Ohio State University has confirmed on its FB page that M<Modnsip>N<modsnip> is no longer a student there.

Word is he was expelled.

Nancy Grace will be coving this case today.

Is there anywhere this guy claims he didn't have knowledge a crime was committed or was being commited?

Hi attorney words it this way:

N<modsnip>, now 18, was drunk and made statements about things he had heard or been told and did not participate in any of the events, McNamara said.

And, he only infers he wasn't 'there' by saying his statements referred to thing he had heard or been told.

Not sure that was the most adequate statement, but I do appreciate his parents are NOT defending him. Thats a rarity, AFAIC.I would literally die of shame if I'd put my parents through something like this.

Why hasn't any of these technological geniuses isolated the audio on the tape & transcribed it so there can be no doubt? And cell phone pings would be nice.

OK... I have been wanting to post this "fact" for some time, but needed to find a MSM link to support it. Last week, I read that the photo of the blue-shorts girl being carried was not taken on the night in question, and the subject is not the current victim. I am still not 100% sure, but I believe this indicates that.

“I deeply regret my actions on the night of August 11, 2012. While I wasn’t at the home where the alleged assault took place, there is no doubt that I was wrong to post that picture from an earlier party and tweet those awful comments."(sbm)

This quote is part of the apology issued by C.S. in response to his involvement in this. The part I wanted to bring to the forefront is bolded. The photo that is circulating of the young lady in the blue shorts and grey shirt, being carried by two boys, one holding her feet and the other her arms IS NOT a photo from the August party from which the charges stem. The girl in the photograph IS NOT the victim in this case. This photo was in circulation among the students of Steubenville High School, and was initially being cited as a photo of a DIFFERENT girl at a DIFFERENT party, to show that this was not the first time that boys have mistreated an intoxicated/unconscious girl. That somehow got lost in the furor over this case, and is now being cited by several sources as being a photo taken of THIS VICTIM at the August party, and it seems many of our members have been mistakenly perpetuating inaccurate information.

Of course, it is possible that his words mean that he took this photo at an earlier party the same evening, at which (he claims) NO sexual assault took place, and that it IS a photo of the victim, and I am mistaken. Of course, if this photo was taken EARLIER that evening, and is indicative of the victim's condition at THAT point, it is pretty powerful evidence that she was incapacitated by drugs and/or alcohol well before the sexual assaults took place.

Interesting article.

From this past year (April 17, 2012)

http://www.wtov9.com/news/news/former-big-red-star-wvu-player-sentenced-assault-d/nMbfB/

snipped

Prosecutors were asking for 4 to 20 years concurrent jail time for two counts of assault during the commission of a felony (robbery, one apparently armed). He instead received 5 years probation w/ 250 hours community service.

A slap on the hand, in my opinion.

Well there you go. The answer to how people could ignore crimes in that community. The nicest, best kid does armed robbery.

Who can imagine what not nice kids do there

Respectfully snipped, LisaB. I interpret his words as meaning he took this photo from an earlier party the same evening.

Monday, Jan. 7, 2013Attorney calls video referencing teen rape ‘insensitive, disappointing, unfortunate’

According to McNamara, hackers reactivated his client’s Twitter and Facebook accounts to get access to the video. He said his client’s email and his family’s email accounts were also hacked.

State investigators and prosecutors said they have seen the video, but it is not clear if it will be a part of February's trial against the two defendants charged with rape.

I didn't realize the video came from N's own account.

I think Attorney Dennis McNamara (or the author of the article) needs to get all the facts before speaking publicly. He said:

M<modsnip>R<modsnip> and T<modsnip>M<modsnip> both 16 and members of the Steubenville High School football team, are charged with raping a 16-year-old fellow student at a party last August, according to statements from their own attorneys.

The girl IS a high school student, but the term "fellow high school student" implies that they all attend the same school. This is not the case. The girl not only does not attend school in Steubenville, she doesn't attend a school in the state of Ohio at all! She attends a private parochial school in her home state of West Virginia. She was transported across state lines at least once in the commission of this crime, when she was dumped unceremoniously on her parents' from yard. She had previously dated CS who, when she broke up with him, made veiled threats in social media to the effect that he would get even. I do not have a source for that, though given time, I believe I could find one.

So basically, because the sheriff is engaging the press in this matter, he simultaneously provides the defense with a means of having the charges against their clients dropped. Perhaps this was his intention?

You got it. Crazy like a.... :furious:

I had read that the photo was from a party earlier in the summer. Unfortunately, details of this horrid story have been published many times, and the articles seem to be amended periodically, and I was not able to find the original article I read it in.

Well, I can tell you a personal experience about "the nicest kid." My son has Aspergers. He is handsome, he is extremely smart, but he has very few friends. He sucks at sports. He came home his freshman year. He had gym class. They had to pair up & play badminton. He got paired up with a REAL football superstar, highly touted & recruited, holds every county record in a foolzball county. I can imagine how challenging it would be to play with my uncoordinated 14 year old, who at the time was about the size of a fifth grader. "he told me I was better at badminton than he was." "he high fived me!" He went on and on. Touched me in a way I can't even describe. Every major college wanted him, but his grades were too bad. Now he is incarcerated 30-40 years for kidnapping, armed robbery of people who easily recognized him. Did I go testify on his behalf? No. (some people did). But it is still tough to think about what he could have been, even outside of football, with the right guidance.

This is a lovely story, hollyjokers. Regardless of the crime he committed later in life, he had heart enough to know that reaching out to someone with a different skill set costs very little and means so very much.

I doubt any of the children we are discussing on this thread came into the world so desensitized that they would turn their head at someone being victimized in this fashion.

"WOW, just WOW"!..

"Silence by the Main Stream Media & The Good Ole Boy/Girl Network is the Predator's most Lethal Weapon"...imo

Nov 12, 2012, Hanlin's son (and parents) pose for picture of him choosing Kent State accompanied by a fairly long glowing article.

On another note ... the MO radio show talks about reporting a felony and other stuff.

I was referring to the WVU player Hanlin testified on behalf of. Something about that kid made her put her reputation on the line on his behalf. In Morgantown, WV. if he screws up again, the so-called good ole boys network of Steubenville would not be able to cover her a$$ there.

I'd like to say I'm surprised by this, but sports have way too much power in towns. I have no problem believing that this was a cover up. I think the kids that might have gone to the cops were afraid of repercussions from the team AND the administration. JMO

Such a conflict! On one hand they say once they get out of school, they got no more use for them. They don't care what happen to them. Or, they get into trouble down the road, they'll send their top DA to pull strings for a get out of jail free card. Where, oh where is the truth?
