Police are seeking the public’s help in locating missing girls Tamani McCalla, age 2 and Talisha McCalla age 4. The mother of the girls, Caryann Sewell, was ordered by the court to turn them over to the Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services and has since taken them and not complied with the order. Anyone with information relative to the whereabouts of Tamani and Talisha is asked to call 911 or 216-621-1234.

Euclid girls missing after mother defies court order to turn them over to children’s services

[...]

Sewell, 23, of Euclid, attended a court hearing Monday at which a judge determined she must turn her daughters over to the DCFS. She left the hearing and picked the girls up about 5:30 p.m. from All About The Children Childcare on Euclid Avenue near Avalon Road, the report says.

Sewell later made contact with a Euclid police officer. She confirmed she was aware of the court order, but said her daughters were no longer with her because they were “out of town,” the report says. She refused to provide any additional information.

Fairview Park police officers saw Sewell and her daughters Wednesday, but she lied about her identity and led officers on a car chase to evade arrest, authorities said.

[...]

Someone reported seeing the girls left in a car for about an hour outside a business on Lorain Road near West 208th Street. When Fairview Park officers arrived, the girls were inside the business with Sewell, who was trying to apply for a job, police said.

Sewell provided a false name, and officers grew suspicious. She brought them out to her car to get an ID, and put the girls back in the car while officers retrieved a portable fingerprint scanner to identify her, police said.

Officers learned Sewell had active warrants for her arrest and confronted her as she sat in the car. She then put her car in reverse and struck a cruiser, the drove over a curb and a lawn to escape, police said.

She led officers on a three-minute chase through several residential streets but terminated the chase due to safety concerns, police said.

Jeez, what is wrong with people. I'm guessing pretty bad for court to order children turned over and for her to hit a officer vehicle and flee.

I would like to know the backstory on this but I doubt we will because they are juveniles. I wonder why they could not stay with the grandmother or family instead of going with strangers.

Having heard quite a bit about the life of Serenity (another case), sometimes I am not sure what is best.

However, admittedly we have no facts here nor are we likely to.

Thank goodness they were found safe, however, their life is going to be no picnic for these two cute little girls the way it sounds.
