I believe I saw his Facebook, but not 100% sure it's him. Looks a little younger in the pics.

I believe I have found it also. He was getting a lot of encouragement from posters for beginning a new job.

Do we know if he is from the area?

This article has a pretty good summary/timeline of the day: http://www.northcentralohio.com/news/single.asp?story=69804

Tuesday morning, around 6:40 a.m., officials arrived at 365 Covert Court in Ashland after a female escaped her abductor and called 911. Ashland Police and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation discovered two dead bodies in the home and arrested 40-year-old, Shawn Grate, at the scene who is currently being held in Ashland County Jail.

Grate is being held on a kidnapping charge in a connection case, according to Chief Deputy Carl Richert from the Ashland County Sheriff's Office.

A press conference was held at 4:00 p.m. in Ashland at The Ashland County Job & Family Services where Ashland Police Chief, David Marcelli, briefly discussed the investigation.

Right? He's another Ted Bundy.

I had the same thought. Instead of using crutches and a cast to lure them, it's apparently pills.

Well isn't he just pretty. Ohio has the death penalty hope he knows. I am going to have to re-read some of this stuff, I read it but I am confused.

They just had the report on WEWS and nothing new was brought out. The pictures they showed of the 2 houses looked like most Officers were gone with one cruiser left behind at each house to ensure the scene is secure.

Stacey Stanley's son was just on the news talking about his mom and how long they have been looking. It was heartbreaking.

Stacy's family upset about investigation: http://www.mansfieldnewsjournal.com...g-woman-upset-ashland-investigation/90331766/
Stanley said police took the family to the Ashland Municipal building Tuesday morning and told them they had found two bodies in the Covert Court house.

That’s what led the Stanley family to believe one of the bodies was that of their loved one. But as the hours wore on Tuesday afternoon and evening, the family had no official confirmation.

“You see this stuff on the news, but you really have no idea until you’re on this side of the tape,” Stacey's cousin, Veronica Stanley said.

Veronica Stanley said the family began searching in the area of the Covert Court home and another vacant house next door on their own before police began investigating at the scene.

The family and friends say they believe their persistence in knocking on the door of the home rattled the man police eventually took into custody, and allowed an abducted woman to call 911 using the man’s cellphone.
BBM. It looks like our earlier guesses about what happened were correct.

Really sad, especially if police weren't doing anything to find her. I wonder who the other missing women are? How long had he been staying at the house in Ashland? It couldn't have been too long, since he had burned down the other house in June. I hope they don't wait long to give families some answers.

SMH at local law enforcement. These little towns like Ashland and Mansfield used to be prosperous, had decent paying jobs for everyone. They closed down all the factories and shipped the jobs overseas. Now it's high unemployment, drug abuse and crumbling towns.

I started a thread for Elizabeth Griffith as well: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...shland-26-August-2016&p=12803532#post12803532

Edna Boals, a friend of Elizabeth Griffith, said she had had negative interactions with the man who lived in the Covert Court house, as the man was always yelling at Boals to get away from his property when she was walking in the area to do laundry at the nearby laundromat.

We posted that the exact same time. =]

Child support warrant. I wonder if he was actually running because he thought they were onto him for the murder of the woman @ the burned house.

The house fire in Madison Twp was on June 20 or 21, according to officials. They have an idea who the dead woman might be. The news reported the foot chase for the child support warrant on June 20-21. That was no coincidence. So I somewhat agree with you.

I *think* someone reported him for stalking or making threats, but didn't file a formal complaint. Perhaps it was a frightened prostitute/drug user. LE ran a check and found the outstanding warrants, which justified going after him. Again, he was "rattled", killed the woman, burned the house, and booked. LE gave up the search, and he went off the radar. Eventually he found a new hideout and new victims.

We'll see, once the details emerge. Don't be surprised to see this thread moved to the serial killer forum soon. (What is it about Ohio and SK's?)

[...]

Richland County Prosecutor Bambi Couch Page confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the man said he had murdered a woman in a house at 1027 Park Avenue East in Madison Township in June, the same month that house was destroyed by fire.

Couch Page, standing near the half-burned small house, said authorities had found a female’s body at the rear of the house in a wooded area, down a ravine.

“Her identity at this time is unknown, but we have a lead as to possibly who she might be and the sheriff’s office is going to follow up on that information,” Couch Page said.

Article which dates the fire.

[...]

Madison Township Fire Capt. Mike Shears said the vacant house burned on June 20 or June 21.

It was definitely suspicious,” he said Tuesday. “The State Fire Marshal’s Office came in to investigate.”

Couch Page said the fire and the woman’s remains are believed to be connected.

It was asked above if we know Shawn M Grate to be local: from sleuthing around a bit he seems to have lived in Ohio (and more specifically the immediate environs) for most of his life.

The FB page people have found for him seems to be the right one based on a couple of connections and a HS grad date of 1995.

Probably OT:
Just 100 miles away was a spate of several women missing/found deceased in 2014/2015. Not implying a connection but I thought I'd pin it here just in case:

Most of these women have thread on here.

How do we know he lured them with pills?
