Wright, Jr., 58, died in May 2014 after crashing his truck into utility pole on Claasen Avenue near East 71st Street. Police called to the scene found Wright, of North Royalton, had been shot before the 3 a.m. crash.

After examination by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office, Theodore J. Wright, Jr. was found to be shot. The ME tells 19 Action News the bullet went through Wright's left arm and into his body, then hit his bodily organs.

After being shot, Wright lost control of his 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck and struck a utility pole around 3 a.m. Thursday at Classen and East 71st in Cleveland. The vehicle then overturned. He died at the accident scene...

A Cleveland man has been indicted with aggravated murder for the death of off-duty firefighter Theodore J. Wright.

According to a spokesperson from the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office, 20-year-old Slatter Howell III was indicted Tuesday.

A man who said in 2013 TV news segment that he left behind his life as a gang member was convicted Tuesday of killing a Maple Heights convenience store clerk less than a year later in what prosecutors say was an attempt to join the Heartless Felons gang.

Slater Howell III, who told WEWS Channel 5 in May 2013 that people who turn to the streets will "either end up dead or in jail," now faces life in prison after a jury convicted him of aggravated murder and seven other counts in the April 7, 2014 killing of Babul Kumer Saha at the Prime Station on Granger Road.

Howell, 22, is also charged with shooting and killing Cleveland firefighter Theodore Wright less than a month after Saha's death. He has pleaded not guilty in that case and his trial has yet to be set.
