This case in VA has 491 rules: https://identifyus.org/en/cases/6642
I nearly fell off my chair when I saw how many. It has some of the least potential; they have no picture and only a torso and a leg, no head or hands. Not sure how they have come up with hair color unless they found some strands of hair.

WOW!!!!! Amazing. BUT, ya know, that rule out list is a good place to start if we are running out of candidates from other sources. Maybe we can find BG's real name on that list!

I really wish the government would attempt to look into possible missing people based off of social security numbers that stopped being used. I imagine a lot of these unidentified people are never reported, but were gainfully employed at some time. If they followed up with social security numbers that stopped being used, and were unable to find the person or a death certificate I am sure we would have more people to possibly match to unknown remains.

I think it would be considered an invasion of privacy, but I see what you mean: Should activity suddenly stop all together, it should trigger something.

Leg hair, pubic hair?

Agree that they were probably blond.
Interesting, it says hysterectomy, BSO. Had to look up BSO - A total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy is a hysterectomy that also involves removing: the fallopian tubes (salpingectomy) and the ovaries (oophorectomy)

Yeah, I imagine it would be to a certain degree, however, I would think that it's no more invasive than what the IRS already knows about us all. I guess it's a moot point altogether since they don't nor likely won't ever have a program like that.

Will LE ever report her stomach contents or is considered private information? Also what condition where her fingernails in? Were they painted, not painted? Were they overgrown or clipped? Did they have dirt or DNA, possibly that of her killer, underneath? (I doubt they'll release whether they have the killer's DNA anyway though). Were her hands smooth or calloused? And what about her hairties? I know they were blue. Were they the thin, breakable rubber bands that are in office supply sections? Or were they the kind you get in the beauty section of stores like Target, etc. Those things have really been bugging me.

Has LE released if she had given birth? That's a huge detail. Also if she had had any broken bones? I know I asked all this before but that was a while back and I wanted to discuss it again.

Irrelevant to what I just wrote, but I really would like to hear more from Rubies from Troy. Wonder if he/she could possibly discuss Becky with her friend in greater detail. If he/she could meet up with someone who remembers Becky's last name and her high school, I bet one of us could find Becky on Classmates. So much fits in with Buckskin Girl's case...

They said she was neat/well groomed and didn't appear to be a transient or someone that was in the sex trade, so I'm thinking her hands were probably included in that. Usually they list nail polish if it's worn, I've noticed. I hope they took fingernail scrapings. I think it was SOP back then, even without DNA testing available. I know one case in my state back in the 70s-80s, they failed to do it because the state police thought the local pd took the scrapings, and vice versa. Turns out neither did, so the perp got acquitted on a retrial.
I was wondering about the rubber bands, and posed a similar question, too. I wanted to know if they were the thick kind that you find on produce or lobster claws. Sometimes they're marked. I believe you could buy small thin blue ones back then, but the ones I usually saw for office supplies were tan-beige. I noticed that the rubber bands are not shown in either of the pictures, so maybe they're a clue as to her last stop? I would only use rubber bands in my hair as a last resort because I'd end up cutting them out, they get snarled. I use the coated elastics. They've been around for a while.

I had to look BSO up, too LOL. Too many acronyms nowadays.

In 1981, I'm guessing the hair bands were the round fabric-covered ones that you could get by the bagful in the cosmetics section of most grocery stores, drug stores, etc. They were very popular because they didn't stick to your hair like the regular ones and you could get them in colors to match your hair, or to match your outfit, or whatever. I always had one or two in my pockets most of the time when I was working or hiking outside.

And I'm thinking actual rubber bands because those coated elastics/ponytail holders (which I use for the same reason) don't have the rubber exposed and I think they would have been described as something different. I suppose if the ME were a guy, he wouldn't realize the difference unless he had daughters or long hair and had had run ins with rubber bands getting snarled up in the hair.

Yeah, exactly. Some of the clothing descriptions are very inexact. If I were describing them, rubber bands would mean what you say. But many guys, my father for instance, would use the same term to describe any sort of band that stretched, from plain rubber bands to the covered ones to the fancy ones that had the two plastic balls that looped over each other to fasten.

Large blue rubber bands are sometimes the kind used to secure heavy newspapers and magazines, for home delivery imo.

My thoughts exactly.

I wonder if there is someone we could ask about the possibility of her ever giving birth and her stomach contents. I've read other cases where they've divulged that information, said they hadn't eaten in a while or that the JD showed signs on her pelvis that she'd given birth. I recall in the recent press conference for the Allenstown NH JDs someone had asked about the adult female's pelvis and drug testing. The AG didn't have the info on the birth, but he said she hadn't tested positive for drugs.
So, I'm thinking they probably have that information but whether or not they'd be willing to share it depends on whether or not its pertinent to the criminal investigation. I would think if it helped in identifying her that they would share it.

Did you search back through this thread? I'm sure I remember the childbirth question coming up before.

I've read the whole thread multiple times (this is my hobby LOL)--and I can recall the childbirth question coming up but no definite answer.

That's what I thought I remembered--that they didn't know for sure.

Totally agree. It's a good question to add to the list. Were they rubber bands or "hair ties"

I did a search for pregnant, child birth and birth, no we do not know, it's been asked. I wonder if we did a FOIA request if they would give anything or would they deny it based on an open murder investigation?

I don't see why you couldn't request that information. I don't think knowing that would jeopardize the criminal case, myself, anymore than revealing she had scars and moles.
