Found Deceased OH - Rabin Subedi, travelling from PA to OH, car found, Ashtabula, 27 March 2021

These types of cases are always so crazy to me. Makes plans with someone then disappears. Was he depressed? MOO

I hope there is a different outcome than what I fear happened.

Did he ever make it to Ohio?

Did he ever make it to Ohio?

The article (Millcreek Police Review Security Camera Footage, Vehicle GPS System in Search for Missing Man) didn't directly answer that question. They say the family gave permission to check the car's GPS.

It sounds like there are two possiblities: either he wandered around Erie the whole time, or he made it as far as Ashtabula and then turned back. If he left the salon at 6:45pm but the car didn't park until 10pm, it sounds more like he turned around and came back.

So this says cctv caught not only the driver of the vehicle walking toward the water, but into the water! Is that new news???
News to me. I only read "towards the water"

If they have footage of him or someone walking towards the water and possibly into it, if that person didn't actually go in the water wouldn't there be footage of this person walking away from the water as well? IMO

Another small update. They are going to resume searching tomorrow when the weather is better. Update: Search for Missing Millcreek Man to Resume Tuesday

From the article - I am not sure why the article put quotation marks around the word "off." It just makes it seem cryptic. I'm assuming they are referring the fact that the phone was not found and can't be pinged, but it could have just said so:
After learning he was missing Saturday, police pinged his cellphone. That led them to search in the area of Lampe Marina. Erie police assisted, finding his car, but no sign of Subedi or his cell phone which is now "off."

Wow. So heartbreaking.

So many cases like this lately! I wonder if it’s because people are leery of using a rest stop? Those tend to be small, crowded, and poorly ventilated spaces. We drove hours on
PA Turnpike recently and saw several people walking away from parked cars into woods/fields. I imagine you’d want to get far away from the road for both safety and modesty - that may put you on unfamiliar terrain, especially outside daylight. JMO.

Missing persons: Search ongoing for Erie-area man last seen on Friday

March 29
According to the link:
•he left sometime late Friday afternoon
•made a stop in Eerie for a haircut
•9:40 p.m. on Friday, Subedi's car arrived at Lampe Marina off Port Access Road in Erie, and it eventually parked at the marina.
•car was found unoccupied and was recovered at about 11:40 p.m. Friday

I have issues with the turn around. His haircut was done at 6:45pm he makes it to the traffic accident delay in OH and then for some reason turned around. Any chance the mapping areas could be set to throw someone off? I don't understand the whole turn around and end up at boat docks. IMO

Devastating! So sad. If true it's a shame he felt so much pressure to take it this far. Praying for all of you.

Update: Search for Missing Millcreek Man to Resume Tuesday

Nandu Subedi, Rabin's uncle spoke for the family after the meeting with Millcreek police. "We gave our consent to them to take out the GPS from the car and they are going to take it out...to find out where exactly he traveled." Subedi said.

Question:
Once they have the GPS, how long does it take to get and review this information?

Update: Search for Missing Millcreek Man to Resume Tuesday

Millcreek police confirmed that security camera video from the Lampe area shows a man exiting the car, and entering the water, but say the images are not clear enough to make a positive identification.

Millcreek Police Review Security Camera Footage, Vehicle GPS System in Search for Missing Man

Footage shows someone exiting the car and heading toward - and ultimately into - the water. However, the video footage is not clear enough to identify the person.

I hate to even speculate on this; it hurts my heart...but I don’t believe the outcome is what any of us are praying for.

Can we link Facebook live posts made by the local news stations?

In the meantime, it has been confirmed by Penn State Behrend that he has not been a student there since summer 2019. Also, based on the surveillance videos, it isn't clear whether he was ever in Ohio that day despite telling his girlfriend. Strange and sad circumstances, I'm not getting a good feeling about this.

If he wasn't at school what has he been doing for over a year and a half? At the age of 21 I presume he would be expecting to graduate this spring. Is it possible he has been lying to his family regarding his attendance and grades and now that he's close to 'graduating' he didn't know how to explain he dropped out?

Edited I see this has already been discussed. He must have been under terrible stress if his deception is true. He would have to explain where his tuition fees and other expenses went.

This must be the 4th or 5th thread I've read on here this week where a car has been abandoned with the owner missing.....amd sadly, I've never read one that ends with them being found.

But I hope this one is different!

There was the case of Chris B., in Texas, who was fortunately found alive two days later. Single car accident, the main concern was that he wasn't there and had left his phone in the car.

But this sounds different; it sounds like Rabin parked the car and walked away.

Has there been any report on where his phone is? Was it left in the car? Vehicle GPS seems to suggest a built-in service, not using his phone for navigation.

The article says his phone was not found in the car and is now “off” — quotes are theirs. It’s no longer pinging so he/someone else turned it off, the batteries died, he’s somewhere without a signal or it was damaged and no longer works. I can’t help thinking a phone submerged in a lake would also be “off”.
