ASHLAND − Police are asking area residents to search their buildings and check surveillance cameras for clues to the whereabouts of a man who has been missing since Monday.

Timothy Metcalf, 74, left his West 12th Street home on Ashland's north side about 8 p.m. Monday.

An airplane from the Ohio Highway Patrol was used look for the man Friday morning. On Thursday, divers from the Ashland County Sheriff's Office checked a pond. The effort is expected to resume Saturday.

"The only thing we know for sure is that he left out the back door of the house," Ashland Police Chief David Lay said.

***********
Police believe Metcalf walked out of his house and headed toward the north or the northwest.

He left his wallet and cellphone at his house and did not report to work the next day.

*************
Investigators have contacted all local businesses in case Metcalf has sought food or shelter.

"We still think it's possible that he might have gotten a ride from someone," Lay said.

Metcalf has been known to frequent parks and woods, often livetrapping squirrels in town and taking them to a nearby woods.

"He would drive them to an area off Ford Drive and release them," Lay said.

Earlier this week, police searched several wooded areas with dogs and drones.

A pond on the north end of town caught their attention, so they called the sheriff's divers.

"As a mater of precaution, they checked that pond," Lay said. "We didn't find anything."

That's when they decided to call the Ohio Highway Patrol for aerial assistance.

"They were in the air at least an hour," Lay said.

*************
"We are in constant communication with the family," Lay said. "We are exhausting every resource that's available to locate Mr. Metcalf."

MISSING ADULT UPDATE

We are continuing to look for Mr. Metcalf. The attached image shows a 1 mile distance around his home. Unless he found a ride out of the area, we believe that he did not walk too far from his residence.

If you live within this circle, please check any surveillance footage you may have. Also check any sheds, garages, vehicles that are not being driven, or any place he could have sought shelter on your property.

To date, we have only been able to locate one image of Mr. Metcalf on video. He stopped at Discount Drug Mart after getting off of work on 02/20/2023. This is the most recent picture that we have and would have been taken 4 hours before he walked out of his house.
