Thanks onfortuneswheel; I'm gonna put it in a different category, due to it being distinctly cult-ish.

Theory One: She was a prostitute working truck-stops. She was killed by somebody she had hitched a ride with.
Theory Two: She was a teenage/young adult runaway. She was killed by somebody she had hitched a ride with.
Theory Three: She had a SO who was a trucker. He killed her.
Theory Four: She was a drug runner.
Theory Five: She was Amish or Mennonite and had left them. No one knew to look for her.
Theory Six: She was killed by an abusive SO.
Theory Seven: She was a biker chick. She traveled with the other bikers. They killed her.
Theory Eight: She was the girl spotted in the bar. She was killed by someone who she met in the bar.
Theory Nine: She was a member of The Way International or other religious cults.

Also, I still think the jacket may have been sewn as a men's jacket. Like I've said before, I'm 5'6, about Buckskin Girl's height, and 15-20 lbs. heavier than her. I carry it mostly in my thighs, and around my middle. No way would I fit into that jacket; it'd be too big for me. Buckskin Girl was a lot slimmer than me, so I don't see how she would feel comfortable wearing that - I seriously think it'd be swimming on her.

I had a thought that maybe it was a murderer who styled her hair like that. Her braids are rather awkwardly positioned.

They redid her braids for her pictures

We have to remember, times were different, we didn't wear our clothes the way you guys do now. Clothes were cut/ sized different too. I could wear a small or medium in mens. We have to also take into account she had a 32D bra. Her jacket was not made to be fitted.

NamUs profile
Buckskin fringed, tan-brown leather, pullover style, hood-less poncho. Wrangler blue jeans (size 30L), patterned brown and orange pullover sweater (size L). White bra size 32D.

Yes sizing was very different decades back... I find a lot of vintage clothing with sizing very different from our current trends (even discounting vanity sizing.)

I'd still like to find out what kind of tool made those marks on her head - what was she struck with? Ideas anyone??? It's been bothering me for a long time - I think if we could determine that, it would go a long way toward solving some aspects of this case.

Does anyone know if Cecile Moch has already been discussed in this thread? A very long shot, this girl went missing in CA... but seems to bear a decent resemblance , and facial proportions appear to be pretty close. There are some height/weight discrepancies between the two profiles, but as we know those cant always be depended upon, esp with older missing cases... but she's not on the ruleout list on NAMUS yet, so...

I'm new to Web Sleuth. Has the Buckskin Girl been checked as a possible match for Sharon Lynn Pretorias?

HI Kravitz007.
I went on this UID's page on NAMUS [https://identifyus.org/en/cases/4790] and I do see that Sharon Pretorius is there as a ruleout. If you select SHOW ALL EXCLUSIONS you can scroll down to see it.

That's what I'm thinking, or either the bar to the jack or the claw end of a crowbar.

She may be worth turning in, at first glance, I don't see where she has any identifiers, though, not even DNA.

ETA: Cecile had pierced ears, and BG's ears weren't.

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the site and I have been reading through the Buckskin girl postings. I have been interested in this case for sometime now, having grown up in close to the area where she was found. My mother still lives in Miami County.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but I had some thoughts, which may be way out there, but here they are. Is there a way that LE can cooperate with companies such as ancestory.com to see if they can compare Buckskin girl, or any other DNA from a missing person, with their large amount of DNA profiles that they have stored in their databases? For example, when I gave a DNA sample to ancestory.com, after they processed the sample, I was able to see many people who were 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. cousins that I was able to trace back to find our common ancestor. If LE was able to do this, say for Buckskin girl, maybe hits would come up for 1st cousins, 2nd cousins, or even siblings and they could back track and maybe find clues to who they are by finding out who they are related to.

I'm not sure of the hoops that would have to be jumped through, or the legalities of this, but I just thought I'd throw it out there. Thanks.

I am not positive, but I think there would be privacy issues that would prevent LE from being able to access that information. Unless the Ancestry.com site already employs individual authorizations before a person can access the site--I confess I have never been on the site.

This is how the Lori Erica Kennedy Ruff case was solved so I don't think there is a problem with this methodology. All the people who have submitted their DNA can share it or not as they choose, and they have usernames which don't reveal identity.

It is so sad that many of these young UIDs from back in the day may have actually been escapees from these dubious "teen homes"! I shudder to think of this unregulated industry that caters to the "troubled teens" and their families, claiming to want to help the "wayward" son or daughter, who may have only just been caught smoking a cigarette or listening to rock 'n roll.... It's still out there, on the fringes, from what I've heard/read. Didn't they make a movie on this phenomenon, called "Jesus Camp"? Not sure if that has anything to do with the subject.
