OH - Samuel Dubose, 43, killed by Cincinnati LE during traffic stop, 19 July 2015

There is something about the way he repeats the same question over and over that just seems so off-putting to me. We saw it in the other video with Henley and Demetrius as well.

I thought it was weird and off-putting too. Did he think Samuel's answer was going to change? Was he waiting for a specific answer? WHY didn't he do the easiest thing which would have been to run his information? IME that's what cops do! It appeared to me as if he wanted to harass Samuel and for the situation to escalate, though I can't say for sure if he got his desired ending. Or even what that would have been.

What bothers me about this tragedy and others, is that the LEO seemed to escalate the encounter. I get that LE mostly deal with the dregs of society regardless of race, but I don't understand why they can't use common courtesy. I think LE has a hard enough job to do without overreactions on their part and that of the person they are stopping.

I can't get the images out of my mind of the cop's actions in Texas at that pool party. Nor the video of the shooting of the man in the back as he ran away in SC. As a society, are things so out of control that LE is forced to have their finger on the trigger? Perhaps everyone needs to re-evaluate how they respond to these encounters, so no more people end up dying. This is just so sad for everyone. The cop looked shell shocked in court. SMH

I'm of the opinion that the killer is shocked that he's actually being held accountable. JMO.

What is the best way to post screen shots? I have some that I think would be helpful in demonstrating why I think that Tensing was not dragged by the car until after the shot was fired.

Maybe post screenshots as an attachment? Click the tiny icon, 4th one to the right in the panel with 5 tiny icons. It will prompt you to upload your image. Are they your screenshots?

People like myself who enjoy studying maps might appreciate looking at this map which ilustrates locations of some of the off campus student housing available for University of Cincinnati students. I think it will open centered on the Mount Auburn area where the traffic stop and ultimate killing occured. If you haven't looked at a map previousy, it was in the streets just to the south of Inwood Park.

On the top left of the map there is a box you can click on to have it show the neighborhoods.

I am sure that this is was SD wanted him to do. Go back to his cruiser and once inside SD would have sped off in his car. As I posted above SD had a substantial qty of pot in his car (about 2 pounds) in addition to $2,500 in cash. There was no way that he was going to allow himself to be arrested on a suspended licence charge because he knew he would be facing far more serious charges. IMO the officer sensed that SD was hiding something which is why after repeatedly asking SD to produce a license he asked SD to get out of the car (which was a lawful order). There was nothing Tensing could have done to de-escalate the situation under the circumstances.

Re: the possibility that Samuel Dubose had marijuana in his car:

It strikes me as slightly insane that in 2015, people still try to use Reefer Madness as an excuse to allow the police to terrorize people.

Marijuana has been and is being made available by prescription, legalized, and/or decriminalized in a lot of places all across the US -- including Ohio, the state that Samuel Dubose was murdered in, which has made possession of up to 200 grams a misdemeanor punishable with a fine.

Most folks nowadays know that the most dangerous thing about a healthy adult person consuming the stuff is their getting caught with it in the wrong place.

JMO, anyone trying to justify the shooter's actions in this case -- and the resulting death of a human being -- is going to have to try a lot harder than "He had pot!"

Y'know, I just kinda feel like Samuel Dubose's life was more valuable than any amount of marijuana & cash he might have had in his car. I don't think I'm alone in that, thank God.

Has the pot information been posted anywhere in MSM besides the reporter's Twitter feed yet?

I've been looking, and can't find any evidence of it. I wonder if it's still in the twitter feed? And if it was an authentic twitter account?

Since there hasn't been MSM confirmation, it does seem a shame that it has been treated as a fact here.

You are not, and thank you for putting it so plainly.

He could have taken his keys. How do you think cops ever know when they go back to their car the person they've stopped won't pull away? They don't just get lucky every time.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said after publicly releasing the video. "It was senseless. It's just horrible.

*

He said DuBose had marijuana in the car and about $2,600 cash. "He might have had marijuana, but you don't deserve to be executed for something like that," Deters said.

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2015/07/29/publish/30830777/

No quantity of marijuana was mentioned by the prosecutor. I only saw that one tweet and no further article or report to back it up. I haven't bothered to look further today because I really don't care. The man is deader than a doornail and Tensing appeared to me to carefully select him as a victim of his unsavory patrol techniques. I still come back to why were 3 UC campus cops in the same off campus location at the same time for someone who was missing a front license plate?

Nora, I've found the same information.

Even looking at the tweet, there was no mention of '2 pounds'. I agree, the pot is irrelevant anyhow, but where exactly did this '2 pounds' (or was it 'almost 2 pounds') figure come from?

So far as I can tell, it was a total fabrication from someone, and there was no link to back it up. I wonder why someone would make something like that up? (Actually, I don't really wonder, but I wish it hadn't been treated as a reality here.)

RT knew that the front plate was in the glovebox. He did NOT know whether or not SD was driving on a suspended license, because he did not run SD's name to find out. He did not know anything about a stash of weed. He did not seem concerned about the bottle or the substance in the bottle. His big issue was seeing a drivers license, which, SD admitted, was not on him and suggested that RT run his name. RT said something to the effect of "be straight with me, are you suspended" to which SD said NO.
Run his name, find out if he has a suspended license, and if not, issue a warning or ticket for the undisplayed plate, thankyouverymuch, and move on! Sheesh. JMO
What's to stop him from giving someone else's name and ID number? I've known one criminal brother who's done that to his brother with a clean history. Sometimes folks lie.

What happened to the one criminal brother?

According to FOX 19 Tricia Macke SD had about two pounds of pot in the car!

https://twitter.com/FOX19Tricia

According to Forbes magazine the average price of an ounce of pot in Ohio is $332 so in other words SD was driving around with about $10,000 worth of pot in his car along with $2,500 i.e. it would appear that he was a big time drug dealer.

Well, I guess that is proof that drugs kill. Been fighting the war on drugs for over 40 years, and we are still losing it. But lets keep killing people anyway.

rbbm, jmo

I don't have an answer to this but a bullet to the head seems extreme.

Sadly, being lied to is one of the many terrible risks that every cop has to take every day.

It's crazy and awful that they would have to take this kind of risk instead of just being able to shoot possible future liars in the head, but that's the way of the world.

Well while we await the Fox19 expose on the alleged pot stash, we have this to digest:

http://www.fox19.com/story/29685336/fox19-now-exclusive-new-numbers-reveal-policing-practices-at-

Its very interesting, especially the info specific to Tensing.

In Tensing’s numbers, there is a noticeable spike in citations issued to blacks from 119 in all of 2014, to 189 through this point of 2015. He also goes from zero to 9 citations in the “other” category in the same time frame. The other categories remain fairly steady with little change from year to year.

"The racial differential and flip, if you will, of the numbers is shocking. I can't explain it. I don't know why,” Flynn told FOX19 NOW.

Well there is the evidence. Just another white racist cop using his badge to harass black people.
