Can someone tell me what we are allowed to post from family found in facebook comments? It's been awhile since I've posted and I'm not up on the current rules regarding it. I couldn't find a clear answer.
The comments are off limits, bellyup. If it's valid info, a news reporter usually will pick it up. Then it can be discussed.

I'm not a mod but I know we are NOT allowed to post about family members. We can post what they say only if quoted by the press. We can post links to press social media pages and say "interesting comments" but we can't directly discuss the comments unless they are reported by the media. Comments on articles or fb pages are rumor until reported by an official source (LE/media). I think I got that all right, but hopefully a mod will correct me if I'm wrong about anything.

Wow. Terrifying. What a brave young woman.

I can hardly believe this is real.

I can't believe they didn't kick the door in!!! He could have really hurt her during that whole time they were trying to get the door open...

But I'm glad they at least got her out safely. My heart breaks for the others who lost their lives too soon...and their families.

Notes of Amanda Berry's escape right there. Maybe he was copying Ariel Castro.

The 911 call from the abducted girl has been released. It's approximately 20 minutes long.

http://www.newsnet5.com/news/local-...n-ashland-home-tells-police-ive-been-abducted

I can't believe it took the police 20 minutes to arrive--I thought this was a small town? And the 911 operator kept asking her questions! She did seem to realize toward the end that maybe the abducted woman trapped in a room with her sleeping captor shouldn't make a lot of noise, and she told her to put the phone down when he almost woke up, but, man, that was tense! You could hear the terror in that poor woman's voice.

It's a 15 minute drive from the furthest point of Ashland to the opposite side. Probably assumed drugs were involved because it was at an abandoned house. SS's family member accused LE of not considering her a missing person until yesterday morning...and not helping in the search for her...because of her drug history. This was shouted at them at the end of the press conference yesterday in a longer video I saw on FB.

I think I saw the same extended video of the press conference. And several news videos showed it. Police tried to throw the family members out of the press conference but family stayed near the back doorway and refused to leave.

That was my thought too...except he didn't keep them alive like Castro did.

Some of the content from the 911 call:
"Please hurry," she told the dispatcher.

Dispatcher: "Can you go to the bathroom?"
Woman: "No, I'm tied up."

She said he had a Taser gun and that she was "a little injured" and had been bleeding.

She described the suspect before the dispatcher asked her about getting out.

Dispatcher: "If you think you can get out, you need to get out."
Woman: "Not unless they were right here. He can catch me, he's strong."

The woman was afraid she was going to wake him. At one point, there is 8 minutes of silence as she thought she was in trouble.

The Marion Star interviewed with his former neighbor/childhood friend who of course said he was "normal". They also gave a timeline of his crimes going back to 1996. Here are a few:
In October 1996, Grate and a juvenile accomplice broke into a home by prying open a sliding glass door and stole jewelry and money, according to Marion Common Pleas Court records. He was convicted on a burglary charge in January 1997 and was sentenced to four years in prison, but he was granted judicial release after serving 180 days.

In October 1999, he approached two women with a “long butcher knife” while they were in a bedroom, blocking the doorway and hitting them several times, according to common pleas court records. One woman — who was holding Grate's child — tried to leave to call 911 and he physically restrained her. After that incident, he pleaded guilty to an abduction count and was sentenced to five years of probation. As a result, though, his judicial release on the 1996 charge was revoked, and he served out the remainder of the four-year prison term.

No connection yet to Ashland, local missing women cases

Chief Deputy T.J. Hollis, of the Ross County Sheriff's Office, heads the local Missing Women Task Force and said no link between the two cases has been found as of yet, but he's working with state Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents to find any connections.

"There's no connection that we're aware of," said Hollis. "We have several BCI agents on the (Missing Women) Task Force and they have access to the profiles of our missing women, so if there's a connection we will know quickly."

ETA This is in reference to the missing Chillicothe women.
