The Tepes married in 2021 and were one month away from celebrating their five year anniversary. They had exchanged their vows inside their home on N 4th St.

How horrific for those poor kids, what a brutal crime. No gun pretty much guarantees this isn't a M/S. A family member is speaking out on social media with the opinion the attack was targeted.

I saw them post it does not seem to have been a robbery and police have stated no signs of forced entry.

my god.
without doxing myself/loved ones, i was driving down in german village visiting family on holiday (i don’t live in columbus but my partner is here) and saw a plethora of cop cars from bake me happy (a business) to my boyfriend’s near whittier (a main street). police were out, active, and looking for things near the many alleyways and side streets of the area.

i can tell you YES the area is gentrified — in proxy to german village, which is a historic neighborhood that tends to price higher for rentals.

the area adjacent is mixed — meaning it’s block by block, varied. if you’re from the city, you know what i mean; by no means is this area “affluent”. it’s developing, yes, but def still more active as far as “crime” goes.

thank God the killer left the children unharmed. I have no doubt if they were older or could possibly identify the murderer they would not have lived to tell the tale. :(
Whoever did this may also not have known children were present.

so it seems like he was targeted (shot multiple times) and she was unfortunately a witness (shot once)

This FAQ alludes to the atmosphere of the Weinland Park neighborhood. There is talk of porches and neighborliness.

Maybe the friend said that to get the police to come back? Is it possible the friend didn't see him at all, but knew if the kids were crying and nobody was answering the door that something bad had happened.
I think this is a possibility. I imagine that friends and colleagues might have been frustrated that LE showed up at the house and then left without resolving the problem.

But I would find it surprising that a friend would say that Spencer was lying beside the bed, when that would be easy to disprove once LE entered the house.

I guess we will have to wait for more details.
All I can think about is those poor young children who were in the house with their dead parents. Thank goodness that colleagues pushed LE to go into the house.

See, this detail is either reported incorrectly, or it really bothers me. Without being too forthcoming, those are a series of 4 of the same homes. Same layout. All of the bedrooms are on the top floor. Some have finished basements with bedrooms but would be terribly difficult to see into that room as the window is in a coved window well. So again, either something is sketchy with the friend who reported seeing him on the floor in the bedroom, or again, it was just reported incorrectly.

Source: Our friends are next door neighbors in one of the 4 homes.
In the linked article that was previously posted, it doesn’t seem to say specifically that the caller said he saw the dentist’s body on the floor from within or outside of the home. I thought I read that there was no evidence of forced entry. If so, was the home unlocked OR did the caller (or the killer or someone else on scene) have a key or code and accessed the home and saw the body and fled outside?

Just catching up and have some random thoughts after viewing the above video ..

At timestamp 00:56 we can see the basement windows and IMO they don't look coved or recessed below ground. They aren't large, but IMO they are at a level that someone would not have difficulty just bending to see inside. If there was a bedroom in the basement, perhaps that's how the neighbour spotted Spencer.

There is no current Google Streetview to see the homes but at timestamp 01:27 in the video, we see the white house on the corner has a very large window on the left side. I'm thinking there may be similar windows on the other 3 homes on the right side, possibly large enough for someone to see into the main floor level. Maybe Spencer was on the floor beside a couch and the neighbour mistook it for a bed.

WRT no forced entry .. they were in the home for 5 years. I wonder if they changed the entry code.

Multiple gunshots and neighbours didn't hear them? Seems a silencer may have been used. (Nothing to support my thinking on this but IMO a silencer would seem more planned and personal than your average random street creep in a robbery.)

Columbus police responded to 1411 N. 4th St. where they found Monique Tepe, 39, and Spencer Tepe, 37, dead at the residence. These police cameras are located about 150 feet from home. Spencer had been shot multiple times, according to a radio run log obtained via a public records request. Police found two young children at the home. A Columbus police spokesman said Dec. 30 there were no indications a murder-suicide had occurred, but could not provide further details.

Columbus Dispatch reporter Shahid Meighan uses his phone to record the distance between pole-mounted police cameras and the victims' home after Columbus police responded to 1411 N. 4th St. where they found Monique Tepe, 39, and Spencer Tepe, 37, dead at the residence. I located the police camera on Google street view, and overlaid it onto a satellite image. It shows a tree on the sidewalk near the residence is likely blocking the camera view of the front door.
With any luck the assailant was stupid enough to park nearby or walk past the camera on their way to / from the crime scene.
I do apologise for my rudimentary MS paint style overlay 🤭

It appears that Monique’s Facebook is already down.
Spencer is a dentist. Did Monique work? Perhaps they had a live-in sitter, or a general housemate. No signs of forced entry.

This article has a few more details relating to the timeline.

Shooting in Columbus' Weinland Park neighborhood kills dentist, wife

Spencer didn't show up at the dental office on Tuesday (Dec 30) morning. A colleague called police at 9:03.
At 9:22 a.m., an officer reported there was no answer at the door. He left.
At 9:57 a.m., a man called police, saying he was at the home and could hear children inside.
Shortly after 10 am a man called police saying he could see Spencer lying on the floor beside a bed.
Police got a warrant and entered the house and found the children.

The friend who saw Spencer's body through a window told police he had last spoken to Spencer the day before.

New records released Wednesday indicate Spencer Tepe was shot multiple times, while Monique Tepe suffered at least one gunshot wound to the chest.

Bit soon imo for a colleague to call police for a no show at work .

Was Spencer worried about something that he confided in the colleague which had alarmed the colleague to phone so quickly . Combined with brother saying he feels its a targeted attack ,tells me something was going on in the background previously

It would seem if he was shot 4 times ,the killer had some emotional ( rage ,anger ,grudge) connection to him . Could it be an attempted extortion or black mail that didn't result in monies being handed over etc

I feel monique was the casualty because she witnessed her husband being shot

Thank god for small mercy's and the kids lives were spared

I wonder were gunshots heard or was a silencer or muffler used , still noisy but less so 🤔
