He had dead eyes and flat affect.
We see that so often. There are strange creatures among us and they are human. Unexplainable.

They moved to Virginia and she left him. She escaped in the middle of the day. He came home from work and she was gone. He would have looked at that as being an abandonment and that would have been enough for a psychopathic killer. That appears to be the score he was settling.
Monique had to "escape". Tells me that she feared him, that their marriage had turned into a nightmare. I don't think this was about money or whatever the reopening of the divorce settlement was about.
This guy was enraged, possibly abusive, and needed to settle a score in his sicko mind. Revenge.

They had a non traditional lock on the door - a digital one right? I use completely random passwords. Makes it harder for sure. I did not think they were killed in bed, so maybe a home alarm went off? Seems crazy to drive 5 1/2 hours to try passwords.
Stephan sterns used his birthday as the passcode for a phone that contained thousands of pics of CSAM,

My suspicion is that dental office employees were aware of issues between the ex husband and the couple.

This explains the prompt response, and the boss’ extreme concern that Monique was not answering her phone.
Yes I agree. This must have been why co-workers hit the panic button right away, called 911, drove over an hour a way and broke into the house.

Everyone keeps mentioning their dog. Was the dog from her previous relationship and the murderer knew the dog? This is quite common with relationship breakups. One person gets custody of the pet.

If not, who is to say he wouldn’t have killed the dog too. He’s the one with the power after all (gun).

According to the Ohio Medical Board website, he currently does not have an active medical license in Ohio.
If he lost his license because he went off rail during/after the divorce, I bet he blamed Monique for that.

my two cents - this was not his first trip to columbus...he could've easily stalked with a telephoto lens and took pictures of them entering/exiting the house, hence getting the keycode for the front or back doors. he knew enough to park in the alley vs. the street and keep his face shielded from the cameras...he didn't 'get away' with this (and thank g-d he didn't) as a fly-by-night random road trip to ohio. IMO.

I’ll bet his phone gave him away.
Yep. And his license plate. He drove his own car and they clocked him walking to/from the crime scene…

In other words he's currently not licensed to practice medicine in Ohio.

I believe Rockford, Illinois is pretty close to the Illinois and Wisconsin border.

Wonder if he even has a medical license in those states.
Interesting then, quite expensive to go through medical school, intern, residency, fellowship to end up not being able to practice. Not to mention the work involved in getting through it. Wonder if he thinks she is the reason

And once again, anger and sadness collide. That someone could do this to this lovely couple, while their babies were right there.

So wrong, so unfair.

I'll be back, after an ugly cry.

Hope somebody is holding those babies tight, and can show them a world that is more good than it is bad.

Because it's hard to make that statement right now.

JMO
Thank goodness he didn't harm the children.

Gosh this is just so so brutal and so so sad. It's very upsetting.
How can we stop people from thinking this way and becoming so obsessive and angry?

Holy crap! I live 30 minutes from Winnebago county. Was not expecting that. What a waste of so many lives and talents. RIP Spencer and Monique.

He was a vascular surgeon and would have had no difficulty finding another wife. But he apparently wouldn't let go and was obsessed with her. Now he'll probably spend the rest of his life in a prison cell.
I wish he’d have never found Monique. She’d still be alive.

That’s why it’s understandable people were getting frustrated with the BIL, and I still don’t agree with how he acted.
Maybe he had the assignment to mention anything but the ex-husband?

I would think someone THAT obsessed would have moved to live closer to her

Be cautious when sleuthing McKee. There is a well known orthopedic surgeon with the same name who has practiced in AZ and perhaps other states. Likely unrelated. This McKee was a vascular surgeon.
