Well they were all active on those pages, I even saw Chris Jr posting some things.

They sold small things and it seems like they sold several cars.

I find it interesting the cousin said it was 1000 dollars, who would count money laying on your dead relative you just found...and as tight lipped as the police are being and possible suspicion of family, I doubt they told him the amount

I have to say I read the DM article and I do not see Donald saying that but I see it in the headline.

Feuds can happen at these Derbies too, it happens here at the banger racing, families fall out, drivers gang up on one driver to get him knocked out quickly, drivers hitting other drivers in the drivers door ( a big nono), i would expect the same happens at these derbies.
Well that Derby car rumor deal.. Seems a $3000 Derby car is an expensive one. I didn't think much about it being worth $3000 but seems that is a lot for that kind of car.

Maybe he's saying $1000.00 because that's what was said to him by LE?

It is such a small town. If there were hired killers from out of town, wouldn't they have been seen in the area and noticed?

This is why I have brought up the festival that was in town that weekend several times, but nobody seems to want to connect it.

IMO hired killers from out of town could easily have slipped into town especially that weekend because of the Dogwood Festival.

Interesting.

The Gannett papers (Chillicothe Gazette & Cincinnati Enquirer) are calling foul on the lack of release of some specific information.

Nearly a week into a massive, eight-victim homicide investigation in Pike County, law enforcement has yet to release incident reports, dispatch calls and other records that could be key to understanding what happen to the Rhoden family. Two calls to 911 were released Saturday.

"If the incident report has been written, there’s no reason why that hasn’t been released," said Dennis Hetzel, executive director of the Ohio Newspaper Association. Enquirer attorney Jack Greiner, who specializes in First Amendment law, agreed that state law is clear: incident reports aren't investigatory records and must be released.

The Ohio Supreme Court ruled in a 2001 case that "our prior decisions have unequivocally held that incident reports are public records and must be disclosed immediately upon request."

Well I still think the sheriff did a spin on knowledge of the family legally.

The DA refused to comment on the grow operations then later did after the presser was over.

The DA said he wouldn't tell if there was forced entry and later we find our forced entry into two places.

The entire first description of the killings like it was some sophisticated scene, quickly in and out, basically single shot to most that were sleeping, he really made it seem like a fast professional hit with a crime scene with really no evidence.

Not like that at all.

I don't agree on the Sheriff, but I see where you're coming from. I think he wasn't expecting that question and his answer wasn't nuanced enough for the question.

I think the AG refused to comment and then remembered or realized that the person who confirmed it to the media was a district attorney (or an assistant, I don't remember).

I don't remember who confirmed the forced entry but I'm sure he was irritated that leak came out.

His first description was based completely on a briefing of the crime scenes. He may have thought that's what it was, and his description may still be accurate. I don't think he ever said "single shot to the head". I think he said they were shot in the head and most victims sleeping. That may still be the case. There may be a lot of evidence, but he talked about the killer(s) trying to hamper LE efforts to find them. There could be a lot of details to suggest that and we haven't heard any of it.

It may all have started over a car?, i dont see it but fallout's have started over less.

At this time It should be evident the reason why that family have been killed. I'm not saying who committed the crimes, but the reason for the crimes. If they not find out it in a few days , I am afraid this will extend for months or years.

There is a nearly forgotten an underrated crime, a 2010 triple crime in Clark county, Kentucky. Just a suggestion.

Hired killers would have probably shot the dogs. Dogs wouldn't know them. JMO

Question for those of you who said you live in rural communities where women sell a lot of things on FB -- WHY? Are they just trying to make a little extra cash? Or are they trying to make it look like they have a legitimate source of income to cover for a illicit source of income? Is it a cover for drug dealing? Prostitution? Or are they really just trying to get $20 here and there?

Did you see the photos of the car? I seriously LOL'ed. No way that thing was worth $3000. It wasn't worth $30!

Just putting my thoughts down.

Kenneth Rhoden
Lived about 8 miles approx 10 mins from the others. He lived in a camper. He had a pit bull. Donald Stone (son of Kenneth's sister) said there was money spread around (although AG said on the radio show he didn't think so)

1. Looks like rather small camper so doubt he was growing elaborate pot in it, maybe outdoors.
2. Pit bull still there (sounds like pit bulls at Danas might not have been there) stone said he had to calm dog down before le could go in.
3 if money spread around doesn't look like robbery to me.
4. Shot 1 time in head
5. DS was supposed to be there the night before but wasn't
6. DS was to go help KR the next day but didn't
7. DS called 911 around 1:30 pm to report murder
Seemed calm compared to BM
8. ?

So dog at KR, money, shot 1 time

What am I missing?

Sounds so different from other scenes. More shots, haven't heard of money, dogs maybe missing.

Common: taking what DS said about KR dog, dogs at other location/ location would have reacted the same if a stranger/strangers entered.

Just scraping for money, I think, and it's sort of a hobby, lol, like us spending hours speculating about them!!! Ha ha

CINCINNATI - A shooting involving multiple fatalities was reported in rural Ohio on Friday morning, but details on the number of deaths and the whereabouts of the suspect or suspects weren't immediately clear.

