Found Deceased OH - Prof. Thomas Short Jr., 55, Orange Village, 18 Nov 2018

plus its the holidays. Who's to say he would have been able to extend, they could have been booked. IMO

Were his wallet and/or car keys found among the “personal effects” in his car?

With respect to the theory that his disappearance might have been intentional and perhaps related to a depressed mental state (per his son's comments quoted upthread), it's worth noting that the last post on Tom Short's publicly-available Facebook account mentions the recent death of one of his friends/professional acquaintances. That post is from November 17, 2017, almost exactly a year before his recent disappearance. Anniversaries of losses are often terribly painful, so that pain coupled with other current issues (a pending divorce, per a quote from one of Tom's friends in one of the MSM articles linked upthread) might have influenced his actions.

Also interesting to note the student comments on Professor Short (at WCU) from RateMyProfessors.com. I am also a professor, so I know that these "reviews" are best taken with MANY grains of salt, but there are some concerning consistencies in all the student comments about his apparent dissatisfaction with many of his students). The most recent comment on the page for Prof. Short at John Carroll University is intriguing as well.

I also find it highly unusual that he taught at four different institutions since 1991 (Villanova '91-'02, IUP '02-'08, John Carroll University '08-'16, WCU '16-'18)--most folks who score a tenure-track position (which it seems he had; he is listed as an Associate Professor at WCU) don't change institutions that frequently if at all. Would be interesting to know if there were professional issues weighing heavy on his mind.

Definitely a trend in those reviews- sort of a stickler for details. I had a chemistry professor like that. Makes it all the more strange though that he left for dinner 5 days early and 4 days before his actual hotel reservation. I am glad to hear the family has hired a PI. It should be possible for them to track his movements if he drove all the way from Philly to Beachwood. There would be at least 1 gas station stop (credit card) and cameras possibly at the grocery store, toll booths, hotel lot. Perhaps they can tell where he went from his car, general direction for example. I understand the most probable outcome for a middle aged white male with some definable "personal issues" but too many weird outliers here; its worth dotting the I's and crossing the T's.

Oh jeez. Way at the bottom of the article that mentions the timeframe, a colleague noted that he wasn't looking forward to this Thanksgiving because of the prospect of telling his family about his pending divorce.

Thinking about Professor Short today. :( I really wish we had more news.

If you view the edit history for that FB page posting, you can see it was edited 6 hours ago to say he was found deceased. But is there any MSM to support that?
Still looking. Perhaps the PI the family hired is the person who discovered this. Local news (Philly) is not covering/has not covered this story much.

I don't see anything on his sister's Facebook. Not inclined to believe one post from a Facebook group dated back on 11/26 over MSM confirmed reports.

Possibly wishful thinking, but I can find nothing to confirm that Prof. Short is deceased.

I don't want to link to the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, but as of 3 days ago, Amy still indicated that they were moving forward with the private investigation. As of 2 days ago, she confirmed that the investigator has started his work.
