I feel like I found Kim Phelps on Facebook, under a married name.

Can you point me that way?

I had found a listing for the letter writer as living in Illinois City, IL which is in Rock Island County. Can't be 100% certain it is same person but likely so. Guessing that she was from this county or a surrounding one?

If she had aged out of the foster care system like so many did back then it would be sad to say that she would never be reported missing. I keep replaying that scenario in my head and it breaks my heart. Another is maybe she was the child or spouse of a military member.

The family of a woman who went missing from Paradise, Texas in 1979 wrote to Ann Landers in 1987 asking her to print a plea for their loved one to come home. Names were not used, but I wonder if we can track it down and see if we can find a name and if this person is still missing? It looks like Paradise, TX could fall into our isotope area.

Ok third attempt. I think it's this ladies mouth and nose that strongly resembles BSG. I can't tell with the eyes. Eddy went missing in 78. I don't see her on the rule out sheet.

She was 28 in 1977 so 32 in 1981 - possible but I don't think BG was that old.

And she was 5'1 when BG was more likely 5'5" - 5'6"

Circumstantially, it does seem like she was the victim of a homicide near where she was last seen.

But she does hail from the 'dry forest' area where we know BG spent time.

Look at the third last page in this online case file (warning: postmortem pics from a different case at link http://www.wmctv.com/link/693170/john-and-jane-doe-case-file?clienttype=generic&mobilecgbypass )

Possibly an unreported missing teen. I googled the letter writer's name and see possible ties to Illinois or Arizona.

Height, age, weight would all fit.

A long shot, but thought I'd share!

I saw that on the Blytheville thread and asked about that because I couldn't find a case for the MP mentioned. I've been trying to find out if she's been found; I was thinking of BG when I saw her picture.

Sorry, haven't been online much since being sick so totally missed your reply post 132 in AR - Blytheville, WhtFem 449UFAR, 18-36, GSW, off I-55, 'Kim' tattoo, Jun'78

I did a screen shot

Someone posted on one of the threads that they thought Kim Phelps had been found and was alive.
That could be why we can't find anything on her.

The new lead about BG being from "Texoma" makes me think she was an unwanted/abused Okie kid who met with extreme bad luck trying to escape her origins. I'm familiar with the "Okie" subculture & maltreatment of women & poverty is very prevalent.

It does not appear as though Buckskin Girl came from poverty - she appeared to be very well cared for; excellent teeth, good hygiene, etc.

From what I understood, BG's isotope results didn't tell us where she grew up or where she was raised, but where she spent the last year or two of her life. It's possible she did grow up in that area but we don't know for sure because they didn't test her teeth or bones, only hair and nails, which gives us a shorter time span.

Are her ears not being pierced significant to where she came from? I just don't know any female that doesn't have pierced ears. This seems odd to me...

Back then there were many more women who did not have pierced ears - it wasn't nearly as common as it is today. Heck, even now when I go shopping for earrings there is usually 1 rack (at least) of clip-on earrings!

35-year-old homicide cold case points to Texoma - By Brittany Harlow - Posted: Fri 5:21 PM, Aug 19, 2016 - Updated: Fri 7:26 PM, Aug 19, 2016

Now, new forensic evidence indicates she spent time in or around Texoma on two occasions the year before she was killed.

“So 12 months prior to her death she was there for at least two months and then four months prior to her death she came back and spent another two months there,” Miami County Sheriff’s Office Detective Steve Hickey said....

...“So we are really trying to get a wide an audience as possible throughout all of Texas and all of Oklahoma hoping to find her family and her friends,” Schweitzer said.

Lab results from pollen and soot on her clothes show she spent time in the Eastern and Western part of the United States, and maybe even northern Mexico shortly before she was killed. But a lot of evidence points to North Texas and Southeastern Oklahoma.

“We’re hitting Texas and Oklahoma cause that’s exactly where they pinpointed her location a year before her death,” Hickey said. “Was she from there? Or did she just have a friend or family member there? We don’t know those questions are unanswered at this point.”...

Lisa Marie Sexton disappeared on Friday May 1, 1981 from Elyria, Ohio.

Buckskin Girl was found deceased on Friday April 24, 1981 in Miami County, Ohio.

Lisa Marie Sexton disappeared one week after BG's body was found and she cannot be BG.

While sometimes the date last seen can be off or inaccurate, the profile also mentions that her mother last heard from Lisa in 1984, further ruling her out.
