OH - Serial Killings in Stark County *ARREST in 2020*

Just an aside - from the link to unsolved homicides above:

The only female homicides listed are four black women:

1. Sarah Scott, found shot inside her home.
2. Gwendolyn Hoisten, shot in her home after opening the front door.
3. Diane Mitchell-McMillan, shot dead through her open front door.
4. Barbara Chillious, found dead in her home (COD not stated)

Being a black woman inside her own house seems like a dangerous way to be, in those parts.

.. looking at the total of unsolved murders, matter of fact, the overwhelming majority are black people of all ages - shot to death in their own homes/vehicles.

Are drive-bys like, a total epidemic in that area? It just seems like a LOT of people being shot in thier homes!

He could be lying to you about the cops looking at someone else....

Have they asked your husband for DNA to compare to the FIL? And other crimes that might have DNA evidence?

The newspaper article relating to the woman who had her hands tied up and had been laid out on display - last part of the article said that they had DNA evidence, but they couldn't match it to anyone....

Min, I wondered if any of the things your FIL brought back to you when you saw him has anything that would be considered to have his DNA on it. Was any taken when he did his last stint in prison?

My biggest concern Min is that he has turned up 'unexpectedly' and been in contact with you... please be vigilant and stay safe.

Absolutely.... I totally agree with FigTree, please be extra careful. I don't know how the schools work where you are, but maybe make sure you and hubby are the only people authorized to pick up your kids from school/daycare (if you havent already)

I've been as safe as I'll ever be and we've made sure to take every precaution we can take.

Nothing he gave us would have DNA on it. It basically was old kids' toys from when we lived there like a little picnic set and some baseballs, etc.
He didn't actually seek us out. We were driving by our old house (that he owns) and he recognized us and flagged us to stop. We did so it didn't seem suspicious at all. We haven't had contact since that day so that's good and we didn't tell him exactly where we live or anything. However, he did tell us that my MIL is the one who told him about what town we moved to, etc. when she would stop by. Why she would be stopping by? I have no clue and I've never trusted her in the 12 years I've known her.

As to siblings, he has a brother that lives in the area and a sister that lives in TX. He has no biological children since he opted for a vasectomy while he was in prison in KS.

So i found the site i was looing for. its a blog so im am not sure if i can post that on here. so ill just tell a little about what i found. after reading a little more i am not sure how well these two murders match the rest. its kind of a long shot. but ill let you guys see what you think. these girls where younger then the others and seems like a diffrent MO but you never know.
Also was or is there a reason these crimes would of ended around 1991? These other two murders where in 1994.
Sarah Boehm went missing July 14 1994 from pennsylvania. she was found November 4 1994 in an Ohio state park. she was 14.
Kathryn Menendes went missing August 21 1994. Her body was found a half mile from Sarah. She was 17 years old.
Now from what i understand Kathryn was from Portage county Ohio same county both girls where found also in Portage Ohio. Unless if i read that wrong. Portage County is only 23 miles from Stark County about 42 min drive.
Now i know Kathryn was strangled and i assume Sarah was as well because LE thinks they may be linked. Also the age doesnt add up. And so they may not fit with these other murders. But 23 miles is pretty close....so you guys can be the judge on if this is a dead end.

I wonder if those murders could be related to Amy Mihaljevic. She was killed during that same time frame in Bay Village, about 60 miles from Stark County. Same age range and still unsolved.

That's why I suggested looking at James Renner.

He wrote a book about Amy and lives in Ohio.... I think he would be a tremendous asset.

Yes, I agree. James is a friend of mine. He actually lives in Akron, right by all these unsolved murders. He's the best investigative journalist to look into this. I'm happy to contact him about all this if Min wants me to.

Oh wow.... I think that would be amazing! Ask MinLynn.

I think he is our best chance....

Agree. MinLynn, say the word and I'll get James on the case. I know he's working on a book about Maura Murray right know, but I know your story would interst him.

Phew! That's good! I thought everyone went away!!!!!!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend....

I'm waiting to hear from MinLynn still

Still fruitlessly searching for cold cases. I was elated last night when I discovered there are actually cold cases listed on Facebook. Oh boy, was all excited! Oh well...
