Well I for one am still very curious what the GPS on JM truck was all about.

I hope we find out. JMO, the Wagners were trying to frame JW. LE may have been trying to find out what he knew.

Just saw the news from six hours ago and it’s the best thing I’ve heard in a long time. Thanks to all of you who have hung in here with this case!
Adding Congratulations to Websleuths who really hung in there on this case! And you were apparently correct about the Wagners and the custody dispute motive - I read your theories on that here at WS a long time ago. I came to believe this must have been a drug cartel execution that would go unsolved which is perhaps what they planned to make it look like. Unbelievable case. Good job, LE!

Wow. I have never heard of "brass catchers".
They obviously planned this out and were trying to make sure they didnt leave any bullet casings from the shells after firing them.

The bullet projectile itself would still be in the victims which can identify the caliber of a weapon and it can sometimes even be forensically traced back to a particular weapon if LE has a weapon to test fire bullets from so not sure how much help a brass catcher would give them.
Brass can leave fingerprint, and more often, DNA evidence.

Lots of cash money in expensive pets, and you know how hard it is to keep track of where cash goes.

And driving around the country with those big horse trailers. Wonder what they were hauling?

Recall a news media interview with Gary Rhoden's father at his funeral. He said LE had found two different types of bullet casings at the CR1 & GR crime scene, so apparently they missed some of them. The video was missing from the internet the last time I looked. Hope we find it again.

@MassGuy I can't figure out how to quote from another thread, but boy do I feel stupid! How could I not know Ann Rule is dead??
Haaaa. She was my favorite true crime author, and your point was well taken. She could have written a tremendous book on this case.

She had a sad end unfortunately.

When I found out DeWine was running for Governor (Ohioan, here), I was pretty confident this would be miraculously resolved just before the election. The fact that the last piece of evidence they received was at the end of October and they did NOT come out to try to goose the election actually makes me respect DeWine far more than I would have. It also makes me feel confident that they've done their due diligence and have the correct perpetrators.

Very good point. You answered my question. It is almost impossible not to leave a partial fingerprint on a brass casing when you load the clip or magazine in a semi-auto.

That’s an excellent point. If he was only concerned with his political aspirations, the arrest would have been a boon to his gubernatorial campaign.

I don’t know much about him, but I certainly respect him for that.

I would also like to know if that alleged text that morning between JM and Jake really happened......

Yeah. This came up in a different case, and I researched the DNA viability from brass.

Forensic science has made tremendous strides in this area.

I’m sure we’ll find out, in a couple years...

There was allegedly a text between JM and JW just an hour or two before the murders. Whether true or no, I think it would make sense they would put him, and probably many others, like DS, BJM, etc, under surveillance. The difference in his case, perhaps, is that he made a public stink about it.

I'm shocked at despite how carefully they planned this and for so long, throughout all that time none of them were sane enough to say "wait a minute, what the hell are we doing?"

I noticed the indictments stated that automatic weapons were used in the murders. How did LE get that info? Did they find the weapons?

Sort of. Fingerprints are created from the oils on fingertips, and touch DNA is sweat. Both oil and water vapor burn off the spent casings due to high heat during firing and finding anything has been hit-and-miss. However, there are new processes developed in the last couple of years that have recovered both fingerprints and DNA from spent casings. The fingerprint process us complex science based on electron analysis of fingerprint mineral deposits that remain after oils burn off, and the DNA is shed skin cells found in the grooves of the manufacturer's stamp.

Yeah, Len Manley got very upset at that. I think the Manley family felt betrayed by LE planting the GPS device. They were traumatized and grieving at the loss of their family members while LE was constantly accusing them of the murders. They did everything they could to assist LE in the investigation, including providing DNA samples, but LE kept trying to make them look guilty. I don't blame them for being angry and speaking out. My God, the harassment and false accusations they endured, including BJM.

I hope they are finding some peace after these arrests and I hope people give them the privacy and respect they deserve. Same goes for the other surviving family members. What a nightmare these innocent people have been living.
