Somebody please remind me not to read comments on news articles (nor youtube videos). It's a sad state of affairs...the mentality of some people who have computers and Internet access.

I already knew this...but I sometimes relapse into reading them...

The boyfriend may be a jerk, but I am guessing he is not involved in this...

Herrmann's co-worker at Dairy Queen reported her missing on Wednesday after she didn't show up to work, Barber said. A sheriff's deputy went to her home in Howard, about 60 miles northeast of Columbus, twice Wednesday night and found lights on and a pickup truck in the driveway.
"No one answered the door," Barber said. "There was no sign of anything out of place."
Authorities returned to the home Thursday after the concerned co-worker went to the house and found blood inside. Investigators confirmed the blood but said they didn't see signs of a struggle, like overturned chairs.
It's unclear what led to the disappearance of the four, authorities said.
"Right now, there's no indication to say that they were abducted," the sheriff said. "But they're unaccounted."
Borders said Friday he last heard from Herrmann on Wednesday morning. He said Herrmann texted him on his way to work at a distribution center about 80 miles away in West Jefferson about 4:40 a.m. Wednesday to let him know that she'd fed the dog. He said the dog, a miniature pinscher named Tanner, also was missing.

and in the same article as above:

Borders said he finished his shift at 4 p.m. Wednesday and spent the night with a friend. He said he was playing golf on Thursday when his mother called and said Herrmann apparently was missing.
He said he didn't think much of it until he returned to the house in Howard after 5:30 p.m. and found authorities there.
He gave officers permission to search the house and didn't go inside himself. He said a deputy took a few steps into the home and said he saw a considerable mess inside. :waitasec:

I'm beginning to think that as well. However, it's still odd that of all nights he was not home. Like others have said, I wonder if that their norm since splitting up - that he would often spend the night away. He says "friend" - wonder if it was a new girlfriend, not that it matters. There is a difference b/t being a jerk and being a sociopath.

Well, Sprang was Spring in the first story I read, but that is just bad reporting. I don't know whether the rest of it is bad reporting or whether GB is changing his story.

That's a long shift...

"Authorities had talked to the girl but would not release any details because the investigation is ongoing, Barber said."

"Davis said Hoffman did tree trimming work and had built a fire Wednesday night in his backyard, where there was a mound of ashes Sunday with tree parts on it. She said he walked to a nearby park with a lake almost every day and was a "nature person" who collected leaves."

IIRC - they work 12 hour shifts at Target Distribution Centers.

Sorry, I'm too frazzled to find the link (not saving them) but the 4-ish am text transformed into a 5-ish "talked at" 5-ish (via phone or in person, who tf knows?) *and* an 11:30 text.

I just found it strange that they broke up weeks ago, he still lives there and the night they disappear he happens to spend night away from the house.

ETA
And if she did indeed text him to tell him she fed the dog, WHY did she tell him that? Did she not know he was spending the night away ... hinky is happening here

My husband would call (before the world of texting) to tell me he'd fed the dog because otherwise we either both fed her or neither of us did.

For Tina to text him that she fed the dog implies to me that she thought he'd be home when she wasn't and she wanted him to know the dog had been fed, even if the dog made puppy eyes and acted all hungry (as our own dog was known to do).

We should probably be a bit careful about accusations against GB, so far, there is no evidence that anything he said is not the complete truth. Maybe he spoiled the dog and tended to overfeed it and she wanted to make sure he didn't feed it again. Maybe SHE was forgetful about it and wanted him to not worry, since he was going to be gone for the night. Sometimes such a small thing becomes a focus and is truly irrelevant in the scheme of things. For all we know, since his work was such a long drive away, maybe he worked several extra long shifts during the week and always spent the night with his mom in between those shifts. A great number of people were making some pretty serious accusations toward him for the last few days, and so far NONE of that has turned out to be the case. This is JMOO of course!!!

I was just thinking about the keys to the truck. Has there been any mention about them? Were they in the truck when it was found?

I'm not sure whether he was with a friend or with his mom. See Crocus' posts above.

I have a bad feeling that Sarah was not able to help LE with the location of her family members and her mom's friend...I doubt that LE would have waited until tomorrow to try to locate them if they had information from her? Unless of course they are searching now, and keeping it quiet.

Yes, it would be interesting to find out who has Tina's set of keys.

In that channel 10 news vid where he mentioned the phone call & text, he also said he spent the nite w/ his friend.

I don't remember if it was only media that said he spent the nite w/ his mom, or if that was in a video...I never saw a video w/ him saying he spent the nite w/ mom- but I haven't watched all the vids.
