He worked for a tree trimming business and had been recently laid off(reportedly).

It's not unusual at all for people to burn trash and brush (safely, of course, and not during burn bans) in rural or even semi-rural areas.

But perhaps MH took advantage of that.

Please disregard my question about his business as I thought he was out of work.

I had forgotten about the dog. Poor doggie, it sure seems like he is not coming home. He likely would have showed up somewhere by now if he had just ran off. :(

why take the dog?

CORRECTION (edit my post on previous page so won't confuse those reading later)

"He would sit and listen to us up in a tree. He had a hammock and he would sit there and listen to us," she said. "He was just different. He was very different." Davis said Hoffman did tree trimming work and had built a fire Wednesday night in his backyard, where there was a mound of ashes Sunday with tree parts on it. She said he walked to Foundation Park almost every day and was a "nature person" who collected leaves.

Does someone have a link please that uses this phrase "lined with leaves"? I'd really like to see it in context. Not sure why everyone is interpreting it as the leaves being inside the house. When I heard it, my only thought was that his house was surrounded by leaves outside.

Here is the original mention on the last thread, from this morning. I think there may have been a written link too, I will try and find it:

When I first turned channel 10 news on this morning, around 6:30, they were reporting on this, and they reported that there was no electric at Hoffman's house, and the inside of the house was lined with leaves. Anyone else hear that?

I hate to say this, but DD sounds like an attention-ho to me. I'm sure she was the same woman who gave out incorrect (or made-up) info at the beginning of all this. A sleuth here pointed out that she was not a reliable witness. I'm taking a lot of what she says with a large grain of salt.

Yes, I'd read that already and posted about some of it.

“I had asked him if he’d ever been locked up because he was so observant like people from prison are,” Donna said.

What in the hello does this mean??

That sure puts the squirrel killing in context...and it sounds like things weren't going so great in his life & the rage was building.

I also recall that someone posted that there are a few in that area who seem to want to get their 15 minutes, so to speak, whenever news crews come around (not just this case).

ARGH. What/who to believe...

Meanwhile, there are 3 still missing.

From the article posted above:

“It was weird,” Fisher said of the ride. “We didn’t take the main roads back, we took the back roads. I came home and told my mom he made me uncomfortable.”

I feel this is an important aspect to this case. In most employment situations, when an employee doesn't show up for work, the natural assumption is that the employee is ill or a family member is ill, they overslept, or is having car trouble that's delaying their arrival at work.

In this case, the manager of the Dairy Queen contacted LE and asked for a wellness check to be done.

I find this highly unusual that someone would automatically assume that something had happened that called for the services of a police officer.

The manager of the Dairy Queen is a female and maybe she and Tina had a friendship outside of work and perhaps Tina had expressed concerns to her about something.

That's a good point, and I've wondered about it since the beginning. A good friend of mine, and colleague, was out one day. We teach in college. Someone called and left a message. The next day, he was out again, and more calls made. I believe it was that day that we called his parents (he was an older gentleman, btw). Eventually, his sister went to check on him and found that he had passed away in bed. I was heartbroken, as were most of us. He hadn't been a particularly healthy guy, but it wasn't normal for him not to show up for his classes. Still, that first day, everyone assumed it was an oversight. So, I wondered why someone would go out of their way to check on a healthy person, immediately upon their not showing up for work? Was there something going on in Tina's life that automatically caused her coworker to assume the worst?

So, the last time Sarah may have seen Stephanie was Thursday????

Barber would reveal very few details as to what information Sarah has provided investigators since her rescue but did say the last time Sarah saw her mother and brother was in their King Beach Drive home on Wednesday.

He said it may have been Thursday when Sarah saw Sprang last, but wasn’t certain. The first time Sarah had contact with Hoffman, the sheriff said, was inside her home but no date was provided.

Me either.

What would make a person who is locked in a cell 24/7 so astute at being observant?

Okay, I remember now. DD was the one in an early video who claimed to have seen a body bag removed from MH's house when he was arrested. That was quickly denied by LE, but not before it spread like wildfire all over the media. She was still anonymous in that video, but was identified as DD shortly after.

Neighbors has said they saw a body bag being taken from Hoffman's home

I've read Tuesday (other sources), day before Tina, Kody and Sarah went missing (still troublesome).

Getting extremely tired of the media (online and off)....
