Families can be influenced by their environment so I waver between wanting their family heritage or hiding a more sinister thoughts of hiding family incest or something like that. Maybe Hanna had something really bad against JW or the W's that would keep custody of their little one. jmo
I've heard the incest rumor. If it's true it's possible that we'll hear it from the trials.
I had thought that the Wagner family might have known something about a gun used but didn't expect they were the killers. Reason for that being the fact that they let those babies stay with them during the investigation. Why in the heck did they do that?!

I think JW did go and put up the crib. I think he did it so he could memorize the layout and where the victims slept. They hadn't lived there long and that may have been his only opportunity to check out the inside of Dana's home. When dropping off of picking up S, she may have been exchanged outside or at the door. JW had an ulterior motive. He didn't do it out of kindness.

not sure how much we can say? It has always been rumored that a huge amount of cash was taken. And honestly imo it makes sense.

Also said that a necklace and a special blanket were found in a womans possession. This woman has posted non stop on her FB page about being framed for the Rhoden Murders etc. I have to say some of what she has said she has backed up with showing paperwork from Pike County LE. Its the strangest thing I have ever seen. Oddly she has now gone radio silent but only since the arrests.

If the part of the indictment about custody and HR had info on the W's to keep custody from the W's is true and pretty condemning if true, then they took their heritage and hopefully not habits to AK. I hope this theory can be dispelled asap and it's just a family who is full of entitlement.

After tens of thousands of hours of investigative work over 2½ years, the final clue in the investigation of the murder of eight people in Pike County came a week ago, according to law enforcement officials.

That’s when authorities confirmed the existence of a homemade silencer they say was built by the suspects

Silencer was last piece of evidence in Pike County case

wow, playing catchup here

wow, finally, arrests. I really had my doubts that this would ever be prosecuted.

Officials would not provide details on a possible motive for the killings but allege that a custody battle played a part. All of the Wagners were also charged with forgery of a custody document and tampering with evidence, according to the indictment.

Ohio family charged with the execution-style murder of 8 people at pot farm

I’m wondering why the 4 were not charged with endangering the life of a child during the commission of a violent crime. At a minimum each who fired shots into the 8 victims did that and more.
I imagine the charges may be added later.

I also think every law enforcement officer slept much better last night. I am looking forward to the pretrial motions and seeing the evidence LE collect, where andcwhen. I wonder if they have the guns.

They obviously have the computer searches etc. interesting conclusion to backwoods hillbilly justice.

The fact that he did not bring it up during his time running for Governor also impressed me.

I heard he was told to not do that because it would look bad for him doing that...

As FW said, the Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away, and I guess He tooketh away their freedom yesterday. I understand you have distaste for churchgoers... but I think religion and the 2A are in the TOS about this case.

Sorry, but I don't have a problem with religion, per se. It's the way some religious people are hypocritical in their beliefs and use it as justification to harm others. It's something that happens sometimes in relation to criminal cases.

As one whose family lived, survived and thrived in Alaska for 35 years, we had the best training in the world. Farming and hard work as kids.

We had mentors and a strong network of friends who taught us how to survive. We raised two kids that have the same.

You don’t find success up there in 12 months, it takes 3-4 years. But once you’ve done it the sky is the limit. We were determined to succeed after the Michigan economy went south in 1980.

So if the Wagner’s would have been smart they would have gone to Canada where they refuse to extradite when criminals are facing a potential death penalty. Giving up on Alaska tells me they are lazy. Not going into Canada tells me they were just plain DUMb

Agree! Dumb, lazy, narcissistic, and dangerous. No matter who first voiced the idea, for the other three not to squash it, speaks volumes of their hate toward the R family & HHG. Such a deep level of clan mentality that not one of them backed out. There are a lot of clannish families, the Rs and Ms could be called clannish. It's a way of life when you live in isolated regions, because of depending on one another, but very few ever reach this level.

RSD1200, here's a link to a good article in the Chilli Gazette with discusses the structure needed for the trial defense and public defenders if they use them.

Prosecution of Wagners in Rhoden murders to take 'years,' cost thousands

Thanks Betty! I was one of the tipsters, but it was on the call line. One of the kids have told everyone, My Momma called in about those folks!! Not that I'll be called... It's going to be a heck of a cost for this trial. Too bad they won't just plea out and be done with it. Junk said he was going to ask for zero bond.

