OH OH - Roberta 'Bobby' Snider, 70, Hartville, 4 Jan 2018 *Guilty*

According to this older WKYC news video, the Hartville police chief says PS was gone for “3 nights away and 4 hotels...don’t know why?”
I may’ve missed it before, but this is the first I recall hearing about PS having 4 hotel rooms.

3 nights away and 4 hotels. That's definitely puzzling as this whole case has been.

Toward the end of this January 11th WEWS news video, the Hartville police chief says that during his interview with Snider “...there may have been issues where forgetfulness was relevant”.

It would have made more sense if it said 4 nights away, three hotels. Maybe they reversed the the numbers?

This case is just so frustrating without any updates. I wonder how the search is going in the Tennessee River, if they've found anything at all- even a piece of a garbage bag, part of a shoe lace, anything.

I don’t he reversed the numbers. He said they left on the 4th and PS returned on the 7th. That’s 3 nights. It is confusing and the LE officer acknowledged that.

3 nights, 4 hotels - first time I’ve heard that

There are so many possibilities if there were indeed 4 hotel rooms reserved/used. Wow.

  • #706
People do stop at hotels during the day to rest up, eat, get washed and continue on their journey and then stop for the night, they were in their 70's and perhaps got weary.

I wonder too, Steelslady. I wonder if they’re still searching the river and also if they’ve gotten any of the results back from the FBI lab? I sure wish we’d hear an update or something soon.

Thanks for finding this video. Here's how I think the four hotels might be accounted for.

1) He told LE they stopped at a Ramada Inn in Sparta, Ky the first night, the evening of the 4th.

2) He drove to Graceland and checked into the Days Inn across from it around noon, on the 5th. He checked out of it at 3:30 a.m. that next morning, the 6th.

3) He only drove a couple of hours before he stopped and checked in to the Days Inn in Benton County, which was very close to the Tennessee River. That would have been early morning of the 6th.

4) I bet he stopped for the night the evening of the 6th, much farther down the road. I've not read anything official but it would have been a very long drive from Tennessee straight through to Ohio.

I think he would be exhausted anyway from little sleep since she died.

That's how I see him staying at four hotels. The one in Benton County was near the River, so he used that as a place just to firm up his plans for the bridge.

Thanks JazzTune. That’s what I wondered too if maybe he stopped at a hotel to rest on the way back home? It is a long way to drive straight through. Although, the police chief seemed to be questioning the 4 hotel rooms as well in the news video? IDK to me, (from that interview) it sounds like LE went in and searched his home, found the receipts themselves and from those determined there were 4 hotels. Maybe he is having some memory issues and doesn’t remember where he stopped or how many hotels he stayed in?

4 hotels makes sense. We did wonder how he was able to make that long trip home by himself once he dumped the body. It's way too much for a 70 year old man.

I’m a 67 year old woman and drive alone, every three months, 8 hours to visit my grandchildren with no problem. The possibility of dementia is far more pertinent than his age. This ain’t your momma’s 67!

SmartSassyBBW, I appreciate you speaking up for those who 'ain't your momma's 67!' However, I'm assuming you're comparing your 8 hour drive to Philip's similar drive between Tennessee and home.

With all due respect, I bet you get a good night's sleep the night before your long drive. You're not in a panic either when you're driving. You're looking forward to seeing your grandchildren again. Not throwing a dead body in the river on your way, I'm sure...

From what we know about Philip's dates and times, there's no way, in my opinion he could have had much sleep at all the night before. He checked out of Graceland motel at 3:30 a.m. the 6th, and drove only a couple of hours before he stopped at the Benton County motel. That alone has him awake the majority of the night before.

This link of a visual map shows a distance of about 600 miles between Benton County, Tennessee, and Hartville, Ohio. It gives a time estimate of about 9 and a half hours between them.

Assuming Philip threw her body off the bridge around 6 to 7 a.m. that morning, the 9 and a half hours should have been doable, if there were no other problems.

Without much sleep though the night before, if any, plus the panic of knowing he had thrown her body in the River, I can easily see why he would not be able to drive that 9 and a half hours straight through.

I'm assuming then that he did stop the night of the 6th, which would have been his fourth motel stay. I agree with Seajay, it would have been too much for a man his age, who had just thrown her body off the bridge.

As for his mental status, that's been discussed here from the beginning. You're in good company here because many people agree with you about the dementia, which would have affected every phase of this case.

However, in trying to pin down this fourth motel stay, I'm only referring to that time interval between Benton County, Tennessee and his drive to his home in Ohio.

Not disagreeing with your post at all...

It's been 9 days and no updates on this case.

Poor Bobbie and her family. My heart aches for them all.

Bobbie- I haven't forgotten about you. Praying you'll be found soon and that your family gets answers as well.

I emailed Monica Robbins, the reporter from WKYC that did the news update from January 22nd. I emailed her last Thursday morning just asking if they would be giving an update on the investigation and if authorities were still searching the Tennessee River, but she never replied.
Thinking of emailing the FOX 8
I-Team in Cleveland next.
Very frustrating!

I wonder if they found her and LE hasn't announced it to save the family the grief of dealing with reporters and looky-loo's.

That or I've been thinking she might not be in that river after all.

Didn’t the sheriff say he passed the polygraph on the river part, though?

I'm wondering if he dumped something else in that river and not Bobby.

I'm surprised that there aren't any locals from that area of the river chiming in on this thread. It would be helpful to know if the search is still going on in the river, or if it's been suspended.

“We do know some of the facts are correct, but we don't know how much," said Benton County Sheriff Kenny Christopher.

Christopher said Philip Snider was "deceitful" on parts of the polygraph test he took but truthful on the section where he claimed he threw his wife's body into the Tennessee River.
