Not long before she was found. Hours to a day or so.

Some thoughts on BG. Her competition was ruddy, and she had several scars, so she may have worked outdoors/ spent alot of time outdoors, been an itinerant worker, physical labor, etc. She may have travelled a distance before she was killed. She may have been Canadian. Her clothes for 1981 seem dated. But the buckskin poncho is something that seems handmade, something that a relative might notice as hers.

Sure. It is believed BG was hitchhiking but that she had not been on the road long. She may have been an itinerant worker, someone who travelled to find work, or someone who spent time outdoors, as she had a ruddy complexion and several scars.

I think you have a point. Her hair does seem neat. Maybe the blow to the head came first. She was stunned and then strangled when she couldn't fight back. Her clothes seem a little dated for 1981. But that buckskin poncho is unique and seems to be an item of clothing a relative might notice as hers. She also had a ruddy complexion and several scars...signs she worked or spent a lot of time outdoors? She may have been an itinerant worker, travelled to find work, or a runaway. She was found in Ohio but may have been on the road awhile before being murdered. Was she Canadian?Trying to figure out why she wasn't identified at the time is hard. Any thoughts?

Hope that it is ok to butt in on this thread here, but I have been following this case for a while and I am wondering whether this girl was a carnival worker? Is it possible that she was travelling around with a carnival? hence the scars and ruddy complexion, just a thought.

Good point about the carnival!

I have visited this thread often but do forget many things about it. Has there ever been isotope testing?

I came across Deborah Tomlinson who ran away in 1973 at age 16, thought she had some similarities. But they mentioned she had moles around her neck, and she has DNA so I guess that eliminates her unless it isn't the right type of DNA.

Here is her link:

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/11096/115/

Sorry I can't link it properly, I'm on my phone and everytime I click the button for linking it crashes my browser.

ETA: I searched to make sure she hadn't been mentioned however it says no results even after I posted my post so maybe I'm having other technical issues too!

For what it's worth, Deborah Tomlinson was checked against the Strongsville Ohio Doe. Perhaps there's a reason why they thought Ohio? I can't remember the case files, they're in the other thread.

Kimberly isn't listed in NamUs so, we don't know if DNA is available. I did find this link where her height and weight are a little off from the Charley Project. It states that she as 5'0 and 100lbs where Charley says she was 5'3 and 120lbs. http://www.sdsheriff.net/coldcase/95087102/index.html NamUs states that Buckskin was 5'6 and was measured. I do think they resemble eachother otherwise. They both have the same hair color and the freckled complexion.

Here is side by side of Kimberly and a recon. I don't want to put Buckskin's postmortem pics in the thread.

What do you think?

A great idea.

Wasn't her race given as Caucasian. I agree that she may have been a farm girl. She had a ruddy complexion and scars which may have come from being outdoors, working outdoors etc

Kim was added to NamUs last week; going to take time for it to go online. LE are looking for her sister for a DNA sample. Her mother is also missing. Kim has a thread

Kimberly was quite a small person when she left home, but if she was only 15, she could have grown some.

The other photo isn't very clear, but it shows her coloring and bone structure. Very close, in my opinion.

So, we are working on matching her? Am I the first to put her here? OMG...this case is the one I've been following besides Caledonia! OMG!

It's going to take time for Kim's NamUs profile to go online as she is a minor; NCMEC has it. I assume it could be 2-3 months like Tammy Jo Alexander's...

Maybe you should look at some more cases. You appear to be good luck :D

Interesting. I can see a similarity between Kim and Buckskin girl. I am glad that LE hasn't forgotten about her and are continuing to try and match her DNA with missing persons. Although the waiting is the worst, 2-3 months is such a long time for cases such as this. A big thanks to whoever put Kim's details into NamUS.
