38 pictures inside his apartment. Wow.
My random thoughts in no particular order:
I asked this before, but why was all his stuff still there if he got evicted back in June?
Can anyone read what is written on the note pad?
Why did he have dishes in a laundry basket? Is there no kitchen?
I see drug paraphernalia, not a surprise.
I don't see any evidence he shared the apt with a woman (supposedly Candice Cunningham lived there too)
It's like he only used the apt for his wooden sign making.
Creepy indeed. And filthy.
The landlord sure has gotten more than 15 minutes fame from the press in this and I don't like him after seeing this dump he didn't bother to clean out since June. JMO.
I wonder how many other apts are in the house and who lived there/what they may have heard/witnessed.
With SG's history of breaking into vacant houses he may have still been using this place after eviction.

I screenshot the note pad so I could enlarge it. It had his "5 year plan". He wanted a place to rent out for people to have parties, do crafts, play pool, etc. and what he planned to charge per person.

To me, it looks like a plan or list of what he wanted to do with that storefront on Walnut St. that he was selling his signs from. Where they searched last week. Considering it mentions musical instruments, pool, darts, chess.

Here is a pic of that place from Google Maps street view, and another pic from his FB, which has to be the same place.

A lot of the stencils you see in his apt are signs on his FB.

Also, I think I saw a couple of dolls and a pink stuffed animal in the pics. I wonder if that is CC's stuff.

Shawn Grate's apartment provides glimpse into his world

"According to landlord Jim Cristman, Grate was living with Candice Cunningham in the room no bigger than 8 feet by 15 feet. Cunningham is suspected to be one of Grate's victims; she has not been seen since late June.
There was no bathroom or running water; Cristman said Grate used a bucket as his toilet. The only electricity was from an extension cord run from the upstairs apartment. It appeared Grate used a space heater to heat his tiny quarters. The room has exposed red brick and a tall ceiling with curling, peeling white paint."

"The large, front windows to the Victorian two-story house were partially boarded up with plywood in Grate's apartment because of vandalism, and a large blanket covered the only other window in the hallway of the large residence, which at some point was divided into four apartment units."

Add to the list, what's up with all the duct tape?

Is this a legal rental situation? No electric except with an extension cord from the second story? A fire hazard waiting to happen, IMO. No bathroom and they used a bucket? Seriously? I know some people live off grid with an outhouse or composting toilet but this was in the city and sounds completely unsanitary and unsafe.

One would think someone would, yes. Also somewhere hopefully she has family, hard to say where she is from. Is there a link anywhere for her that anyone knows of? I got some spare time on my hands for now, would love to help trying to locate her family.

She would have needed a vendors license from the county auditor to sell them legally. Someone who has time could check with the auditor. I'm fairly certain LE would have / should have done that by now. But the license could be under the name of the company she was doing it for.

"Bailey said people conducting door-to-door sales are only required to register in Marion city, not in the surrounding county, and the city records only go back to 2007 because of records retention policies."

Pretty ridiculous imo. Yeah, there are usually policies in place as guidelines for record retention, but they should keep them longer than required to be on the safe side...in case things like this come up.

Thank you for that information, but see the following link. I believe a transients vender license from the STate of Ohio was necessary.

Early autopsy reports in Ashland serial killer case shows strangulation likely cause of death

Cleveland 19 Digital Team, Cassie Nist
Sep 27, 2016 12:39 PM

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Preliminary autopsy records Tuesday morning at the Ashland County Corner's Office show the victims may have been strangled by suspected serial killer Shawn Grate.

Stacey Stanley was found in the basement of the home at 363 Covert Court under piles of garbage and decomposition had already started on the lower half of her body. She was fully clothed and her eyes were bulging.
Elizabeth Griffith was found naked and hogtied with her ankles tied to her neck and her arms tied behind her back under a pile of clothes inside a second-floor bedroom closet decomposition was also setting in. Grate also duct taped the bedroom closet door shut.

Grate told detectives that he had strangled both of these two victims.

Grate identified both of the victims in the house by their first names as Stacey and Elizabeth to investigators on scene. Stacey also had her purse with her. Griffith was identified by dental records for confirmation due to the state of her body in addition to Grate naming her to law enforcement.

There is a good picture of the victims at this link if anyone knows how to attach that.
