Edgar S. Keiter Jr. was arraigned in Kettering Municipal Court Monday morning in a video appearance on one count of gross abuse of a corpse and three counts of tampering with evidence. He did not enter a plea or speak during court.

Judge Frederick Dressel continued the $1 million bond placed on Keiter after he was charged last week following the discovery of body parts belonging to his father, 75-year-old Edgar S. Keiter Sr. of Croftshire Drive in Kettering.

Apologies for my bluntness but I don’t know how to put this delicately. Did EK Jr kill EK Sr, or “just” dismember his remains?

I think we can call a spade a spade here imo; however, there hasn't been any comment whether or not murder charges are forthcoming.

Kettering police Chief Christopher “Chip” Protsman said homicide charges may be filed in the case, but declined to say if he thinks those charges would be against the man’s son or another suspect.

Sounds like LE just haven't figured out yet how many people were involved in the homicide part, but once they do, they will charge (if I read between the lines). MOO

Local news with a bit more detail…

"There are other individuals being sought by our detectives who we believe have some involvement in this incident," said Protsman.

Police are still waiting for the final report from the coroner's office, but they are continuing to investigate this as a homicide at this time.“

(Kettering Police Chief Christopher Protsman)

“Kettering police Chief Christopher Protsman said homicide charges could be filed in this case, but they did not say whether they believed Edgar Keiter Jr., 52, killed his father, Edgar Keiter Sr., 75.”

Well all I can say is what a lovely family.

I fear this is a case of the son snapping after childhood abuse.

The comments on the PD Facebook page & the 2009 charge of a minor under the age of 13 makes me wonder if that victim was a family member..... perhaps a son/daughter of Jr?
