PEEBLES, Ohio — Three people face charges, including child endangering, after a six-week-old girl was found early Sunday with bite marks from rats.

WAVERLY, Ohio — Three people have been accused of letting rats bite a 6-week-old girl and chew off her toes at their cluttered Ohio mobile home.


Pike County prosecutor Rob Junk says the baby’s toes on one foot were gone when sheriff’s deputies went to the home Sunday after receiving an anonymous tip.

This is an incredible story of the lowest of low lifes in existence. How could any one person permit an infant to sustain even one injury by a rodent (or anything else) when that child is in their care, much less the child being left like refuse to be eaten by rats.

Everyone of the adults who knew of that child's presence and did not do something upon knowing of this child's first injury deserves punishment. I am getting to the place of wanting to put such low lifes out of the boat immediately.

October 2009:

A Pike County man was sentenced to two years in prison this morning for neglect of an infant who lost two toes to rat bites.

Todd C. Trent, 18, was sentenced by Common Pleas Court Judge Randy Deering after pleading guilty to child endangering.
