OH OH - Taylor Robinson, 19, Akron, 3 May 2013

  • #121
I'm really disappointed about how this case went. I live a couple miles north of Akron and had to search online and in newspapers in attempt to find any updates while she was missing, nine times out of ten finding nothing. They covered it very minimally in the news in my opinion.

I hate knowing that when I'm hiking and exploring the park (where she was found) that there's a chance of running into these creeps. This isn't the first disposal and this particular sicko is still walking around free.

I may have missed it above but to answer a question - the officers told the mom that the remains appeared older than 4 months so they assumed they were not her daughters at first.

RIP Taylor

Also from Akron area here, spiritseeker. I wouldn't go hiking in the parks alone anymore. Not that something can't happen anywhere, but I don't think it's good to be in the woods alone. Stay safe!:seeya:

Several of us used to go at night but we've stopped after a few incidents over the last handful of years. It's a really beautiful place and I love it, but so do the 'bad guys'. I'll stick with daytime hikes!

More bones and new evidence found:

Didn't she goes missing from her job? I think it's more likely she was abducted elsewhere and dumped in the park. I go there often mostly to bike but I would hate to not be able to enjoy it.

Yes, she was dropped off at work and disappeared. The local officers say its pretty safe comparable to other national parks. It's just been used as a dumping ground here and there (ie Jessie Davis found at 'Top of the World'). A few people hiding from the law have been down there - either from Northcoast Behavioral or otherwise.

I was down there a couple years ago doing a night hike when out of the darkness came 4 cop cars came into the trailhead with spotlights on - chasing some guy on foot. We didn't know he was there. He about 30 yards from us before the cops arrived and he took off running. Not sure how the officers knew....they caught him over by the Szalays farm. We went down to the police station and asked about the safety and they wouldn't tell us a thing other than 3 women shouldn't be out walking at night alone.

I've only done night bike rides usually with a large group. I don't think I would hike at night. The Metroparks has it's share of characters I have more than once been completely creeped out from a passing person when out for a jog/hike usually I have my dogs with me but not sure how much they would help they aren't exactly guard dogs.

I know that this isn't current, but I missed this....about a week after Taylor's remains were found LE said that they originally narrowed the list of suspects down from about 10 to 2 or 3. They believe that Taylor knew her killer. They believe that it's possible that it was an accident and someone panicked and covered it up with the assistance of someone else.

That would be a heavy burden for anyone to carry. I hope whoever took Taylor's life (or assisted the person who took Taylor's life) steps forward, takes responsibility and starts to move forward with their life while providing closure to Taylor's family.

Bless everyone as we head into this holiday season.

I don't know why, but I got thinking about Taylor today. It's so sad that once things go quiet on an unsolved case then the media moves on and so do we.

The only "new" item I could find in the news was this article from several months ago.

My heart breaks for this family. I desperately hope that a strong evidential case is being built and that we will hear that someone has been charged with Taylor's murder.

AKRON, Ohio - Nearly two years after her disappearance, Akron Police could be inching closer to finding the person or people who killed 19-year-old Taylor Robinson.

Detective Gary Shadie told newsnet5.com that recent tips from the public have reenergized the investigation.

"We have been actively investigating some new leads. We have conducted a couple of interviews as recent as the past couple of weeks," Shadie said.

Robinson's skeletal remains were kept at the Summit County Medical Examiner's until last week when they were turned over to a funeral home after investigators determined that no more DNA testing was possible. After Taylor is cremated, her mother will finally be able to place her beloved daughter's ashes in the urn.
[...]
Nearly seven years after Taylor's tragic death, Summit County Crimestoppers, along with group called "Silent Angels", are putting up a new $7,000 reward for information that leads to Robinson's killer.

True Crime Garage came out with an excellent podcast on this case!

I just heard about this case from the TCG podcast. As many others have said already, it's really disheartening to see how little attention this case received.

I was glad to hear about the new reward money because it sounds like both the PI and LE have a pretty good idea about what went down. They suspect someone in her circle either knows who killed Taylor and/or assisted with the disposal of her body. If these suspicions are true, I hope the reward money will apply enough pressure to make them come forward. This sweet girl and her family deserve to see some justice.

PS. I wonder if the vague "favor" text that was sent from Taylor's phone at 5 am was sent by the person who killed her?

Imagine if Taylor was a blonde white woman. I believe that LE worked hard on this case, but I wonder if the news media and the public would have been more engaged. :(

Taylor....you matter.
