ARREST MADE - EX-HUSBAND OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025

BIL Robert Misleh just went live on STS and said that 911 caller is absolutely not Monique, and many can corroborate. It was someone who attended a house party they hosted on that date.
I for sure thought not her, a visitor or houseguest. Good to know in this investigation, put that to rest. IMO

I posted up thread that I have the same Yale electronic locks installed on my home. Someone asked if there is an ongoing log available showing when the door is opened, closed and locked? There is a log available in the settings function on the Yale app. It shows the dates/times, which of the codes were used to open the door, if the door locked automatically or if it was manually locked or unlocked.

ETA: Screenshot of my Front Door log.
There are different versions of Yale electronic locks and they all look quite similar. For this feature on most you need to purchase the additional app module or hub which some people don’t do.

These Yale electronic locks have an override key which is very easy to forget about because you never really have to use it. So if it went missing or wasn’t returned you wouldn’t even notice until you need it.

They are also very easy to bypass so please make certain you have deleted the factory and default master code, and that you have additional key locks on the door.

Hey y'all, longtime lurker who lost/forgot my old account!

Going off just what we know, I think this does appear to be someone they know. Reason being there was no forced entry AND they appear to have had a very large social circle.

Also, the fact that three men managed to get inside for a welfare check before police would indicate that there were decent # of people who had their key access code or perhaps knew where they stashed a spare key.

The man in the video seems to be walking with intent. He doesn't seem interested in anything but getting to where he is going, and yes, hiding his face. Definitely a strong POI from my POV. Also, he has a bubble butt lol. Someone's gotta recognize that ass.

I don't think this is burglary gone wrong. Yes, that can happen, but generally you don't burglar a place at 2am and not expect people to be home. If the suspect were planning to rob the place, they would have accounted for that, and perhaps, not tried to do this alone or gone back at a time when the house was empty (when most home robberies occur).

The fact they are operating alone, at 2AM-5AM, and able to get into the home without forcing entry, makes me think it is someone who was targeting them specifically. And without knowing more about them, including former relationships, crypto accounts, etc, then impossible to guess why.

Oh and yes my work would call 911 on me after an hour of no-showing. And I am not a doctor. As another person here said, most professionals get to work on time religiously.
The booty was the first thing I noticed.

My other thought is this could be like the Mcstays in the since that the owner of the Clinic was the one that called and seemed so concerned over just being late, but complete speculation

How is this relevant?
I was speaking about the need for two therapy dogs to be brought in when the children already had a dog. I didn't say it was relevant. IMO

Well that's interesting. I tried to put myself in a situation of being a guest at a party and having such a fight with 'my man' that I'd stay and call 911, hang up, ANSWER THE PHONE AT MY HOSTS' HOUSE (landline?) and continue crying vs squashing the argument/making an early evening of it and heading home to talk privately. A reason for doing that would be knowing the partner was violent and i would not want to leave the safety of my friends' home. Scary situation. Could the partner be embarrassed /a threat?

It sounds like the police did not go to the home that night for the domestic call?

MOO

Yeah. I am leaning more towards a family member who maybe wanted to raise the children or benefit from their life insurance or wills.

I agree - I think it’s a Caucasian male in his 30s or early 40s. Wearing a mask.
Looks like my black cat 🙂

I am trying to figure out what wills and insurance polices have to do with this case. This was not an extremely wealthy older couple where people would be fighting over inheritance, etc.

Yes money could be an issue but not life insurance and wills.
If it was a relative they would inherit from their estate, life insurance, they would gain more through an inheritance of an elderly parent died… example, if I killed my brother I would inherit 50% more from my elderly parents when they pass….

The BIL also said the babies are fine financially so. Isn’t Spencer’s dad a lawyer or a judge?

My husband said a lawyer sounds familiar but can't remember for sure

Oh wow.. interesting piece of info. I do hope they're looking at anyone who attended these parties. Not that having parties is bad, but could indicate who would have familiarity with their home, keypad etc.

Someone having a domestic dispute with her boyfriend at 2:45am at one isn't ideal. :( I hope LE can look into it and determine whether it may be related.

i've been here for a really long time...the honda civic reference made me laugh (which we all rarely do here for obvious reasons)...because it's spot-on and so true.

what bothers me most about this discussion is the assumption that the perp cared about the children hence leaving them alive...if the perp cared about the children, he/she/they (and IMO it's 'he', close to the family and knew the keycode) wouldn't have murdered their parents.

it's someone the family knows, IMO...also why LE is present at two relatives' homes.

i too saw the "face" in the blurry video. IMO the perp was leaving a crime scene calmly and coolly given the freezing temperatures and the crazy time of night. IMO he wasn't a pro, or a family member but was definitely hired by a friend or family member...
The Honda reference made me laugh too.

Someone up thread mentioned bets on Venmo a couple years ago... I will say high stakes sports betting is really big right now, and with football season coming near end. Might be completely irrelevant but another poster mentioned it and I thought it was worthy to consider.

Some background:

A professional urban couple living in Columbus Ohio, in their 30's would probably want to host some parties in their home with their peers, friends and work colleagues. They would probably have adult beverages and stay up past midnight.

The pictures I have seen online of their home or a similar one look perfect for entertaining.

Columbus is the largest city in Ohio, and one of the more sophisticated cities in the state, and quite social. It is the state capital, with a large public service work force. Also there are quite a few national corporate headquarters located there.

Columbus is also home to Ohio's flagship university (over 100,000 students and employees) and home to the beloved and adored football team, the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Right around the time of the murder, many homes across Columbus were hosting (indoor) tailgate parties to celebrate the Cotton Bowl. The city was almost giddy with the convergence of New Years Eve and the Cotton Bowl on the same night.
Parties were being held all over the city with quite a bit of drinking and what have you. It is normal.

However yes really wild parties, out of control, etc with young children would be frowned upon. But I have not heard of anything along those lines with this couple.

Just been catching up on the thread - thanks for all your insights especially the locals on the thread it’s always insightful to get a feel for the area.

A few keep bringing up comparisons to the Bryan Kohberger case I just don’t see it - that house was a party house where security was not a huge priority or concern to them.

This is a family home with young children I really can’t see the parents leaving a door unlocked. MOO.

I think the perpetrator either knew the code for the door or knew how to override one of the electronic locks.
I can see a door accidentally left unlocked. For example, perhaps they let the dog into the backyard before bed and someone forgot to lock the door when letting him back in.

I don't know that happened, but it's not impossible a door gave access to the home.

I guess it is a motive, but seems lower down on the list of probable theories.

Linking the above video released by Columbus police.

Supposedly these homicides were committed between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.

The above-linked video seems to show daylight (notice the long shadows when the POI walks).

Daylight in Columbus, OH, on 12/30/25 was at 7:58 a.m. (see link below).

So, if this is indeed the perp, where was he for two - three hours before he started walking around in daylight?

Sunrise and sunset times in Ohio, December 2026

Weather on 12/30/25 apparently was light snow.

When you think about this logically it’s actually slightly weird - not the concern. But how fast they made it to the house to do a welfare check when they had already called police - given the distance of the work location and the home
I didn't pay attention to this. How fast did they make it to the house after calling police first time?

Ah ok. Where are you getting this info? What is sts?

Here's the interview from tonight with the BIL, he sheds light on the 911 call and the party.
