OH - Sheila Wallace, 58, fatally shot while walking dog in park, Cleveland, 17 Jan 2019 *arrest in 2023*

Razz, you think he’s a local?
What makes you think this is a juvenile?

Also, I'm basing my opinions that this shooting came from a house and not close up.

But, if she was robbed and then shot close up, I still suspect it is someone young and stupid.

Either way or any other way, this is so tragic. Happy to see the family and neighborhood being proactive!! Don't let the punks take over!

Yes. But maybe off the radar?

Idk why I think juvie/young adult. That’s my first and only thought. Some young wanna be 🤬🤬🤬🤬, on the brink of a criminal life, new gun, trying it out, maybe showing off to a friend. Perhaps not a resident of the area but some reason to be in the immediate area. Maybe staying with family/friends.
Someone knows or suspects the perp. Hopefully, leads are pouring in.
This just doesn’t seem like a crime a well seasoned perp would do.
I am surprised the victim felt safe enough to walk after dark. However, she probably arrived home around 6 & had no choice. She was a regular around the park. Evidently she felt safe.
Just horrible.

That would be my first guess.

Really? I never thought of robbery. Only because I doubt she carried a purse to the park. But, a person willing to kill thinks dif’, an addict will take what he can get.
I thought maybe she stumbled upon a drug deal.

That was going to be my next guess Trudie.

That was going to be my next guess Trudie.

Was the killer engaged in something he though his victim witnessed? If so, he wasn’t alone, I wouldn’t think. He apparently was able to flee the scene, quickly.

Or was he simply spree shooting?

I’m still shocked the victim felt it safe to walk, alone, in darkness, in that area. However, I think in this case it would not have mattered if she had a friend with her.

Just too sad. A hard working woman unable to walk her dog w/o being killed. Appalling.

I can't imagine what a robber would get from a woman walking her dog. Maybe her cell phone, but that's about it.

Exactly. I walk mine daily, I have a house key & phone on me, nothing else.
Possibly they had a verbal exchange over something. But what? Did he think she was in his space? IMO, if he’s a regular, police know him & are trying to track him down.
Since it appears she was found quickly (based on reports of gun shots), it sounds like a few people were out walking.

she was an administrative assistant though so I doubt she was targeted for working there

I just reread every newspaper account. Nowhere was it stated she was shot at close range. For some reason, I never thought it would be close up. For whatever reason I thought she'd been assassinated from afar. But if it was dark, that sounds unlikely. But why shoot her and shoot her in the head? That is so cold. Hopefully we'll know more soon. And maybe best chance for catching the perp, is matching a bullet.
Or being able to discover the type of weapon used.

I do think a news feed mentioned “close range” but edited the story, I can’t remember, for sure.
It was dark, for sure, by 7pm. Now, does the park have lights. idk. Not much info about the park. Sounds to me like an area that was privately owned by the McGowan family & they designated it as a “park”, for the neighborhood. We all know how small parks attract unsavory folks, from time to time. There’s one in my town.
LE drives thru, tries to enforce curfew when time allows. A lot of drinking & hard drug use goes on, according to arrest records.

Perhaps jewelry? Wouldn't have to be expensive jewelry...as Trudie said, an addict will take what they can get.

I was thinking he'd have to be standing fairly close to shoot her in the head, especially since it was dark. Even in daylight, a gunman would have to be a sharpshooter (someone with military or LE experience) to shoot someone in the head from a distance. Or else, the shooter just got "lucky." I have heard of people getting shot in the head from a random bullet even from a good distance away. Maybe that was the case here...someone firing shots in their backyard -- not targeting SW -- and now they are afraid to come forward?

Search for killer of Cleveland Clinic worker intensifies
In a strange twist in this case, the woman who found the 58-year-old woman, was shot in the head herself just a few months ago.
[...]
“I was lucky, and she wasn’t. It’s hurtful to me. It’s sad that it happened,” the woman said.
Sounds like someone could be out there taking random potshots at people. Wonder if anyone else in the neighborhood has been shot or shot at.

LE are canvassing the area for video footage and witnesses. Hope they catch this person soon before someone else is killed.

Crime Stoppers is offering $2,500 reward. Their tip line is 216-252-7463.

Some people wear jewelry.

Ugh finally opened this thread...did not want to...am her age, with a dog and if I move from my current apartment, I may have to start walking her in neighborhoods or go to a park. I feel safe where I am now as there are huge grounds, well lit mostly. And I just came in now with her, after midnight. In fact it is the primary reason I keep renewing. So many areas are unsafe, especially in my budget.

I don’t mean to ramble and make this all about me...just really struck home for me. Sometimes the world sucks..jmo. This just sounds like totally senseless violence.

I hope you won't ever need to leave your current place.
