If she was riding in a car for an extended period of time she may not have been wearing shoes at all. I take off my shoes on long road trips.

Unidentified Ohio homicide victim may have been from Vermont or New York

http://www.wptz.com/news/unidentifi...y-have-been-from-vermont-or-new-york/39285506

Results showed pollen on her clothes suggested she spent a significant amount of time in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts or Rhode Island. Soot on her clothing suggested she spent time in an urban area, possibly hitchhiking.

Were the post-mortem photos photoshopped to remove the strangulation marks on her neck? I was looking at the side-view and I couldn't really see it. Mount Vernon Jane Doe was strangled, too, but you could clearly see the strangulation marks in her photo.

I know LE won't release what she was strangled with, but I'm still curious. Could it have been a scarf? Lots of people have died from being strangled with scarves, like Isadora Duncan (Isadora wasn't murdered, but that's not the point). I don't see fingerprints, but that could have been edited out.

Still curious about the weapon used to cause blunt force trauma...:thinking:so many unanswered questions...

My theory on the weapon is that it was either a lug nut wrench, tire iron or the bar used to crank up a car jack.
I believe they got lost and/or got a flat tire, and then got into a fight which escalated to violence.

Have to say that I'm really happy for all of the new articles. So glad that LE listened to our suggestion to do the pollen and now the isotopes. She's been one of my pet cases since I've been at WS and was one of the 1st Doe's I brought to Never Forget Me. I ended up making 2 albums for her by mistake lol

I wonder if the black and white photo plus the head wound is masking the line? I wonder if BG bled out if that would take the discoloration away because MVJD didn't bleed out.

I can see where there may be a thin line at the lower end of her neck; there is a black spot there. I can also see a line in the fold of her neck/ where the Adams apple would be. Her frontal PM photo is cut off at her chin making me wonder if you can see it in that shot.

I do not have direct contact with the LE but I passed the Becky info on to my friend that does. I thought I read that Rubie or someone else later found that the person she thought it was was alive though. I read through the first 70+ pages of this thread in one sitting though so I could possibly be mixing things up.

Sorry, my daughter had church yesterday. I was rushing to post. Thank you for passing it on.

I was thrilled to see all the coverage our girl has gotten, but I wasn't thrilled with the test results. Pollen from northern Mexico to New England? Good grief! It's done nothing to quell my fear that she isn't in a missing person data base anywhere.

As far as hiking or working outdoors, remember that she was found literally yards from Brukner Nature Center.

So many questions...

I do wonder if her feet were clean and if she had sock markings. IIRC LE thought her shoes were removed.

The Northern Mexico pollen is separate from the East Coast pollen. It's interesting to me that she didn't have any turquoise/ sliver jewelry.

I just thought of something- there are a number of commune-type communities in that NorthEastern area of the US (not Amish or Mennonite, just hippies who mostly live off the land.) The old clothing & possible indicators of a "live off the land" lifestyle (BG's appearance of health & fitness) made me wonder if she was raised in an alternative sort of household/community & no one looked for her partially because she didn't have clear parental figures or was already estranged from her loved ones for some reason...I know the discussion in this thread is so long this might already have been suggested.

The other theory I have about her weird fashion is she dressed to please an older male partner & he might be the one responsible for her death, as men who gravitate towards keeping younger partners can be controlling/abusive...They often wish to mold girlfriends into a version of a past partner they were unable to keep around.

edit to add- I truly hate to throw this out there but the other typical possibility is she was just the unlucky victim of a robbery & that could explain the missing shoes, the lack of jewelry & the ferocity of her wounds (one strong or two strong assailants could have easily beaten her in a rage.) If the robbers had transportation they might have just waited for a very random area to throw her out to reduce the likelyhood of being caught with her body. In other words....the hazards of hitchhiking & meeting people on the road.

Because I'm dumb, I missed this bit the first read!

This seems it could be an important clue. Its website says it's open until 5 pm, but this was 35 years ago. Could they have been hiking, having stayed after closing time, gotten into an altercation, he kills her and drags her body? Makes me wonder if her killer was an employee at the Brukner Nature Center; she goes to visit him at work, a fight ensues, she's killed? Kind of "out there" theory, but maybe...

Wonder if she could have gotten been coming back from New Mexico...it's an arid region of US, by North Mexico. The jacket reminds me of some I've seen for sale in stores run by Native Americans in New Mexico. It might be pretty expensive if it was. I got a really sweet-looking necklace and earring set at one of those stores; it was made by the Zuni tribe. I think it's made of some kind of shell; I'm no expert on this, and since it was made to look like corn on the cob (bought it because 'corn' is in my last name. lol) it confuses me more. It has an artist's signature on the back of the pendant, and on the back of both earrings. Cost $150. Very off topic, my apologies.

