OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025 *ex-husband arrested*

Does Ohio have the death penalty?
Yes the death penalty is on the books in Ohio but no executions since 2018. Currently concerns about the drugs used in the process of execution.

But a person can be sentenced to deaths and just sit on death row, I think.

Prosecutors could use this as leverage to force the killer to plead guilty to life in prison, no parole?

Geez, I hope they have more than he came near the house and left in a car.
I'm sure they have plenty of digital evidence or they wouldn't have charged him?

Yes! I thought for a minute that he has a growth or tumor in his right jaw.
Yes, his appearance drastically changed for the worse while hers improved since their wedding photos. She was positively glowing in the wedding video with Spencer.

He was a vascular surgeon and would have had no difficulty finding another wife. But he apparently wouldn't let go and was obsessed with her. Now he'll probably spend the rest of his life in a prison cell.
Then again maybe not if he is one of those angry. opinionated or very positional, cheap control freaks,
Girls will pick that up, some wont put up with that anymore.

Wow, I suspected the ex at first but then I told myself there’s no way someone can hold a grudge this long.
I had the same thoughts as you did:

Statisticaly, Ex's make strong suspects. But as you noted, divorce was years ago, no children. A surgeon is going to have money for good lawyers and will have plenty of post marriage romance options- even with out being "Mr. Personality".

One of the victims reopened the old divorce proceedings, might of found assets that he concealed? Surely, an angry, but still objective thinking surgeon would respond with something like one of the following:

A. Ok, here is the full amount of "X" right now- no drag out drama.. Just sign this contract renouncing all future claims.
B. Take "X"- 50%. Or, I"ll fund a lawyer and drag this out for years. Yes- any recreational this or that usage that I find out about gets reported to the medical board. But... Please, come get your X-50% and I will just go back to my life.

But double murder?

They must. But the PCA is so short, compared to some we have seen.

They were divorced in 2017. He completed his surgical residency in 2020…which was prob 3 yrs. So they were Married during med school. He prob went on to a fellowship…which in my child’s case was another 3 years. So he is just starting out but into the big paychecks now.

Was the reopening of this case about money?
When they divorced his salary/income was listed at $55,000. According to divorce documents that were read in a report upthread from earlier today.

The have the casings… and probably loads of phone data… 🤞🏼 the circumstantial evidence ce is going to be strong. Maybe they’ll even have dna

I want to know why his license was suspended. Driving while suspended I think shows a personality, especially a dr who’s usually pretty law abiding. Disrespect for authority . Arrogance.

I feel ineffably heartbroken for this family. The children who won’t remember their parents and will discover how they died.

The brother-in-law who maybe has some annoying traits, who is not only innocent but has stepped in to care for the children.

I hope that maybe we can all walk away a little from the notion that poorer people in a gentrifying neighborhood are out to rob or slay their more well-off neighbors.

I’m a New Yorker. There are “good” neighborhoods and “bad” neighborhoods, yes.
But within those neighborhoods are wonderful people, terrible people, crazy people, in ANY neighborhood.

And here apparently was good ol’ Dr. Spencer Tepe, involved in helping needy children.

What a loss to the family, to the neighborhood, to his dental practice, to their friends and co-workers.

Such a waste.

IMO
Yes it was not the good people of Weinland Park who hurt the Tepes. In fact some of them may have provided information to help the police.

Most abused wives who successfully left their abuser are not going to go back in time to poke the bear. Especially when they have a wonderful marriage, children and are set financially.

You would think someone who rose to that skill level wouldn't have such a fragile little ego
Maybe sometimes that is why they seek out prestige jobs, trying to fill the void. But for people like that, nothing is ever enough. Monstrous.

I think I can mention now, please delete mods if not, that there was speculation that a baby monitor, or Alexis type device picked up interaction between the perp and Tepe's. They speculated that the person did not enter and kill them right away, there was talk, movement. They speculated that it didn't have to happen, it could have been stopped. I guess we will find out more as things unfold. Great work by Columbus PD, under such pressure!!
I do believe there was some sort of discussion. McKee must have been able to enter the premises quickly and quietly without setting off the alarm.

Unless he marched the two up to their bedroom at gunpoint (seems unlikely), he might've terrifyingly surprised them in their room as they slept.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that one was shot well before the other. Either way, I think there might have been many minutes of horrifying interaction with this twisted misogynist.

I wonder what his motive was after almost a decade since divorced? It's not over the kids cuz they aren't his.
He never got over her rejection. Maybe he recently discovered her family photos. She did not post on fb any more, but Spencer did.

Truly speechless. I didn’t see this coming based on their relationship and facts of the divorce.
