Authorities began investigating the case after a suspicious death was reported on March 13 near Rutland, Ohio. According to court documents, Hochstetler became a suspect following a series of leads and interviews. On May 5, after a key interview with Meigs County sheriff’s deputies, he was formally charged with murder.

While a preliminary autopsy failed to immediately determine a cause of death, Hochstetler allegedly confessed to covering Kinsinger’s head with a blanket during sex, only to discover she was unresponsive afterward.

Rosanna Kinsinger’s father, Moses Kinsinger, said she was an outgoing, friendly person who liked being around people, and her death was shocking.

He said he hopes Hochstetler is repentant, the family wants to forgive him, and through God there is forgiveness. “He started down the wrong path.”

Does anyone know if he is connected to the Levi and Susie Hochstetler family, of Peasticks, KY? They lost 5 children in 2020 to drowning when their horse drawn buggy toppled in a flood zone bridge they were crossing. Articles easily found online said the parents have six other children. At the time, Samuel would have been 1 year older than the oldest child who perished. Curious if he is their son.
