restrictions on her parents part? Yes. Ignorance on his part? Yes