The attorney general's office said a dozen Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents had been called to Pike County, an economically struggling area in the Appalachian region some 80 miles east of Cincinnati. Spokesman Dan Tierney says the Pike County sheriff's office requested state help at 8:20 a.m.

Tierney had no information on whether a suspect was in custody. He also had no confirmation on the number of fatalities...

PIKE COUNTY, OH (WCMH/WDTN) — The Pike County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that there were seven adults and one 16-year-old juvenile who were killed execution-style Friday late morning. They were all members of the same family. Death notifications were still being made Friday night.

Three children survived; a 4-day-old, 6-month-old and 3-year-old. The newborn’s mother is among those victims shot. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said it does not appear any of the victims committed suicide.

During a news conference on Friday evening, Attorney General Mike DeWine said authorities have interviewed more than 30 people and will talk to more of them as the investigation continues.

'We will continue until the case is solved. We do not know whether we're talking about one individual or two or three or more,' DeWine added.
No person of interest has been apprehended and investigators are looking at different theories.

They believe the killers targeted the family specifically, and DeWine said there was no indication of a threat towards the rest of the community.

The rest of the family has been in touch with the sheriff's office for their protection.

Investigators found three marijuana “grow operations” at residences where eight family members were slain in southern Ohio, state Attorney General Mike DeWine said Sunday at a news conference.

He didn’t say whether the marijuana was connected to the execution-style killings discovered last Friday at four residences in Piketon.

PRESSER: APRIL 24, 2016

MOD NOTE: Tricia has given permission for sleuths to discuss the criminal records of the family members who were murdered. In light of the grow operations they may be very relevant. Please refrain from posting criminal histories of other individuals who have not been named persons of interest or suspects by LE or simply because they have the last name of the victims or may be a distant cousin or aunt. Stick with the victims for now. That may change as more develops on this case.

MOD NOTE: Please don't speculate about the current custody of the minor children who were left alive. It is a blessing they are alive. If posting snips from articles regarding the children please redact their names. These babes are innocents. one day they will google their names. And plenty will come up. Thanks.

MOD NOTE: Do not sleuth every Tom, Dick and Harry who was ever associated with a victim. Unless law enforcement names someone a person of interest or suspect, TOS prohibits it.

CASE NOTES (courtesy of cujenn81) this link contains locations, distance, victim info, relationships and more.

This makes me feel so special :) I also took notes on today's presser (what little new info was mentioned)... but I'm leaving work now so I'll have to post them when I get home!

  • #56
anybody know if Christopher Jr was alone in the home when he was shot? and whose home was it

  • #57
With the DA there, it sounds like they're building their case. They have their sights on a person/persons and don't want to screw it up hence the wonky pressers.... I think an arrest isn't too far off.

  • #58
IMHO, these murders were a message to LE in Pike County. Oh the tangled webs we weave when we practice to deceive.

Really, I'm intrigued. What takes you in that direction?

  • #59
I would characterize any mass murder unsolved after 5 days as having some level of sophistication. Just because it does not follow a Mossad script obviously means very little.

The article in the Chillicothe Gazette yesterday mentioned the previous sheriff left to go work as a security person at a local plant that closed down. IMO, that said something.

Someone also mentioned the police finding the abandoned grow operation run by a Mexican cartel in 2012 could indicate someone tipped them off in advance about a raid. It wouldn't be the first time.

In May 2015 Sheriff Henderson left after 7 years of being sheriff. before his term was up. Reader was assistant to the Prosecuting Attorney Rob Junk prepared cases for the grand jury. He had worked as deputy before. He became interim and was reelected.

In March 2015 Sheriff Henderson's brother, and another deputy Joel Jenkins were chasing a 26 yo Robert Rooker for driving 52 in a 45 mile zone. Other officers got involved, the officers said Rooker rammed the police vehicles, witnesses said he did not. Jenkins did a pit maneuver and Rooker's truck got stuck, according to witnesses. Jenkins opened fire into the windshield killing him. Rooker had no weapon.

The video on Chris Rhoden Jr's fb page by witnesses said officers were picking up gun shells.

Through the year there were no charges, then later that year in Dec 2015 Jenkins shot his neighbor in the head with one of the guns Junk had let him borrow. Jenkins had said it was an accident, but then finally was indicted for killing both Brady and Rooker.

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2015/12/21/Pike-County-deputy-shooting-rehired.html

Pike County prosecutor Rob Junk had previously told reporters that the shooting of Rooker appeared to have been justified.

Junk later said that he had allowed Jenkins to borrow guns from him and that it was possible one of the weapons had fired the shot that killed Brady. “Probably three or four months ago I did lend him two. He had been cleared for duty,” Junk said, according to the Chillicothe Gazette.

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2015/12/21/Pike-County-deputy-shooting-rehired.html

Pike County Prosecutor Rob Junk — who turned the case over to the Ohio attorney general’s office — said the gun used in the shooting might have been one he had loaned to Jenkins.

Jenkins is charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide and tampering with evidence in connection with Brady’s death. The other two deputies involved were not charged. Jenkins pleaded not guilty to all the charges on Dec. 14. Records show he has posted the amount required of his $200,000 bond and is out of jail.
