snipped ~Detectives later confirmed that Snider had stopped at a gas station off U.S. Route 30 in Wayne County on his way to Memphis, but his wife was not with him like he had claimed.

After reading this article and the BBM above, I just realized that this sick freak had traveled right down the road from my house.
I hope he will finally gives up Bobby’s whereabouts so she can finally be laid to rest.

I didn't think I could still be shocked..... but daggone! WHY?!?!?! So senseless. She was asleep! Their kids. I don't know how you can even process this.
I shudder to think of how he lived with one of his kids and their family, after he killed his wife. I feel for the son he lived with- imagine having a murderer in your house.

This story always stunk to high heaven to me. I wonder if poor Bobbie was abused all these years.

Did she even have cancer?

Did she even have cancer?
I've been wondering the same. To my knowledge, no one has ever confirmed that she had it or not, or if she was truly near the end of her life.

Apparently, judging by the reaction of the judge towards Philip in court, he didn't appear to have dementia, either.

I'd love to know if her doctors were contacted. And if *she* told people she had cancer. If that's just one of his stories, then he'd been doing a lot of planning.

Ew.

Cleveland 19 News
73-year-old who admitted to killing wife now helping authorities search for body in Memphis, Tennessee

Hartville Police tell Cleveland 19 News Chief Larry Dordea is currently on his way to Memphis with Snider to search for his wife's body near the Tennessee River.
Oh so now he buried her NEAR the Tennessee River- I had a feeling he didn't dump her in the river. Thanks for posting this. Breaks my heart to hear how she was killed and then he did placed her far away from home some place where no one has found her yet.

Authorities owe it to Roberta Snider’s family and the Hartville community to find her body, Dordea said. He wouldn’t divulge the location Snider has provided, but said Snider will be riding with him on the trip there.

“Until we get there, we won’t know,” Dordea said. “Maybe there will be some enlightening conversations between here and there.”

Forgive me if this was already posted, but here’s a video of Philip Sniders sentencing hearing. At the beginning, Philip tells the judge “I put her in the Tennessee River...that’s where I put her”.
I pray that Chief Dordea can finally get some truth from him in Tennessee and be able to give this poor family some closure.

UPDATE: Hartville man bludgeoned wife, dumped body

I hope Bobby can be found and this isn't just another wild goose chase/made up story.

I hope so too, Gardener. I wonder if Philip is even capable of telling the truth?
I felt bad for his son at the sentencing hearing. Realizing that the father he knew and respected, is actually a monster.

Also from the article:

“Dordea said he interviewed Snider more than a dozen times before Snider’s April 20 arrest, describing the retired carpenter as ‘smug.’

There are only seven full-time officers in Hartville, an agricultural community of around 3,000 people about 50 miles southeast of Cleveland that’s known for its rich, black soil.

‘We got to know each other pretty well,’Dordea said. ‘He was one of those individuals who felt he was smarter than the people he was talking to. Maybe he underestimated our law enforcement capacities here.’

Dordea believes Snider had thought about killing his wife for ‘a long time.’ He said that although the couple was known to argue, police had never been called to their home.

In the recorded conversation, Snider tells the undercover officer: ‘I didn’t snap. I was numb.’

‘And fed up,’ the officer said.

‘And fed up.’” (BBM)

I really like Chief Dordea. Very much a no-nonsense type and action-oriented, IMO. Kudos to him and his team (of “only seven full-time officers”!) for doing such amazing work.

I wonder how often the type of tactic used in this case is used in missing person cases where foul play is suspected. LE in this case were somewhat lucky, IMO, in that Snider was so forthcoming with information, but there is no doubt in my mind that the undercover officer was particularly good at the job she was tasked with, too.

Perhaps this is a tactic other LE agencies may want to consider using in similar cases.

I pray for Dordea's safety and hope that not only Philip is handcuffed but behind a shield in the car. I also hope that Dordea isn't alone on this trip. Silly, I know, to worry about a member of LE being harmed, but this man did sneak up on his wife while she was sleeping and bashed her in the head. Prayers that Bobbie is found so she can have a proper burial by her loved ones.

Any news of what transpired yesterday with this trip? I pray it provides closure for Bobby’s family.

I don't believe a word this monster says. He is clearly enjoying torturing the family. I hope there is no reduction in his sentence as without finding poor Bobbie the landfill could just be another lie imo
