Sylvia McGhee, 14, of Canton, Ohio, was declared dead at about 5am Saturday after a passerby reported finding her body on the street an hour beforehand, News 5 Cleveland reported.

Police said McGhee had a single gunshot wound to her head, while her body was found just blocks from Aultman Hospital, according to Cleveland.com.

During the investigation, police interviewed two suspects, teenage boys ages 13 and 14, who are not being named.

Police said Monday that the 13-year-old was taken into custody and charged with obstructing official business after lying to police. The 14-year-old remains a suspect in McGhee's death, but has not been charged or taken into custody.

Authorities are still investigating the incident and reviewing cell phones for more evidence.

Family says Canton girl was lured to alley and killed
The victim’s family said it was uncommon for McGee to be outdoors in the middle of the night. They believe she went outside to talk to a 13-year-old boy they described as her best friend.

“She had a lot of friends who wanted to commit suicide and she was always talking them out of it. She’d tell them to ‘Just calm down and think about it. Things’ll get better,’” her grandmother said. She said her granddaughter frequently talked to the boy via social media, adding, “I don’t know what he told her to get her to come outside.”

A 13-year-old boy murdered a teen girl — because he mistakenly believed she was pregnant with his child, according to reports.

The teen, now 14, admitted in juvenile court to murdering 14-year-old Sylvia McGee, who was shot in the head in March just a block from her home in Canton, Ohio, according to People.

The killer, who was not identified because of his age, believed the girl was pregnant with his child, prosecutors say — even though the autopsy showed she was not.
