Suicide often doesn't make sense. My friend and veterinarian committed suicide a month ago - worked that morning, scheduled appointments for the next week, called me to report on a dog, left for lunch, got his wife's pistol from home ( had been married 6 weeks), drove to a remote spot in a rural area and did it. Most people were unaware he was bipolar and had been struggling for quite some time, because he put on a great front.

Sadly true.

Suicide does not make sense, but I'm afraid that's what happened. This past year with Covid has been hard on everyone. Rabin is at a tough age. Based on his FB Rabin Subedi He attended a good prep school and then started at Penn State Behrand. I read somewhere he was going for engineering. That's a tough degree.

Since Penn State is saying that he's no longer enrolled, he might feel like a failure. He's got a large family and community to support him, but he might feel that he's let them down...not living up to expectations. His family is from Nepal, there could be cultural norms/pressures that are adding to his anxiety. Could be an overwhelming combination. IMO

My heart goes out to Rabin, his family and all that love him.

The search for a missing man continues at Lampe Marina | WJET/WFXP/YourErie.com

Fontaine Glenn was at the search this morning at a local marina.

Fontaine was at Lampe Marina Boat Ramp where two boats from Search and Rescue Pennsylvania were on the water early this morning.

Fontaine spoke with an Erie City Police Officer on the scene this morning and he says a search and rescue helicopter will be flying along the coast line to the New York border today.

If they have footage of him or someone walking towards the water and possibly into it, if that person didn't actually go in the water wouldn't there be footage of this person walking away from the water as well? IMO
Swanniee11, in the article at the link in my post it actually says into it! I was su surprised because that’s the first time I heard that said. So I don’t know if it’s a journalistic mistake or cold hard facts. I was shocked! MOO

I’m so sorry! That’s tragic beyond words.

Your post was the first one that I read he went into the water. I was just saying it would make sense if there was video of someone going into the water and not out then someone is in the water. IMO

Latest update from this evening:
Search for missing man continues and leads to search and rescue along Lampe Marina | WJET/WFXP/YourErie.com

The search for a missing man who never arrived to his girlfriend’s house in Ohio last Saturday continues.

Here is the latest update on this case.

Two boats from the Pennsylvania Search and Rescue are along the Lampe Marina off of Front Street. Rescue teams told us that they started searching this morning around 7 a.m.

Rabin Subedi was reported missing last Saturday after he didn’t show up to his girlfriend’s house in Kent Ohio.

Millcreek Police found Subedi’s cell phone near Lampe Marina which led police to where his white Ford Mustang was abandoned.

Erie Police told us that security video shows the car was parked there around 10 p.m. on Friday. Footage also showed a person going from the car near the water.

A search and rescue helicopter is also flying along the coast line to the New York Boarder.

A Christian based ministry, Pennsylvania Search and Rescue is assisting with the search today.

The crews are using high tech equipment allowing for underway water and sonar.

“It’s similar to an ultrasound technology where we’re using imagery from the bottom and so we scan in a gridlike pattern and we review targets were interested in and identify through an underway drone,” said Jonathan Gingerich, Chief of Pennsylvania Search and Rescue.

The search will continue tonight until dusk.

Just saw this today. How sad.
I fear this will not end well.
It is difficult for loved ones to come to terms with a suicide, if this is what happened.
A year ago, my friend's son got up, took daughter to pre-school, got gas, texted GF about dinner and went home and shot himself.
We just dont know !!!
I am not saying Rabin is suicidal as there is 50/50 chance it was not him that parked at marina.
I tend to believe it was him, but the only doubt I have is the getting almost half way to GF house and turning around to go back where he came from and head to a marina.
Praying he is found soon.

Following. I am hoping he just somehow wandered off
and will be found alive and well. It seems as if this pandemic
is causing more and more issues to come to the forefront
that in normal times we could perhaps easily handle.
JMO MOO

Sorry - yep! I was shocked to read that they’d seen that much. It’s awful!

Hi everyone! New to web sleuths. Just wanted to add my two cents here.

The number one red flag for me was when Rabin told his girlfriend he was stuck in traffic in Ashtabula, OH. I’m from the area and there is a 5% chance there was traffic. It’s an extremely rural area. I also went to Kent and have been to Erie many times. The route he would’ve taken is all highway. The only way there was traffic is if there was construction and as far as I know there isn’t. This had to have been a fib.

I also agree with the WebSleuth that mentioned Rabin not being enrolled at Penn State any longer. I bet his family didn’t know this as his uncle told the police he was an engineering student there.

I don’t believe that it was him getting out of his car at the marina. No proof, just a feeling based on the way these cases typically go.

I have a bad feeling he was involved in something not so great and something sinister has happened. I hope his family gets some closure and justice.

I agree, she must be devastated and confused. She and people on her behalf made a plea on social media this morning for privacy, stating the news media continue pressing her for interviews.

IMO.

Sorry for serial posting. Where was his car found, I wonder? In a parking lot, at a hotel, on the street, on a deserted road? How was it found and by whom? Soooooo many questions. MOO

His car was found in Lampe Marina.

Anyone come across an update from today’s search?

This is the latest update, but it's just about continuing the search.

Rescue Teams Continue Search Wednesday for Missing Millcreek Man

"A cell phone ping led investigators to Erie's Lampe Marina, where they found Subedi's car abandoned. Security camera video from the area reportedly shows a man getting out of that car and entering the water; however, the footage is not clear enough to identify the person."

A thought I have about some of these cases recently is could they be Covid-related? Whether it's from isolation and/or depression, (or possibly from the virus, itself?), young people are at risk of suicide due to Covid, and I hope this doesn't become a heartbreaking trend.
