OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025 *ex-husband arrested*

This is a heartbreaking case no matter what the "reason" was for their deaths, but knowing that they died at the hands of some pathetic ex from YEARS ago has honestly made me sick to my stomach. From what people have been posting here, it sounds like she fought to get away from him in the first place. I'm sure she thought after literal years she was finally safe.

Such a shame that -- yet again -- an ex is to blame for the senseless murder of two (by all accounts) caring and kind individuals, and new parents at that. My heart is just absolutely broken for them and their family, especially their two sweet children. It makes me sick to think of the possibility that she recognized him and knew who was responsible for her final moments. I hope he spends the rest of his pathetic life in jail. (MOO -- although I'm sure many of you agree.)

The Plunder lady seems to think the ex is innocent based on that video. She does mention some Facebook page that blames the ex but she discredits that page as fraudulent.
I think she needed to be careful, as she said, slander. But she talked about him refusing to sign divorce papers, holiday cards signed weired etc. Enough for me to conclude, after hearing her, that he was my #1.

NOW: Michael David McKee, Monique’s ex, has been taken into custody in connection with the murders of Monique and Spencer Tepe. Investigators with the Columbus Police Homicide Unit say they identified a suspect vehicle through neighborhood surveillance, later locating it in Rockford, Ill., where evidence tied McKee to the vehicle after the killings. I have requested docs..

Are you thinking steroids?? Roid rage is real and can be terrifying.
Yes, anabolic and corticosteroids can induce rages/psychosis, but he could also have been using antipsychotics (or a combination of any/all of the above). I have zero evidence of this beyond his photo comparisons—and this is pure speculation said in NO WAY to diminish or excuse the awfulness of his many horrific crimes.
I am just finding his mugshot shocking, compared to the man MT married way back when.

SO GLAD the killer was identified and arrested. What great news. Fantastic police work! I hadn't guessed it was Monique's ex, but I thought all along that it was indeed someone Spencer and/or Monique knew, and that the murders were quite personal. That press conference the other day with no real info strengthened my feeling that the police knew way more than they were telling the public, and were close to an arrest. I wonder how early on they actually suspected Michael McKee!

As for McKee's motive... to me, it's no big mystery, no shocker. I'm really FED UP with male violence against women, how common it is, how it seems like it will never end. A man who abuses or murders his female parter, or ex, is so horrifically common, that all that shocks me is that people are still shocked by it.

It's going to be interesting to hear what police have beyond surveillance and the vehicle that allegedly ties McKee to these crimes. Also...was he actually the person of interest in the video put out by police?

According to the Ohio Medical Board website, he currently does not have an active medical license in Ohio.

In other words he's currently not licensed to practice medicine in Ohio.

I believe Rockford, Illinois is pretty close to the Illinois and Wisconsin border.

Wonder if he even has a medical license in those states.
his license in Nevada is expired.

He didn't even try to use a different vehicle.

He had the discipline and social skills to get all the way through medical school and become a surgeon.
So what happened?

Was he one of these people with two very different personalities -- fine in public and evil behind closed doors?

Did he actually practice medicine anywhere after obtaining his licenses?

I wonder what any med school classmates, teachers, or any patients have to say about him?

To think that many of us thought that Monique was collateral damage and Spencer was the primary target by the way they were shot. So thankful that this guy didn't harm those innocent children. I believe most of thought from the very beginning it was personal and not a stranger.

Once I heard Plunder's video, and all that she said, I knew it could be him as people can harbor resentment and hate for decades, their whole lives really. And he had done some very bizarre things after she filed for divorce. I am just hearing, so I now have to go catch up on what is happening, happened, and what will now be revealed about Michael McKee. I am so very relieved for the Weiland Park community. They are working hard to keep their crime rate down, and have come a long way. They can at least feel safe, and at peace. I know this is a huge relief, shock, and devastating news to the family. Oh how heartbreaking, truly, truly. So many people hurt by this.
Once we knew she had an ex many of us just quietly suspected him and just pretty much sat tight while the police did their work… the ex is so commonly involved, it’s sad.

I feel ineffably heartbroken for this family. The children who won’t remember their parents and will discover how they died.

The brother-in-law who maybe has some annoying traits, who is not only innocent but has stepped in to care for the children.

I hope that maybe we can all walk away a little from the notion that poorer people in a gentrifying neighborhood are out to rob or slay their more well-off neighbors.

I’m a New Yorker. There are “good” neighborhoods and “bad” neighborhoods, yes.
But within those neighborhoods are wonderful people, terrible people, crazy people, in ANY neighborhood.

And here apparently was good ol’ Dr. Spencer Tepe, involved in helping needy children.

What a loss to the family, to the neighborhood, to his dental practice, to their friends and co-workers.

Such a waste.

IMO

He is probably smart but has poor social skills. Similar to the Brown shooter.

View attachment 636314Does anyone else think it looks like he could have hypertrophy in his jaw due to anabolic steroid use, or a swollen (moon) face due to corticosteroid use? Or weight gain due to use of other medications? I’m wondering whether his mental state could have been altered due to presence of medications—his face looks so seriously different from his wedding photo from years ago, when hers looked largely the same.

No excuses for the perp—just looks to me like his facial features have been markedly altered and wonder if steroids (anabolic or cortisones) or antipsychotics could be a factor …
Yes steroid use can cause:
-Mood Swings
-Aggression and Violence
-Paranoia and Delusions

And as a side note, illegal drug use or abuse prevents a killer from using the NGRI defense, Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity.

Wow! I’m glad you found this and they have him in custody. He wasn’t on my list of suspects.

Yes—totally.

I just think this is hypertrophy over his whole face and head (temporal/masseter…). With enough illicit drug use to grow muscles this large, I’d expect poor skin, etc. It’s pretty remarkable, no?
Yes! I thought for a minute that he has a growth or tumor in his right jaw.

Local news reporter has posted the probable cause affidavit. It is pretty short and just reiterates that they were able to link a car seen on surveillance to his identity/ownership. I’m sure they’ll have a press release or conference that is more specific.
Geez, I hope they have more than he came near the house and left in a car.

Is there anything out there on him, you're the one who finds "stuff" :)
An earlier post uptread from today, there is a video with a female presenter (might have been Plunder) and she reads through a lot of the divorce filings. Shows the actual documents, etc. mainly to show how uneventful the divorce appeared to be.

One interesting bit is that Monique says she paid for the engagement and wedding rings (totalling around $5,000). Their debt seemed low and so did their assets. But M agreed to pay her ex about $2,500 (I think from credit cards) and if it wasn’t paid by a certain date, he would charge her interest (22%).

I haven’t seen this in print but on one program it was said her ex is a vascular surgeon who remarried 3 months after the divorce.