Gotcha. I don't see the Ws as what I'd call "Christian" people. I think they are like a lot of folks, they hide behind that curtain, to appear to be something they are not. Like some folks hide in plain sight being little league coaches, or athlete doctors for child athletes, to look like they are something they are not.

He already had S, and G4 already had B. The time that I believe, that they thought the kids might be in danger, would have been during the arrests, or if they tried to run. If they took them to court to remove the children, there would have to be a "Why?". They'd have to tip their hand and the Ws would be gone and would likely flee with the child, and who knows what would have happened. Murder/Suicide? It was a very delicate situation, imo.

KENTUCKYMAMA (bbm above) Thanks for refreshing my thoughts about the crib... I keep getting the feeling he was there to plant some sort of surveillance or listening device in the room, Nannycam? And/or looking for weapons and points of egress.
I woke up this morning, still confounded by the unconscionable savagery of the W's. OMG, it just makes no sense at all.... it was like reading about a tribal raid 700 years ago! Then read this statement:
"The Wagner family of four was arrested and charged Tuesday in the killing of eight members of the Rhoden family. Their lawyer says they will be vindicated." ....EXASPERATING!

Unless it had occurred prior to the election the arrests would have been a two edged sword. As much negative as positive. This was handled with discretion respect for victims and politically to everyone’s benefit.

There may have been a decision by prosecutors to leave the other surviving children out of the case, just to shield them and their caregivers from media scrutiny, since charges like that would involve naming them. Altho SW will have to come in to it, it really had nothing to do with the others.

Can someone fill me in, how did G4 (but really "they") get custody of BW?
Also, I didn't realize there was an investigative GJ, but if FW is charged with lying to them then surely the W's knew, is that why they returned from Alaska?
If this was so meticulously planned, I have to wonder how "lucky" they got along the way too, clearly they had to wait for HR to deliver so their plan of knowing schedules and habits wasn't thwarted by an untimely labor, but a brand new baby's sleep schedule is hardly consistent so there was still a risk involved in people being awake and this not going down as perfectly as it seems to have (with the exception of the potential of JW supposed to be the one to find them when he brought S back).

Wow rsd1200! Good on you! I'm so proud of you!

I really do think social media and online activists played a big role in keeping the pressure on and pointing LE in the right direction. I think Dudly and others did some "outreach", too. LE may not have been happy with everyone's efforts, but it was heartening to read about people questioning investigators at town hall meetings, etc.

Everyone who contributed here did a massive amount of very good research and analysis, compiling files and re-checking facts. It's been very impressive and I'm glad to have watched it all unfold.

With as much surveillance mentioned in the indictments, he very well could have set up the Rhodens computer to spy on the victims. And it’s quick and easy to learn the layout of a trailer as most floorplans are similar.

This whole case is twisted, sick, full of entitlement and most evil. DeWine was correct when he said BIZARRE. And I hope that every LE personnel has been offered and has accepted mental health counseling to cope with every component of this case. There’s still much to be revealed at trial and I simply can’t imagine the carnage.

Any clue on why the autopsy reports were redacted to such an extent? I thought it might be due to drug use but it doesn’t sound like that is the case.

My heart goes out to the R, M, and G families. Their loved ones reputations were tarnished during the past two years. It’s such a shame that GRs father died a few short months ago and didn’t get to see the arrest.

Very good questions and you make a good point about the Wagners and GJ and timing of their return from AK.

Common Pleas Judge Rosenberger presided over the custody case, IIRC. Because it involved minor children, the details are not available to the public. HR was deceased and JW was the proven bio father, so at that time he may not have had enough evidence to deny custody. The charges for falsifying the custody papers may have something to do with that.

DeWine said the GJ was convened this past July. Either the W's came back to testify or the GJ was convened because they returned, not sure. Does anyone remember when the rumors began circulating that the W's had returned to the are? I know there was a record of AW updating her voter registration at that time and a LOT of rumors flying around online.

Agree, W's did get lucky. JMO, the more we learn about these horrible murders, the more we'll realize how imperfect their plan and execution were. I have a feeling they made quite a few mistakes and left more important evidence behind. They took huge risks with these murders and I'm amazed they weren't foiled by some of the victims being up and around, able to grab a gun or call 911.