I do wonder if her feet were clean and if she had sock markings. IIRC LE thought her shoes were removed.

I want to know about the condition of her feet, too, though there might be dirt on them just because she was lying in the dirt anyway. Wonder why her killer would remove the shoes. Maybe they were distinctive. I'm personally not buying the foot fetishist angle, although I suppose that could be the case.

Wondering if she and her partner eloped to Southwest US/North Mexico (probably Southwest US) to get as far away from possible as the Northeast. It seems possible that she had family and friends that were disproving of their relationship, she went with him anyway, and for whatever reason, in a moment of rage, he killed her.

I don't know that there's anything really weird about her clothing. I wasn't even born back then, but I asked numerous people who would be around Buckskin Girl's age, and they said that if they saw a girl wearing that outfit they wouldn't think much of it. But that might depend on what part of the country you are from--the people I asked were all from the West coast, so perhaps for the East it was unusual

That might explain the lack of rape. It reminds me of Tammy's case--not often is a young, pretty girl or woman found murdered who was both clothed and not sexually assaulted.

What does anyone think about the possibility that this young lady could have been from Canada?

Height and weight are off (though admittedly we have seen times when height and weight are off, but not usually 5'' and 25 lbs. unless skeletal). They both have birthmarks on their thighs, though--right for Danielle, left for BG. Makes me wonder if Danielle's report might have that detail incorrect? Their ears do look similar; I tried to do a side-by-side but Danielle's ear looked very pixelated. Wonder if Danielle had a crown on #8.

It says Danielle was last seen leaving a bar; that's not good for MPs, especially female ones (or maybe young, white males during the time of Dean Corll/Randy Kraft/William Bonin murders).

Personally I don't think they're the same person, something just looks "off", but I'm far from expert.

Because she was found so close to the nature center has me wondering if she was with some sort of study group? As far as her buckskin jacket goes, maybe she just wore it because she liked it? I spent most of my high school years wearing black knee high suede moccasin boots because I loved them. (I graduated in 1992). I still have them, too. ;)

Is there any type of joint missing person agency between the US and Canada (besides Interpol)? If there isn't, there needs to be one. One for Mexico, too, as there are a lot of UIDs in CA, AZ, NM and TX that are most likely folks crossing the border that didn't make it, which breaks my heart.
I've submitted two possible matches to the RCMP, Patricia Salamandyk's and one for Jock Doe, so I wonder if it's a near act of congress to share information, like dental and DNA between countries?

Here's the woman's full description:
- Age: Late teens or early 20s
- Height: 5-feet, 6inches tall
- Weight: 125 pounds
- Hair: Reddish-brown hair that was styled in two side braids and part down the middle
- Race: Caucasian
- Complexion: Ruddy with freckles on face
- Scars: One beneath chin, one on left arm, two on left wrist, right hand, right ankle and right rood
- Clothing: Bell bottom blue jeans, brown turtleneck sweater with orange crisscross design on front, handmade tan buckskin pull-over jacket with leather fringe around the seams with a deep purple lining

http://abc7ny.com/news/pollen-found-on-jane-doe-killed-in-1981-has-new-york-link/1315587/

A new test from pollen on the woman's clothing suggested that she was from or spent a significant amount of time in the northeastern dry-oak forest region, particularly these areas: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

"A high level of soot from vehicle traffic and/or industrial activity was also found on her clothing suggesting that she spent a significant amount of time in an urban area within the Northeastern region or possibly from hitchhiking," investigators said in a news release.

The tests also found pollen grains from the western U.S. or northern Mexico, suggesting that she traveled to either of these areas shortly before her death.

No there's not. Currently the case workers try to contact each other. Canada has a database that's very in complete and doesn't include DNA

Was Patricia Taylor ever submitted?

She's not on the rule outs list on NAMUS.

  • #1,399
Per Patricia's FB page, they have unofficially ruled out WCJD and AGJD due to date conflicts, but in this case, Patricia had dental work that doesn't match WCJD (she had teeth removed, WCJD did not). It was also recently discovered that Patricia had a tattoo. WCJD didn't have a tattoo.
I think it is their intention to run her DNA against the other redhead murder JD's, though. They're waiting to get their DNA submitted to CODIS.

I imagine that's quite a daunting task. Does Canada even have the equivalent of CODIS?
