ARREST MADE - EX-HUSBAND OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025

Feverishly trying to catch up, but I am stunned.

I really didn’t think it was going to be her ex.

I can see now that he probably watched their wedding video 40 times and was worked up seeing her so happy without him.

But to wait all these years???????

I had thought that the reason Monique was shot through the side is that the killer, now known, had held the gun against her side and threatened Spencer that he would kill Monique unless he did as he said. But only the ex will know.

I want to give applause to the police, and also to all the posters here who said the police weren’t saying much because they had discovered the culprit. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

I guess the rest was finding him, arresting him, getting the paperwork done.

R.I.P. and I hope the children will know their parents adored them.

"Records say police were able to identify McKee through neighborhood video surveillance. He was reportedly tracked to a vehicle that arrived just prior to the shootings and left shortly after.
Detectives were able to identify the vehicle and link it to McKee, according to court records. They later located the vehicle in Rockford, Illinois and found evidence that McKee had ownership of the vehicle."
So if the ex has family in Zanesville, as the reports say, he was likely back in Ohio for the Christmas and New Year holidays. He would have been able to stake out the area while in the area visiting family.

You cannot estimate someone's affect by looking at one photo.
After extensive training and 40 years clinical experience doing mental status evaluations all day long, I think I can identify a flat affect when I see it.

Maybe he had the assignment to mention anything but the ex-husband?
Do you think it may have been directed by the cops to stir up a an emotional reaction in the suspect? Mentioning the dog and the video?

Yes I agree. This must have been why co-workers hit the panic button right away, called 911, drove over an hour a way and broke into the house.
And why the relatives’ homes were guarded.

As others have said, LockPickingLawyer and other channels on YouTube have a lot of demonstrations on how to bypass electronic locks. I assume ex stalked them before, saw they had electronic locks, and studied how to get past them.

And as others said too photos of the home and its interior were available online from before Spencer bought it, so I’m assuming he studied those as well.

Definitely seems like he was obsessed with Monique and would let nothing stop him. 😔

How would he have even known what kind of lock they had that he'd be confident he could get in undetected?
Obviously a very smart guy who could do his homework, and he was determined and obsessed.

Honestly seemed like this guy had his life together, being a surgeon himself, having a medical license in another state etc. how freaking sad he’d be so consumed by jealousy he’d do something like this. I thought he had moved on.

Guess people wondering about it were right.
But the motive isn't clear. Consumed by jealousy or just plain simple hatred of Monique and her new-found happiness after leaving him.

Fascinating that he made this life choice given that he's supposed to be an intelligent guy as a surgeon. He's trading a good job for life without parole, presumably.
I have long thought that these people who kill other people, consider the actual event, but then don't consider prison.

Mentally ill and/or drug addicted??

My suspicion is that dental office employees were aware of issues between the ex husband and the couple.

This explains the prompt response, and the boss’ extreme concern that Monique was not answering her phone.
I commented early on that I found it telling that they didn’t seem to have double/triple NYC-style deadbolts on the property, as though they felt very safe and their home didn’t seem to have a high-security “look”, so I took that to mean they didn’t seem to feel they were under threat.

This is a damn shame. RIP. My heart goes out to this entire family, especially the babies left without their mom and dad 💔

He either assumed he was too smart to get caught or he didn't care?

I said there was no danger to the public and that the lack of communication was because they knew. I got called mean. Doesn’t matter. There’s justice for these two victims. May they rest in peace.
And I'm glad to see that the suspect was arrested before tomorrow's memorial service for Spencer and Monique. They will get justice now that he has been arrested, as will their family members and their two young children.

i don’t know why CPD held that presser. they should have just posted it on FB because more people would see it and it wouldn’t waste time…. because that all could have been an email
Facebook is not an official communication channel. Thank goodness.

Reminds me of the Brown shooter who was also very smart and very jealous of his schoolmate, the MIT professor, who he shot 20 years after they studied together.

IMO he couldn't let her win.

Blind rage.

I wonder if the family will issue a public statement today or wait and do it at the funeral ?
